Yeah, you can have my spot, I’m jumping off later
Well just did a quick little jam using the latest update and all appears to be working well on the iPad to macOS workflow over Wifi. There are definitely some nice touches on the Clips Launcher view...the radial progress is a lot better...and I really love the visible counter on the Clip as you record. Things just feel snappier across the board in the update.
Now, as far as who Touchable Pro is designed for...well, it's for anyone who uses Ableton and wants to get away from the Mouse during the creation phase of their composing workflow. Touchable Pro gives you access to all the essential composing views and tools you might want to have while composing. There is a little bit of setup required, but no more than what is required of you when using a Push 2.
The workflow might seem a little overwhelming at first, but this original set of tutorials should be more than enough to get you started and familiar with the UI layout and workflow (it really makes sense after you watch the videos):
These are from Touchable 3, but the workflow for the most part is the same in Pro:
Touchable Pro specific details can be found here:
The UI has been cleaned up a lot in Touchable Pro...and it just feels so much more solid and optimized for being able to use Ableton on your iPad...it's really a great way to play your instruments and arrange your tracks when you can't be around the Push 2, or you just want to not mess with the mouse.
Let me know if you have any specific questions, and I'll try and record some videos to cover those specific areas if I know how to do it.
Cheers.
haha, nice!
Still don't see any update special price or bundles for Touchable 3 users.
@echoopera Really appreciate that. I'm in. Sorry to leave you on your lonesome @SpookyZoo
Yeah, that’s the only thing holding me back from buying, hopefully that’s settled soon...
Also still waiting on prices......

+1 thanks @echoopera very helpful.
Have you dived in @JohnnyGoodyear ? I’m very impressed with the depth of the app, and relieved to see they’re squashing bugs. Last tiny fence-sit is to make sure I’ll absolutely use it, and not just carry on with the trackpad a week later.
Edit - slightly concerned by the comments about issues on their forum, particularly having to use iP6. Hmmm.
Haven't yet mate. When faced with a cold sea I jump right in, but with technology I have a weakness, approaching intial bits that might be tricky, to delay/put off/procrastinate Maybe tonight.....
I’m a bit concerned about the connection issues reported on their forum, and talk of having to change network settings. Much as it’s a wonderful looking thing, I don’t want to mess up other stuff on the laptop, or have to change the settings every time I use it. Dunno, back on the fence, but don’t want to miss out on the sale. Could do with a bit of sales talk from the dev here.
Are you running it on a Mac or PC? I haven't tested it on the PC yet...but I could and report back.
Thank you, it’ll be on my old Mac, High Sierra I think that’s on. Might sneak it onto the new one, that’s running Catalina at some point.
Dev says “we now use a udp discovery (making use of upd multicasting), to connect to the mobile devices. Since none of the updates seem to work for some users, we fear that the multicast feature is not active on some of your devices”. One of the users reported: “USB does work but it messes up scenes and can’t update screen. You won’t know what’s what. Update: activating iP6 in network preferences made it work wireless”
I really don’t want to have to fiddle with network settings.
Hmmmm, Just realised this is from the Modstep devs. Didn't get any support response from them in the past 3 years, maybe longer. Vacating my seat on the fence for now. Will be interested to see how this one plays out.
Support and updates definitely thin on the ground with this one. Not jumping off the fence yet, but really need to know the current version is working perfectly before a potential purchase.
FWIW, it's running fine on my Catalina box
Good to hear, thanks.
I just hope the bundle drops before the sale runs out. A bit of a chaotic release it seems.
so @cblomert what about the bundle?
Yeah, not filling me with confidence as a potential customer.
Latest update works perfectly with both Windows 10 and Mojave on Lenovo T440P. Wifi latency is improved, playing instruments via Touchable Pro is much better with this connection now. Coool!!
Anyone used this and LK? What’s your opinion of one vs the other?
I've used this app live for quite a few years now.. Never had any problems!
By far the best app for controlling Ableton
LK connects ok for me (just tested, after a glitch with missing purchases), but moving around screens is a bit of a chore. Touchable looks to have a better workflow.
Ok, bought it, and it’s pretty neat. Nice to sit on the sofa and control Ableton from there. I can’t see myself using it much, though. It’s just a lot easier to use a mouse.
This is what's holding me back - will I eventually drift back to just using the touchpad, rather than setting up the iPad each time?
still not working for me. ive tried over 100 times, re-installing the server, restarting. deleting the app, re-installing. Making sure ableton was updated, etc etc etc.
the dev is having me type in terminal commands and sending them some data from my system. hopefully they can figure it out.
I'm having a tough time adjusting to Ableton. Was going to get this app having been a fan of ModStep. Wondering and fence sitting as well if I should plunge in and give Ableton "one more big go" or just give up. Wondering if this app will make me love it more. I think my problem with it is me not the prog.
I’m not completely sure why Live suddenly clicked with me - could be the simple interface is less distracting than Logic. Certainly the browser is a lot more user friendly.
Looks like iP6 is causing issues for some, as it’s not supported by older routers. They say they’re going to include iP4 support, and provide an update shortly.
Come on dev, I’m doing your job here!
