  • Not yet, but I will do when I get some time. They seem like an unsurprisingly perfect pairing

  • Hi - I am running this on an ipad gen 8 (2020) ios 14.2. If I load fundamental into Aum and load the preset pitchbend4 - the dsp runs at 97+ and the audio breaks up. Is there something else I should be doing to run this app (apart from buying a better ipad)? No other app uses so much dsp!

  • Wow, do u mean pitchbendm preset? Number 2 in the factory presets? Probably your bugger size is too low. Go into settings and check, maybe put it higher and try. With a buffer of 64 my dsp for this preset is 88 on a 3rd gen Pro. With a buffer of 1024 it is around 30 percent.

  • And sometimes as low as 15

    Little buggers...

  • Lol, buffer

  • My buffer/bugger size was 256 - I am triggering the envelope with rozzeta rhythm.

  • Thanks Gavinski - that helped - I put my buffer size up to 1024. The next thing is the frustration trying to change say the envelope value .... if I have time running in Aum and I double click on the value - the keyboard menu disappears! I have to stop things running in Aum - then double click the env value - then run time in Aum again.....really breaks the flow!

I am wondering how a number of sine waves in Drambo - with saturation and feedback.... how much dsp would that take? This is still getting high even with the buffer size up.

  • The interface - tiny windows for values(eg env time) etc is REALLY frustrating!

  • I didn’t notice anyone mention the new update for this, the most prominent feature added was a new envelope type that has a faster attack and decay, which I’ve put to use in this little piece, first part of a set I’m (very slowly) putting together.

Fundamental through Undulator, Crushstation, Ultratap and Blackhole, oh and I used JAF DJ filter at the front to control most of it, that and changing envelope times and types in Fundamental. I’d like to try and cc automate this sort of thing so i can do a bit more than I can do live on my old iPad, or maybe I should just map it to my old alesis photon

  • I was excited to see this update but mine seems to have a weird bug where, on launch, it keeps jumping from one preset to another. Anyone else? Dev contacted, awaiting response.

That’s a shame, that’s definitely not happening for me, though I’ve learned lately to save my presets, as it tends to not load properly/crash when reloading my AUM sessions...

Is that maybe because the session was saved with the preset running? Try turning if off before saving and see if that helps, because I remember this being an issue.

Ah cool, I’ll check that out, nice one 🙏

That seemed to help, though a reboot of the iPad was needed before I could get the project to reload fundamental without all the other plugins crashing, so that might have been part of my trouble as well 😄

Actually, on further testing, it still crashes on loading with this preset saved, even if I turn off the trigger and slide the plugin left as though im about to eject it, or any combination of those steps... never mind, it’s fine enough loading the presets, and actually prompts me to save them, instead of my usual lazy self relying on aum to look after me 😁

  • Has anyone tried mapping this up with one of the Launchpad things? - I've been hesitating on some sort of MPE thing for a year now, but swinging towards one of these more general purpose tool as it's mostly the expression I'm after rather than pitch bends, though I think something might be possible with a custom map as well...

  • I truly love Fundamental, it’s got a great character! What’s nice to do in AUM: put the the K7 Delay behind it and after that the Lunar Lander delay. Play with the time and feedback controls of the K7 for some crazy stuff. While it’s great as it is maybe an idea for the future: multibus output for each channel 🤟🤞

  • Is this app still worth picking up!? I haven’t yet but thinking about it. Its not cheap!

Fundamental2 is great for what it does, despite having a seriously less than ideal UI. I have so many apps at this point, and use very very few of them, but this is one I still use a lot. You like experimental stuff, you should maybe grab it. Be prepared for frustration dialing in quickly and accurately the exact frequency you want on the oscillators, you might have to use numerical entry to do so, which is frankly an absolute disgrace on a drone synth. So I mostly don't manually tweak the frequencies when performing with it.

I love noises and fundamental seems kinda in that ballpark but oscillators based instead of samples… the comments def make this thing seem like a pain to tweak especially as an au! I haven’t had a chance to really watch the videos on it yet but I’ll probably just start with yours

Yeah, that vid will be helpful, the manual was a real fucking slog tbh. It now has some new features, ring mod and the morph pad, you might want to read the relevant sections of the manual to get up to speed on those.
