    Takete is down to $12.99.
Damn, may have to finally get it at that price.
Used to be $60 I think.

A"must watch" video for justify it? I'm still figuring it out why I will need it...

Maybe you don’t need it, but have a look at all it can do.
It is a lot of app for $13.
I mainly am interested in the audio-driven video FX. I didn’t even realize it is a full-on groovebox and clip launcher.

I’m tired of too much features but zero true utility iOS apps. What makes takete so special?

    I have no idea.
I never even considered it before today, since it is usually too expensive for me.

So, you seem bitter about some of your past purchases.
Which apps were so underwhelming for you?

The very first youtube video I ever posted was a 16 minute jam I did in Takete its still up, not very good but I did use the audio reactive visuals thru out. Also the interface can be changed and layout however you like. There is no real manual as for as I know but developer did make a few helpful tutorials.

  • It would be a great app. The problem for me is that I can not see anything while editing. Is all black.

If you select the Globe a menu pops up with several blocks of functions. Lower right is called General. Select the box Alpha Slider. Now lower right below the eye you'll have a horizontal slider that adjusts the alpha and affects the overall contrast of the screen. You'll be able to see the editable squares when you choose the 9 box icon on top.

Sorry I don't yet know what everything is called. I just got this but had the issue you mentioned until I found the Alpha Slider.

  • @Skinner thanks so much. I’ve bought this app but I really understand so little😂😂😂

  • @Charlesalbert

It is mystifying. I just told you everything I know about it. :D I exchanged email with the dev earlier. He said the tutorials for version 1 cover most of what's in version 2 on his YT page. Also, he started a forum at refinedstochastic.com You'll see the BB link there.

To name one similar in obscure interface, potential and price let’s say Lemur but there are a lot of drama-apps that I learnt to avoid and just focus on few really productive (and available today not soon this year, where most of my skepticism come from).

I feel takete is a great app but my gut says you don’t it even I’m still figuring what is really for itself...

Just a feeling too usual in our ecosystem, nothing personal to takete (more related to “grab this cause is low price” GAS)

  • @hacked_to_pieces is the audio visual aspect any good? Can you just run a stereo wav file through it for the visuals ?
I most likely wouldn’t use the audio part, but am looking for a good audio visualizer.

  • Takete is very nice at doing visuals for music and its unique it the way it does it. I did a few little videos that I was happy with but I found the video and audio frustrating to combine. Its very good at triggering video from audio or from midi and almost everything is controllable via midi. The video effects are great, tunnel, edge detect, postilise/pointize. (Is that the right term?)
I found that I editing the video very frustrating but thats because I wanted to make a loop of video fit a 4 bar beat, another app would be better for this. I would say this is the right price for a product that feels not quite finished but is a lot of fun if you have the patience and time which maybe there is more off ATM.
I liked this vid I liked most ....

so nothing was changed, except the price went from the price of purchase to IAPs?

I like it a lot, always need to remind myself to make more time with it. Hopefully recurring revenue will lead to updates, it’s one of those apps if hate to see ending up abandoned. There’s not enough apps imo that use touch in interesting ways.

  • That's great news. I don't understand why more devs do it like that. To me it's the perfect business modell. I can try an app and if I like it I can subscribe for a month after that I can decide if I like the app enough to buy it forever. Everyone's happy, I'd say.

The idea is very good. I purchased Aparillo because I had access to sounds

Yes, a good idea, but only if the dev is a trusted one, like this one or the above case.

Thinking about it, the only downside to this is that IAPs cannot be shared over family sharing.

    what does "trusted" mean?

  • It says in description that this was developed as an add-on to VA Drums. Can it be used without VA?

I thought the visuals were pretty good no other app at the time offered anything like it. Yes, you could load a wave file and set up the visual to react to it. I really only open it to do music jams I have not touched the visuals stuff in years have forgotten most of what little I knew.

Yes, you can use it in AUM

  • Would like to see PerplexOn tear into this app if he hasn’t already

What I want to say is that if an untrusted developer leaves their apps die, you will still lose in-app purchases, even if you will be able to download the apps again via the purchased section of your account.

So if the developer is not well structured and reliable, this type of approach is not a good idea.

I just saw that all IAPs in Reason Compact are on sale.

I love reason. It's my favourite desktop daw, but I really have no REASONS to purchase mentioned IAPs. They prooved that they are not working on this stuff hard. For me it's abandonedware.

@Hanna from Reason was on this forum last time in June 2020 :(

Almost like a message from the future!
On topic: I didn't even know there is Reason Compact. That's too bad about what you said.

I love this thread. Wanted the unlocks for Reason Compact and I wouldn't have known until this thread. I even paid full price for Europa a few months ago.

Now, if only Thor was on sale.

I stopped caring whether a DAW was abandoned now that I have AUv3 samplers. I make the patch, then I sample the audio into my sampler of choice. Or I make the sounds I want. Even if IAA gets deprecated, I can still make screen recordings and extract the audio. Or sample via the headphone jack.

Trying not to be tempted by this as I’ve already got the iap for ampify groovebox, this one does sound sweet though...
