  • As noted here and on their website, the bundle is intended as an upgrade path for touchable 3 owners.

I can’t see how much touchable 3 costs on it’s own now, but I gather from the zerodebug forum they changed the price to make the discount work with the bundle.

I’d been running the beta and holding off buying it till the bundle went live and both wired and wifi connections worked for me.

They seem to have sorted the connection issues now too so I went ahead and bought it.
(Worth noting they’ve been pretty good with customer service too. Not perfect, but they’re a small team and I think they were prioritising sorting the server issues)

The bundle was showing as £35.99 for me.

I did that thing where you scroll down the app store listing and then back up. It then changed to £15.00, because I own touchable 3. I also own touchable mini but I don’t know if that had any impact.

Why is the appstore so awful at bundles?

Touchable Pro was £18.99 when it was on sale the other week. It seemed to have gone on sale again to coincide with the bundle, albeit to £19.99 instead.

It has been a bit haphazard, I think they might have launched a bit early...

  • I don't have the app.
The old version seems to be €33 and the new one 22. The bundle is 39 which should (in theory) make the upgrade price €6. Not sure if that is any help at all for anyone

  • My bad, guess I paid $4.99 first time. Since I was refunded for the Pro, I cant buy it at again the current sale price, only the bundle, which seems to keep fluctuating from 30 to 34.99 depending. Jokes on me, I guess. Not really feeling the love for Touchable at this time, and don’t feel like spending any more coin on it.

    @Crawlingwind said:
Yes, but it isn’t right. I have $45 invested in T3 including the IAP, which came for free with TPro, it’s now telling me $30 to complete the bundle.

Edit - back to 34.99 for me. I previously purchased it and was advised by the company to ask for a refund and wait for the bundle. Now I can’t even re-purchase it because I’ve been refunded. This is a mess for me.

Thanks so much! It worked! Now I have to try to connect. What a convoluted saga...

  • Phew - a lot to unpack for a single post in a month!

Yes indeed - we did launch too early!
That's not a first for us.. but this time we really messed up bigtime!
One of the biggest issues we encountered was - as mentioned here several times - that we only used ipv6 for our recoded discovery framework..

Since we released 4 weeks ago, we have rolled out 12 or 13 'hot'-fixes to fix the issues that we encountered after the release.
We are on a good way now, but it took way too long and we can absolutely understand anyone feeling let down or pissed off!

We have since added ipv4 support as well as fixed numerous bugs that we did not find during our beta phase - and we believe it will be a much more stable experience this time around.

If any of you were holding back on trying to set it up - please give it a go again and see if you like it better! (latest servers and scripts are available here: https://zerodebug.com/#/touchable )

We'll keep fixing/improving the app for the foreseeable future!

Another issue we encountered was about the bundle:

We were hoping to give old customers a way to upgrade to the new version for less than the usual cost.. however! ...

This only works as long as the customer only purchased the iPad version back in the day. If they purchased the phone version or - worse - the bundle of both - there is no way to upgrade to the new bundle. Apple does not account for the relative worth of the apps, the bundle is an entirely new entity. We are not sure if there is any way to accomplish what we planned to do - but we'll keep trying.

For now, the sale of touchAble Pro is extended for at least one more week!

ps: we did not forget about studiomux, modstep or soda!

We hope to have some news to share about modstep soon.

soda will receive an update in the next few weeks, and studiomux is already in the works!
If any of you feel keen to try the betas - please let us know!

  • @cblomert thanks for your report!! Touchable Pro works well here since release, and update was nice too. Pm sent for beta testing.

  • Glad to hear straight from the horse's mouth that Studiomux is actually being worked on...
Hoping one day to have a positive experience with zerodebug's software...always showing great promise but never quite delivering on it.

-Touchable Pro server 1563 still intermittently stealing macOS CPU here...
-Studiomux? I've retired it for now since it kills Ableton Live 10.1.15 (again CPU pillage) every time I try to use the bloody thing.

  • Great to hear that Modstep and Soda will get some more love, hoping on AUv3 versions B)

  • @cblomert

Thanks for explaining the bundle problem, I have both Touchables, so that explains the high price I’m seeing.

How about a 24 hour flash sale, on top of your existing sale, for those who can’t bundle and anyone else lucky enough to see it?

  • Good to hear about the fixes, and a shame about the botched release. Still on the list, but will revisit and see how the land lies in a few months. Might be an idea to have a sale then, when things have settled down.

  • @cblomert said:

Appreciate the update (sic:). Am still looking forward to getting on the Modstep wagon one fine day...

  • @cblomert FWIW, I’ve still had zero issues using Pro.. wireless + wired.. I hope all your hard work on the recent updates will give others the same satisfaction.. it’s become an essential piece of the pie for me when using Ableton.. and thanks for keeping us informed on the other apps.. would love to see what a Modstep V.2 could add to all this iOS goodness..

  • It's great to be able to work with the Ableton synths on a large touch screen, and not a little rectangle on the desktop. That is the main reason I bought it.

