  • @cian, sure! Resizing is something I had assumed was easy, but it is not so much unless you build it in from the start.
    Well, I have learned a ton about the process and that will find it’s way into future releases.

    Standalone and AUM versions work better for me on a 10.5"...interesting to know how it's working on other ipads...

  • It’s full size in standalone but AU size is now smaller on 12.9 so worse, I never used the standalone so this is not good for my use :neutral:

    This was something @Hainbach was keen to get right so worth feeding back. He's been active in this thread so may pick up on this.

    It's useable but makes the experience just slightly more frustrating as the controls were already quite small on 12.9, it needs to be bigger, and it's about 10% smaller now... I emailed the support for feedback. They have exact same problem that Sugar bytes had with their AU apps, shared bitmap assets across desktop and ipad apps.

    Initially SB apps had a fixed AU size, but they managed to solve it and now their AUs scale accordingly. So it's possible, just hope they don't stop there to solve it. :)

  • It now JUST fits on my 9.7 as an AU. So sort of usable now I guess. Better than nothing but another tweek wouldn’t hurt.

    +1 same here - au on 12,9 is still too small - some faders in the modulation section are just not tweakable due to a super weird/small spot at which they can get grabbed ...

    And - the horizontal movement for the oscillators is much better in theory - but it feels again super quirky ,,, and doesn’t give a smooth and/or precise handling ...

    I would really like to be enthusiastic about this update - but I am sorry, that I can’t be ,,, no real improvement for me ,,, here .,

    And yes, it would be nice if the app could scale bigger in AU on an IPad 12,9 - but if this is technically not possible - it would be ok - but then the „small“ faders should at least be super comfortable and precise to grab ... otherwise its no fun to tweak it - and I guess that what this app is all about - being a deep enjoyment of tweaking, tweaking, tweaking - and I really hope it will become such a joy ... cause again: I love its sound!

  • Oh it’s already out! I haven’t even been able to test it myself yet. Please give the the 12.9 feedback to [email protected] - I only have a small Air so I can’t test that behaviour. Off to play with it now.

  • @Bon_Tempi I can’t confirm quirky behaviour on the knobs up top. Horizontal knob behaviour is fine for me, and a lot better. Please check you are not in “harmonic mode” or have quantisation/scale active.

    Reliability, control of modulation section and size in standalone is much improved here (iPad Air 3).

    I wish iOS sales would permit me buying an enormous iPad as you all use so I could check, but I don’t think we will get there with this rather niche instrument. So please keep reporting what you find.

    I already contacted via email more than once, but no reply! Really hope he can fix this scaling issue on the 12.9" iPad Pro.

  • Is it just my imagination, or does this sound significantly better than before the update? It sounded great before but now it sounds richer and fuller somehow.

  • @skiphunt: Well that is good to hear! Nothing was changed on the audio side, but I know that the higher the sample rate the better it will sound. I recorded all sounds at 96kHz and running it at that unlocks a different richness.

The bitmaps are shared across all iPads and desktop and it's better now on 9.7 screens to the detriment of the 12.9 screens.

    As mentioned above, Sugar bytes had the same issue when they first released their apps as AUv3, the guis were fixed and had problems on different ipad sizes, but they did work out a way to scale their guis with the AU window. So fingers crossed that Fundamental gets a similar solution eventually as would be really nice to scale the window to the full size across all ipads. :)

  • Yeah it’s definitely better on my old iPad Pro 9.7...
    Sometimes when changing frequencies with the dials, there’s a stepping effect, rather than a smooth shift. I’m not sure if that’s expected behaviour, my CPU showing its age, or an interface bug?

  • @Krupa the app is pretty demanding, so it is likely that. Four wavetable OSCs per voice and thousands of wavetables running to get it to sound good. We would not compromise on sound in any way - It’s maybe the Crysis of music apps.

    Cheers, I presumed so - I still love the sounds I get from it. I find it pleasing to set something up and let it run, perhaps occasionally adjust the master frequency which seems not to do the same thing, and I’m sure at some point I’ll have a faster device :)

    @Hainbach I gave feedback about the bad scaling to the developer via e-mail more than once, but there is no respond at all! Looks like not a very good promotion for 'Fundamental' to me.

    It would indeed be fantastic to see you tackle apps like iVCS3, ilep, FieldScaper, Tardigrain, Borderlands, ipulsaret, Sector, and so on (plenty of recommendations in that thread) in a video (or indeed more than one video... :) ).

    Plenty to complement Fundamental there: a real software counterpart to ‘How to Hainbach on a budget’. Seriously, a fistful of these, some of the quirkier FX apps like Classic FX and some of the great midi manipulation tools like Rozeta Suite, Art Kern’s Midi Gates, and Midi LFOs, loaded up into AUM, whose great File Player tool lets you do additionally all sorts of ‘tape recorder’ style wav manipuation of any channel recording you make in it, usable on any kind of idevice - even a couple of years old phone - has to be the definitively cheapest way to get into free form sonic exploration outside the confines of DAW orientated EDM...

    Yes, it would be awesome to see you bring your uniquely special sauce to such an endeavour. Here’s hoping...

    Thanks! But the developer already knew that and reply on feedback-email is too much for him obviously. I'm sorry, lost my trust in the developer.
