  • Omg, this update is beautiful. Audioshare was already my most used app on the pad, but this really bumps it up to the next level. Graphics are updated and look beautiful. The zoom function is all I've dreamed for and more. Haven't fully explored it, but man, this is awesome :)

  • Effing Sweet, my Christmas is complete! :D

  • The elves have made a comeback

    got to love their attitude

and all is well in (L)appland

    now Apple has reviewed...

  • All I can say is,,,You betcha, My new ipad air arrives this week and I can not get this on my ipad mini with ios7.0.6 which I am leaving that way. The air will be 8. Two new things to install right off the get go. FM4 and now this. Surprise, Surprise!!!

  • Is there a way to have Audioshare let you hear a preview of a midi file?
I got a lot of drum midi files, I can see the play arrow, click it but it doesn't play anything?

  • edited December 2014

Seriously though: Fade, trim zoom, sort by size. AND something about IAA Zombie nodes.....

It really is a beautiful thing. Excellent work Mister. Very Appy™

The preview of MIDI file, at least for me, is a low volume monotone in AudioShare. I "Open in..." Symphonix Evolution (there are another ones, but I found this quite good preserving the sound). Music Studio, for example, produce some random results (by default). If there are MIDI drum files, you can choose among more apps (DrumStudio is one of my favs).

Anyway, this update is amazing, I can't believe that is free of charge. Lot of job under the skin. Thanks, thanks, thanks...

  • Yeah, this is one awesome update!!!! Thanks so much! We need to spread the word about this amazing app. It really is a must have for any serious IOS musician.

Reg midi files, I kind of wished it would have some GM soundfont built in to preview GM drum midi files. This would really be so productive as you wouldn't need to go thru the Open In procedure for each midi file. Would it be too much to perhaps add this to the future update wish list?
I have a really awesome GM soundfont that I van share with the developer if needed. :)

Thanks so much for this amazing app...hope sales go thru the roof! Wish you all a prosperous New Year!

  • Congrats on and thank you for the release jonatan. Only tried it on iPhone so far but it's looking good.

Anyone know of another app that has implemented the document picker functionality? I want to test the new feature but don't know how to!

Is it just me, or do files sound better now on Audioshare? I just updated and played a couple of tracks that I've had on there forever. They sound more alive and more awesome than they did before the update. I didn't see "sounds more awesome" on the update list. Maybe my ears are just too fired up from all the awesomeness that has just been handed to us!... I think it's a good idea to leave a stellar review for the new version on the App Store, I just did.

  • Be sure to leave a review.

  • Would also love to hear more about 'document picker functionality'.

And please add a way to collapse the browser to have the full width for the waveform. Thanks!

    Wish came true! Awesome!

Unfortunately, I've discovered something rather concerning in the new update.. When audio is on 'loop' in trim mode, changes to the audio start and end points are not audible in real time - only after lifting your finger from the screen do changes snap. If I recall correctly you could change the start point of the audio, and after the loop cycled through to the end it would begin from the new start point as designated by where you left your finger on the wave display. This allowed the fine tuning of start and end points while the audio was looping. Now you've got to guess where the point will be, and take your finger off to hear the result. This begins to grow old when you've got to wait a second for the audio to zoom, find your new point, take finger off to hear results and repeat. And even if you don't need the zoom function, any idleness will activate it. Any who make loops, especially when the duration of the looped audio is very short, will know how important it is to hear changes in real time.

I love the new functions, but discovering this is a disappointment. I hope this isn't an intentional addition, and can be addressed in a future update. I'm guessing that the new 'hold to zoom' function is related to this editing limitation. Has anybody else noticed this as well?

  • I LOVE THIS APP :-)

It's getting better and better with every update, file provider and file picker extensions are working like a charm too, by default only iCloud is selected, but no need to activate iCloud Documents just add other providers from the location tab.

As mentioned here when in loop mode it would be really neat if the playback would 'restart' when changing the start point and 'scrub' when in zoom-mode.

The Fileprovider extension also works as intended (it's easy to access AudioShare files from both Google Drive app and DropBox app, Documents 5 refuses).

What will be the first music app to implement FilePicker support?
Korg Gadget, Beatmaker 3, Cubasis, iMPC Pro?

This app truly deserves a 5-Star rating in the AppStore :)

I'm hoping next version will bring 'Stay in Record Dialog' after recording, and 'Wait for input' (Especialy useful with IAA-Generators).

And I think I'm not alone being interested in what the TODO list for AudioShare already includes :)

  • Korg Gadget samplers with direct access to Audioshare library would be amazingly useful.