  • @Crawlingwind Sounds like it's working well for you.. and yes, I imagine on a full size 12.9 iPad Pro, TouchAble Pro looks + more importantly works great.. it's fine on my 2018 Gen.6 iPad..

Slight drift off topic... but I've been using my iPad with my desktop iMac recently using IDAM and eyeing increasingly scarce iConnectaudio 4+ interfaces on ebay. This thread made me look into Studiomux as Zerodebug say they're going to be giving it some attention and I want to be able to send audio both ways.

Despite lots of alarm bells from threads here and elsewhere, I bought it and it's working really well for me. I'm sending audio to Tonestack on my iPad and back to Ableton, then back to Turnado on the iPad and then back again. Latency not a problem and it hasn't fallen over yet. I've also got Samplr going into Live and Ripplemaker receiving midi and sending audio. The only issue I've had so far is Turnado standalone not loading and the AU3 not resizing. Hopefully they'll give it some more love in the near future as this is a real breakthrough for me and quite a money saver if I don't need an iConnect interface.

I'm on OSX High Sierra, Live 9.7 with an iPad Pro 10.5 2018 (I think Studiomux is fairly choosy as to which devices it works well on, this being one of them), iOS 13.5.

Perhaps ironically, I'm using the LK app on another device to control Live, this I bought purely as a clip player for AUM, turns out it's quite good for Live... who'd have thought it?

  • Hi. I took the plunge today. Can’t connect yet. Two questions:
    1) should I be using cable from iPad to my Mac? Am hopeful for WiFi.
    2) I have Push and NI Komplete Kontrol as control surfaces. Is it going to work if Touchable is listed 3rd in the list?

    Help appreciated.

  • @kinkujin Give this a try..
    1) Have you gone through this setup for Mac?
    https://zerodebug.com/#/touchable/setup-mac

It gives you the download link for the latest server which you will need.. you’ll also need to install the scripts (easy) and then setup Ableton’s midi prefs..

Follow that setup guide meticulously.. triple check the midi section in Ableton.. make sure it’s exactly the same.. Try WiFi first.. if that’s giving you issues, then try wired..

    2) I don’t recall if there’s a limit for control surfaces in Ableton BUT it should work.. I’ve got at least 4 listed when I go into that section.. I’m usually only using 2 at a time.. a Novation Remote37 SL keyboard + TouchAble Pro.. Would you be using them all at the same time?

Yeah, got the Latest scripts installed. Easy install.

Do you have your Touchable Control surface listed 1st or doesn’t that matter?

I wouldn’t be using them all at the same time but also wouldn’t wish to be fiddling with Live Preferences constantly.

Thanks for the help so far!

  • edited July 2020

    @kinkujin You’re welcome..
I think the order depends on when you added your controllers.. for me TouchAble is last on the list because it’s the last controller I added to Ableton.. I‘m sure it doesn’t matter but I’ll look into it on my next session..
Once you’ve added a controller, Ableton remembers it and how you had it setup.. you shouldn’t have to tweak that again unless something changes.. even if the controller isn’t hooked up, it still shows up in that list..

hope that helps + I hope your up + running soon..

EDIT: Up to six supported control surfaces can be used simultaneously in Live.

You can’t use Touchable and Push at the same time, so make sure Push is turned off if It’s connected by usb or it’ll default to that.

    Good info, thanks.

  • Update - unplugged Push. Launched Live and tried loading a U-He plugin. Crashed immediately. At this time the Touchable app was running on Mac toolbar. Also Touchable was listed in Live ‘Preferences’ as a control surface.

Once I closed the app from the toolbar, I was able to launch plugins within Live again.

My experience is poor. May be seeking a refund.

Hey this is my mistake so I need to correct this, it is working fine for me with my Push, I tested ages ago and thought this was the case...but tested today and working great together. Hope you get it sorted.

I'm sorry to hear that !
If you feel like getting a refund, please go for it asap, as i think they are time-limited on some platforms.
You can always decide to buy the app again.

For future users: which U-He plugin were you loading? Which App crashed?
    This was with 1.563 right?

Is there any way you could send us the Ableton Crash-Logs to investigate?

    Thank you,
    Chris

We'll work on delivering the promises that you saw before!

Stealing OSX Cpu: you mean it takes 100% and locks up?

Studiomux has not been updated for a few years - so it is not tested with any of the lastest versions of OSX or Live..
    It will be soon!

Hi Chris - I decided not to seek a refund. I’m going to wait it out in faith that you guys will get it sorted.

I was attempting to load u-He Repro-5 plugin. No crash log as I immediately shut down the proceedings to attempt to get my system back. Thanks.

    Hi @cblomert,

I'd be happy to beta test the new version for you...I've already broken the current version every which way possible.

If you search this forum (and the zerodebug forum) you'll see I've got many strong opinions on SMUX but I also have very high hopes for it once your team turn their attention to it.

Regarding the CPU issue, it is server related. I've made posts about it before on the ZD forum, IIRC.
