  • @aplourde AU works fine.

  • you guys are making it hard to resist this purchase, please stop!!! 🛑 ✋🏾

  • @reasOne The pads give me goosebumps, so tasty.

Anyone noticed you can’t save presets in the app??

You can make a folder in Files, create and save presets in standalone and that folder will show up in AU. I emailed him about saving presets in AU and he is looking into it

Great. Yes stand-alone is ok, AU not.

Also worth to mention that it seems to offer microtuning. A thing i would like in ALL synths.

Does this work in the AU? I believe @Carnbot indicated that it might only be in the standalone.

This is the thing that might push me off the fence.... Yes it sounds great, but for 99% of what I would use a Juno for (pads down in the mix) I'm sure I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this or Zeeon or iSEM. Microtuning however....

Well, for me personally Zeeon sounds better anyway and is a lot more versatile but not as plug and play.

Anybody manage to get Bank Change working via midi?

Looks like Program Change is fixed to Factory bank only.

Also seems to have lost my midi mappings when changing bank too?

Must have accidentally hit Midi Clear. Not keen on that being exposed so easily, would prefer that hidden in options. It's too easy to wipe away invested time setting up the midi learn.

I do like how easy the midi learn is though.

And of course the synth sounds great!
I’ve emailed the dev about this, midi cc maps are lost every time you reboot the app.

Got a reply, he said there’s a way to save a preset as a default setting, and then you would use midi lock to avoid it changing when you change the preset. I have asked for clarification about where to save the preset.

Yeah, Zeeon + FAC Chorus have me covered sonically for "Juno" sounds, but microtuning is tempting...

It's still not a specific instrument. With TAL-U-NO-LX you get a direct line into your veins of pure Roland Juno joy.

  • There's a voice tuning mode in the AU, but you can't load .tun files as far as I can see.

  • edited April 2020

I didn't get too much time with it last night, but did play. I really like it, love the chorus. Tonight will be getting through the presets. If you like the sound of Roland synths I think this is one of those easy decisions. If you have the cash and need, that is.

Then again, i'm the guy who buys everything and pretty much likes most of it. hehe

Yeah maybe - I was saving my pennies in the hope the rock Lumbeat drummer will go on sale, as I don’t have any of his apps. I’ll have to negotiate with the Mrs later.

Fwiw, if you don’t have any LUMBeats apps, rock drummer might not be the one to get. Some of them are buckets of awesomeness but the reviews from people of rock drummer are a much more mixed bag than Funk Drummer, Jazz Drummer or Soft Drummer. Several others are very good , too. I don’t have rock drummer based on what I’ve been told and heard. But,ymmv. There may be rock drummer fans out there.

Rock Drummer is cheese, the sounds are too heavy and processed for me. Soft Drummer and Funk Drummer are my personal favourites.

    Oh ok, cheers both.

Has Jazz Drummer been on sale? That might be better, otherwise I’ve always wanted the Middle Eastern one.

Jazz Drummer not likely to go on sale -- but really worth the price. The MidEast Drummer is excellent.

I agree with all of the above posts... My other fave is the Afro Latin kit and I do love the Brazilian kit. I like some of the individual sounds in Reggae Drummer, but, like Rock Drummer, it just doesn’t get it quite right like his best do. I’ll still buy anything/everything LUMBeats puts out...

  • Soft Drummer is life. If you max bpm and double time, it becomes blast beat drummer.

I buy everything but I need to stop.

It reminds me of the hours spent programming a Roland JX-3P without the optional programmer hardware add-on. Good times. 2 hours to make and save a user patch.
Chasing sounds it could never duplicate. But still... that Roland sound was thrilling for
a synth on my budget. It's still a great synth engine... I'll probably get it after the credit card stops glowing in the dark from overheating.

The JX-3P is an excellent synth. A good buddy of mine in college had one with the PG-200 controller. That and an Alesis Ion I purchased in ‘05 were my first foray into synthesis. I miss them both.

  • This is so melt in your mouth and In your hands good!

I was up until 2 am auditioning sounds.

This saved me 399. Instead of buying the JU-02A or dealing with sketchy old gear.

  • FIXED CC MAPS ISSUE

Previously I found that my cc mapping was instantly lost on reboot. I emailed the dev and there's a workaround in the absence of the app remembering the map every time.

Map your CCs and save the preset as 'default' in:
    On My iPad / TAL-U-NO-LX / presets

This will create a go-to default patch that will be loaded on every boot up. From there, the app will remember cc maps when changing presets. The dev suggested I turn on 'midi lock' to do this, but I found I didn't need it.

It's not as good as other apps which remember cc maps, but it's just one click away. Better than nothing!

I’ve missed that one anyway, but I’ve got enough EDM sounds coming out of my lugholes already.

I’ve always had my eye on the Middle Eastern one though, so I’ll keep an eye on the sales for that. Giving this synth a miss though, got Drambo to keep me occupied for a bit.

But I’m going to argue the case for opening one of the stock cupboard Pringle tins tonight, since it’s Friday.

We’ve actually got about seven boxes. Mostly from when I was doing the shopping, and became confused and kept buying Pringles instead of eggs, butter and potatoes etc.

Nice, I love the sound of the juno for synth bass, very different flavor than the moog. I’ll probably get this eventually, but still getting acquainted with my monologue. I may have to plug the alpha juno 2 in tonight though , we’ll see where I am at with the song I’m working on currently.