  • So what's the difference between accessing dropbox directly or using Doc picker > dropbox?

    Any advantage of the latter?

We can get this if we start to 'bombard' Korg on how important it is to be 'standards compliant', meaning on iOS8 use the Filepicker/Fileprovider extensions when possible.
(I think Korg already internally uses this to 'transfer/sync' files between module and Gadget).

And when it comes to Gadget, I hope next version will also allow us to delete samples we import into Gadget (This is another area that should be mandatory, ie. all apps that are able to create files should also have a way of deleting them).

And well, I do like Korg stuff and as silly as it may sound i would actually pay IAP to get iElectribe (And well full PolySix and iMS-20 and iKaossilator) inside Gadget (Imagine the automatization possibilities, way more flexible than the current iApp versions).

    Sorry for OT Gadget blabbering...

    Any advantage of the latter?

Only difference i think is that the AudioShare built-in DropBox support can be used without having the DropBox.app installed while if using Doc Picker the DropBox.app has to be installed otherwise it would not be possible to use DropBox at all.

So Doc Picker actually makes it easier for developers add DropBox support by including support for Doc Picker and when DropBox does updates the developer can 'rely' on that DropBox updates their app thus it's minimum fuzz to get a functioning DropBox integration.

I'm thinking more new apps for 2015 will include Doc Picker support and it's good to know that our favorite Audio File-Manager is already in the game :)

  • Actually I think one difference is:

Import from dropbox goes to the Dropbox server (so you need an Internet connection).

Import from file picker > Dropbox goes to the Dropbox app and picks up files stored in your Dropbox app (so could be used offline).

Personally I don't store anything in my Dropbox app though (due to space shortages).

This is guess work though. I haven't tested this.

    This does make sense.
My iPad is not 'linked'(= no off-line files) to DropBox.app.
In Google Drive I've also disable sync, so no off-line files there either.

Thus i can access all my files in DropBox or GoogleDrive using Doc Picker when i have Internet Connection (which is most of the time using either Wifi or Cellular).

I have to say also Thumbs Up for the WiFi drive in AudioShare, works really well.

One thing we 'loose' with FilePicker/FileProvider implementation is direct access to the files using iFunBox but since the WiFI drive works fine and there is a 'move' feature it's not such a big loss.

A couple of issues I have noticed whilst using the update on iPhone....

    • When recording via IAA from Sampletank, the IAA transport controls don't work.....apart from the seconds counter.

    • Can't seem to link my Soundcloud account....every time I log in and select it again it asks to log in again?

  • edited December 2014

Thanks for the update, especially for the zoom feature and the new look. Thumbs up! But I'm also disappointed that the bpm setting on the trim page will still default to 120 bpm. The last used bpm value should be memorized. That would save a lot of time. One more thing: If I try to access the music library, a white screen appears and nothing more happens.

  • Who knows what @j_liljedahl has on his TODO-List for AudioShare?

I do love the new 'zoom' feature but wish it could zoom in even more, with the retina screens I'm thinking ~8 screen-pixels per sample is enough for pinpoint sample-accurate editing.

I do wish that in 2015 TwistedWave will get Doc Picker support and be able to directly edit samples stored in AudioShare...

  • Given that I was still discovering "new" features in the previous version of AudioShare 10 months after I downloaded it, it will probably take me another year to fully appreciate the new features in this one. But the zoom feature is definitely appreciated for more precise loop-making! One thing that is still a minor annoyance (I think) is that to create a loop of a particular snapped length, I think you would have to clip the start point first, have a new "trimmed" file, and then set up "snap to beat" with that new start point and clip a new file. I repeated this a lot in the old version, and you end up with 3 files when you really just want one. But the fact that it even does this as a non-DAW utility app is amazing. It's absolutely essential.

Document Picker is huge because I think you get like 15 GB of free Google Drive space, plus the ability to use iCloud (5 GB). I had exclusively been using DropBox before, which is very convenient with AudioShare, but my free DB account was only like 3.75 GB.

There are little visual and interface improvements all over the place that also help the app a lot. In particular, I love the larger play buttons with circular loop indicator. Great update!

  • How did you get the extra google drive space?

  • @Musikman4Christ said:

When Google 'purchased' Quick Office they had a free promo offering of extra 15GB space to all those who had gotten the app in advance, now Quick Office seems to be have discontinued...

At least that was how i got my 15GB's 'extra' on Google Drive.

  • Ok cool. I've been using Onedrive as they gave me 30 Gigs for free but wouldn't mind some more in Gdrive. :)

I'm thinking OneDrive is also accessible thru Doc Picker right?
