Cykle is great for experimentation. Create a basic pattern and drive a synth with a sound you like, then just play around with new lanes and see where it goes.

Sounds fab Michael! Sounds so easy but do you have a screen shot of how to set that up in AUM? How to play around with a lane? Cheers, ED

    Try this one.

Awesome Crackle! This video is fab! Just what the music doctor odered! Thank you very much! Cheers, ED

What's DrumPerfect. I see the pro version but the non pro doesn't show in the app store.

I don't think there is a non-pro version of DrumPerfect for iOS currently

What's that in the image then?

it's the older version. Probably the dev removed from the store when he put the Pro version on

How do you like DPP? It's expensive but I've watched every video I can find. I sounds good. I may get it but every time I watch a tutorial I come out thinking it would confuse the hell out of me. How do you find it?

Absolutely, a bit more on topic would be great, it’s a nightmare to search for news in this thread.

I haven’t had time to update it since Friday, hopefully others have in my stead...

I’m working a better solution for the next big sales.

I just got EG Pulse. No multi-layers??. So disappointed, I was sure it had the option for multiple layers (velocity).
    I can’t find a good solution for multi-layered drums. And I’ve tried a few.

    • DigiStix is great but can’t change patterns via midi, which is a must. You can control just about everything but not patterns... also the multilayer editing is a bit confusing,
    • AudioLayer is great but a bit overkill for a straightforward drum machine, also needs external midi for patterns and stuff.
    • Drambo. Superb except that for multiple layers (velocity) you need the big sampler and I find it really hard to edit. It’s too small. Flexisampler would be great if it could concatenate samples to use as slices. As with AudioLayer, it’s not quick.

So I was waiting for Pulse, but I can’t see the multiple layers options. Was I wrong in thinking it had multiple layers?. I really didn’t need it otherwise. (And I’ve spent enough these days...).

Yeah, they all have their shortcomings. I read up on EG Pulse last night and this thread put me off. In fairness to the dev, they responded to a review saying a big update was coming, but who knows.

Have you looked into DrumPerfect Pro? It's pricey, but might meet your needs. Here's an informative thread about it: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/21074/is-drumperfect-pro-the-one/

DrumComputer boicot here until it gets a “Record” button for live recording a sequence (finger tapping).

YESS! Did they ever announce any plans to implement that?

The basic Geoshred is now free. The in app purchase to upgrade to pro is 16€ vs 28€ in the app store.

If I remember correctly DrumPerfect Pro had a peculiar way of working as auv3 where you couldn’t edit. Right?. Like auv3 was a “player only” instance. I find that too limiting, although I haven’t tried it.

@Krupa Play with standalone. It took me about 5 mins to realize I had to have this. Held off for a couple weeks, waiting for possible BF discount. And to my surprise they actually took $2 off. So boom it was mine, all mine, bwwahhh haaah, haaa, haaa....lol

I think you’re talking about drum computer? I do have that and it’s ace, was wondering about sample reverse on EG pulse , nice one though :)

Yup Drum Computer sorry that wasn’t clear.

Sorry, I never "upgraded" from the original DrumPerfect, but that sounds about right.

I don't have it. Have the original, which was cool when it released regarding achieving a more humanized drum.
Better ask the other folks wheter the Pro version is still relevant

I bought it. The AUv3 version is just a player of patterns you create in the standalone app. It has a very idiosyncratic way of building songs and sequences and does some strange things with samples to introduce variation. It is very capable of great realistic drums though. I thought I'd be able to use the player but some of the features on standalone were missing like random pattern selection. Also, the player used way more CPU than I was expecting. I don't think I'll ever use it again.
Someone made about 4 or 5 really good instructional videos, and while he'd signalled it was an ongoing series it seemed he just found it too frustrating to continue. I don't remember the details, but he posted about on here a few years ago.

Looks like the Geoshred GeoSWAM bundle sale is live. Anyone have any idea what the sizes of these instruments are?

GeoShred is 165MB on my iPad including data. The instruments are modeled, not samples, so they should be pretty insignificant.

  • Where was the link to the huge discount on samples?

I have all 6 installed and GeoShred shows 172.9MB with the Data added at 1.4MB. The folks at SWAM use software Modeling techniques and they don't playback recorded samples so the storage consumption is NOT problem. Someday there will be models for all the typical orchestral instruments and we won't have to give dozens of GB's over to sampled instruments. We'll save space that for cloning our IAA apps.

Can PLEASE you show me how you use Cykle I? I bought it and like most sequencers I have no idea how to set it up to use it. Any tips/screenshots or anything to get me going with it would be gratefully appreciated. I just never know where to start with it. I have most sequencers but no idea how to start off with them. Thanks so much I’m advance to you or anyone who can help me start sequencing away! Cheers, ED

Yeah the video @CracklePot posted shows you everything you need to know to get up and running. Once you wrap your head around it, it’s amazing and so much fun!

  • Iceworks apps are on sale 20-25% off. I have a few of their synths, which I love. Time to pick up a couple more.

Yes it’s one of only 2 AU sampling drum machines. I bought Pulse last night even though I have Digistix and just got Drum computer, skiiid.

I went a little drum crazy this year... lol.

So, @Poppadocrock, what’s your verdict? Digistix or EG Pulse? I’ve been on the fence forever.
