Wow, good find! That looks very nice (and prompted me to follow Jonathan on Twitter ) The zoom feature will be helpful.
@Samu Thanks for the suggestions! I'm writing them all down, except the multiple-selections and aliases (which I don't think is even possible)..
And please add a way to collapse the browser to have the full width for the waveform. Thanks!

+1 for this...
For me it would feel natural and 'AudioShare Like' to just double-tap on the waveform to hide the browser and maximize the editing area and double-tap again to show the browser.
I've already by mistake tried to double-tap the waveform to see what happens
@Samu: Done! But I added it as a full screen toggle button instead, since double-tapping the waveform would interfere with the play cursor interaction.
However, fullscreen is only supported on iOS8.

Nice!
Maybe I'm missing something here @j_liljedahl ?
If I tap or double tap the waveform while nothing is playing the 'play-head' is set at the position where i tap, nothing else happens?
When a file is playing the tap or double-tap on the waveform just sets the 'play-head' position and continues playback.
Should there be like automatic 'play from tapped position' when double-tapping if nothing is playing?
I can understand that single-tap sets the position which could be useful for 'fade in/out' from current position to file start/end considering that the new zoom function would be perfect for pinpointing the start for the fade in/out function
A zoom? FANTASTIC NEWS!
@Samu: To detect a double-tap, it needs to wait to see if there's another tap or not, which would delay setting the play cursor (unless it sets the cursor AND switches to fullscreen). However, since there's now also a built-in text editor, there's not always a waveform displayed, so I still think a separate fullscreen toggle button is the way to go.
Here's a video showing it in action, along with the shiny new FADE IN / OUT function! At last!

Thanks for the explanation, makes sense.
Love the new trim & fade function, will be very handy to get rid of clicks & pops in the beginning & end of the trimmed selection.
I feel this is going to be one awesome update!
Let's hope more developers implement support for AudioShare or at least start to use the file-provider extensions to access files, would be so nice to export files from other apps straight into AudioShare making it a nice solution for managing all audio files.
Dare we all ask for ETA for this update?
NO. YOU MAY NOT DARE. YOU WILL SIT WITH A BOVINE SMILE SECURE IN KNOWING THAT THE LILJADAHL IS EVEN NOW AND AS OUR CHILDREN SLEEP AT WORK TO MAKE THE WORLD SAFE AND ZOOMY ALSO.
:-)
What about adding an option 'Wait for Input' to the recorder to wait until there is actual input before starting to record from IAA-Generators & Instruments?
This saves time by not having to trim the empty space in the beginning of a file every time when recording from different apps.
A real timesaver for setting trim points would be to have an option to 're-trig' the playback at marker point when moving the markers or to have some form of 'audio-scrub'?
Since the 'zoom' feature is not yet available, does it allow 'scrolling' when the marker reaches the edge of the screen/wave-area?
I'd also love alternate/custom colors for the wave-view making things a little easier to see...
I'll continue to add feature requests that should hopefully make sense to keep things rolling
"What about adding an option 'Wait for Input' to the recorder to wait until there is actual input before starting to record from IAA-Generators & Instruments?"
This would personally be extremely useful and time-saving. Combined with the wonderful snap to grid feature it would be so quick to cleanly cut a set number of bars.
If it's tricky to implement, an alternative might be a quick 'one click' way to trim the leading silence on any clip. This would achieve the same thing.
Looking forward to the update anyway. This app gets so much use from me these days.
(I'd love a 'slice to equal length slices' tool one day, like iMPC Pro - but maybe that's not a priority).
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 said:
iMPC Pro has this 'feature' built in, when arming recording it says 'waiting for input' and only starts recording once the IAA-Instrument/Genrator starts to produces output, stopping the recording has to be done manually though
I'm hoping it's easy to implement too, maybe it's just a 'loop' that needs to be in place waiting for input from the IAA-Node?
I have faith in that @j_liljedahl will be able to fix this
i love playing audio share like an instrument, load up a loop and tap out rhythmically around on the waveform, just wanna make sure we keep that.
Couple of other thoughts:
often I audiobus into Audioshare so it would be great to have both a loop and a delete button on the AB tab. That way I could listen back to the take and delete if I wasnt happy (from the performance app). That would be a big time saver
a way to take the effect tail and paste it over the start of a loop when making loops would be great. So kind of 'copy segment' and then 'overdub paste'. Or could just be a case of trimming down the effect tail as a separate file (already possible) and then being allowed to overdub paste this onto the start of a loop. Maybe all to tricky but thought I'd ask. (I know I could use Cubasis or BM2 for this I guess).
Master Record will also do "wait for input"
Another simple feature that comes to mind is 'split file' at marker position.
This would come in handy when chopping up a longer recording to more manageable size chunks for further editing or splitting beat and reverb-tail into separate files etc.
I know feeding new ideas will postpone releases so I'll try to hold myself for a while
Fade In and Fade Out = THANK YOU!
Thanks for all suggestions! I'm writing it down for future possible updates
is there a way for Audioshare to remember the folder and file i was in when i closed the app?
it would be great to have the app open in the exact same state as i closed it...
i have about 50gb of samples so this coupled with a way to tag favourites would be great, maybe a history of samples exported?
This is pretty much the only app i use for samples....looking forward to the update...

Good comment.
As our libraries continue to grow (and boy do they) issues of file management, opening, tagging, prioritization etc etc are assuming ever great importance...
I'm really looking forward to this update, but i know... 'it's done when it's done'
One feature that would be a real time-saver would be to have a 'web-interface' for uploading/downloading files to/from AudioShare, i know, it's possible to go thru DropBox but...
Personally for now i use the Web-Interface on iFiles to upload Zip-files and the use 'Open In..' and transfer the zip files to Audio Share and extract there...
The existing web interface in Audioshare works fine for downloading at least some files. Not sure about uploading though.
@Fitz said:
As it is now it's a 'web-browser' only download and it works nicely, no uploads unless i put up my own web-server to host the files locally on my computer
I somehow think it should be possible to 'record' web-audio too using the Browser (recording streaming 'web-audio' to AudioShare using the built in browser).
