Strange. I had the same problems with iOS 8.0. Since 8.1 Airdrop works much more reliable -- but only with files inside the Photo app or Good Reader.
I've been successfully transferring files and folders back and forth between my MacBook Air (Running OS X Yosemite), iPad and iPhone both running iOS8.1.
My main 'file handler app' for now in iOS is iFiles (http://www.ifilesapp.com). It's still missing the option of being a 'File Provider' for other apps under iOS8, but as i understood it it's coming very soon.
I did encounter problems with 'Documents by Readle' which was unable to process an air-dropped folder, it just disappeared when i selected Documents by Readle as destination, guess this is a bug too, sending folders over airdrop failed too (zipping is an option though that works). No problems with iFiles with folders or files...
Both apps support 'Wifi Drive'(access content thru web-browser) and have 'Web downloaders' for easy file downloads and support all file types you can throw at them.
Now back to the topic.
Audioshare has it's place on the iOS platform, but to be honest I'd rather see a very good 'Fileshare App' accompanied by a separate superior audio-editor and with a Fileshare extensions it would have pretty much transparent access to files stored in the 'Fileshare App'.
For Future iOS8.x updates i do wish Apple would allow all developers to access at least the 'Documents' folder of all the apps on the device making it possible to open/move/copy files between apps without iFunBox or Jailbreaks...
Maybe Apple could create a system-wide FileProvider Extension that automatically shares every installed apps Documents folder?
Oh, yeah, if possible a 'Wifi-Drive' option for Audioshare would be totally awesome
Looking forward to the next update
I think the AirDrop thing is just plain buggy. Now suddenly I got it working, I could send a soundfile from AudioShare to my MacBook just fine! The other way around still gets stuck in "waiting" though. So, I don't think I'm doing anything wrong in AudioShare, after all the API is as simple as "I want to share/send/do-something with this file here".

I notice these 'waiting' messages on OS X side if the target app on iOS is frontmost and also no 'pop-up' will show to select what to do with the incoming files/folders...
... but If I'm in the 'Springboard' on iOS i get the pop-up to select which app should handle the files/folders that are incoming.
So yeah, Airdrop and iOS has it's share of bugs and 'workarounds' as usual...
That kills my iPad integration again. All those beta software from apple.... Makes my iPad nearly useless. When even their own devices will not talk together. The bluetooth LE is also buggy as hell. WTF.
Well, between iPhone and iPad and vice versa i have no problems.
Just got caught up in Dilla beats this morning and was reminded of this thread. In case anyone is missing the "J-Lilla" compliment here's a 45 minute mix of his beats and a Mini Documentary
Youtube is chock full of Dilla stuff, thankfully. Starting to become chock full of stuff related to J-Lilla's work!
@j_liljedahl is audio share only 16bit? Can it go to 24bit?
@Deb: it currently records only in 16 bits, but that will change. However, playback is 16, 24 or even 32 bits. The built-in IAA host is 32 bits.
Awesome sauce...can't wait for the update!
Something many have been asking for is coming in AudioShare 2.7: waveform zooming! But it's not the ordinary pinch-to-zoom, but an auto-zoom like the one in the video trimming built into iOS. While dragging a trim handle, hold still for a second and it will zoom in to a fixed level (currently 2 pixels per millisecond) until you release the handle again. Here's a video:
Shut the front door!
@syrupcore: huh?

I'll go for the less publicly acceptable "fuck yeah!!" .. That zoom is better than anyone described. I would expect nothing less!

+1 on that. Awesome design.
I'll go the meme route.
Thanks! That "Shut the front door" was new for me

Cool beans!!! (Not literally).
Can't wait.
pffft… and what did you guys expect, nothing to see here just J.Lilla being J.Lilla!
I suppose when someone yells 'Shut the front door!' in November in Sweden it's got a pretty different ring to it.
Sorry for 'merican euphemisms. I just didn't actually expect to see this in AudioShare pretty much ever. Very very good news!
Well done!
[Edit: It would seem harsh, callous, mean-spirited and selfishly vulgar to mention that I live in hope for the addition one day of some kind of fading capability so I won't do that, no.]
@syrupcore: Exactly, I was thinking "I'm sure I shut it already, it's cold outside!"...
@JohnnyGoodyear: That's what I'm working on right now actually, can't promise it will be finished for the 2.7 update though.
That sounds awesome. Is there any chance you could also add a full screen view of the waveform? That's what I always imagined as the zoom feature. I think it would be nice especially on the iPad mini. I'm looking forward to the update!
Would like a way of browsing through the files like Audiobus does (I mean showing alphabet).
@J_liljedal: i want a baby from you! In form of a full fledged DAW
First of all I'd love to see an option 'replace or overwrite' sample after finishing edits.
This could be implemented by 'hold tap' the save button and select overwrite/replace.
This would be very handy 'space saver' when trimming long audio clips.
I know multiple 'selections' per file may be out of scope for AudioShare, but this could be used to slice'n'dice a sample into multiple 'selections' (Think of Beatmakers 'Sample Bounds' & 'Chop Marks'). These could be implemented as 'Sample Aliases' so that when another app tries to open a 'Sample Alias' only the 'selection' is sent to the requesting app.(Don't know if this is even possible to do with the current state of iOS).
Also it would be really neat if the 'record' dialog would have an option to stay open once a sample has been recorded to allow recording of additional takes/sounds without leaving the dialog. This would create a pretty fast workflow for capturing live audio and with the new zoom functions in AudioShares forthcoming editor it might as well end up being a 'one stop sampling app' for raw material that will later be sequenced with other apps.
And while I'm talking about the built in recorder, a 'record to folder' (at least when doing multiple takes while remaining in the record dialog) would be really neat.
It's really funny, that, the more i use the apps i have the more ideas they spark for new ideas for improvements...
And I can almost feel like the devs think to them selves like 'Tänkte inte på det'(Didn't think about it that way).
Hopefully these ideas make at least a little sense
^ I like these ideas
(not sure about the selections idea, but mostly because I don't see myself using it)
+1 samu. I like 'em. The aliases idea is a very clever one for saving space.
Oooops, didn't see Jonatan already posted it some posts upstream.
