GarageBand is a great way to use both together. Sample into segments from fx on your track And do your edits and then share it to pulse while in GarageBand.
Song mode Pulse's way of working with more than one bar. It's easy to arrange patterns together and loop them there.
Thanks @wim
I use the song mode, thought there was another option
Thank you so much for setting that up @aleyas ! Works perfectly, well it crashed 2 tracks of drambo at the beginning but didn’t have any trouble with it after that.
This is a test run, now I can get a little bit more surgical with it.
Great patch!
Nice! Glad it's (mostly) working for you! @iOSTRAKON
Actually, I was playing with it the other day too, and also got several Drambo crashes - very odd. I've noticed some projects in particular are prone to it.. must be something in the module configuration.
Anyhoo, I also added retrigger modules to each track, to dial in some more controlled chaos.
Another cool trick is to add a modulator like S&H lfo, CV step sequencer, or p-locking a knob to control sEGments parameters like sample pitch, or to toggle reverse on/off. Just need a CC generator after the modulator of your choice. I'll whip up another project and post a new dropbox link.
Brutal track btw!!
Thanks for the feedback
Yeah not sure about the crash at all. Looking forward to your edits to the patch. It was exactly what I needed to sequence segments. Next session with it will be more detailed and most likely more distorted
Oh one more thing @iOSTRAKON In that track I noticed you had several instances of Drambo loaded up. Didn't see the meter blinking so I presume they were on sequencing duties only?
Little housekeeping tip that's helped me manage big projects in AUM is to load up all sequencers onto the same track. You can actually put a few more instances into the fx slots and still sequence independently from them because Drambo is a Music Effect AUv3. Works on AUM midi channel too. Should save several channel's worth of space!
Perfect, will definitely use that. I’ve sparingly used Drambo (as you can tell) so any pointers are appreciated!
Just bought this app and have a few comments / questions, not sure if this app is for me - so i might be requesting a refund..
Early days I guess, but it would be good to know if these things are in the works..
That's weird. I get scrolling when i resize it. Which in turn makes it impossible to move markers.
Haven't read all about the resizing issues in here, so I might be missing something?

Pads no. Parameters like slice length, level, plan, pitch, etc for each pad, yes. FX no.
No. If you have EG Pulse, you can export there, then change the order.
You can adjust start and length per slice. There's no mute, but there's per slice volume. I suppose you could use zero volume for mute.
+1 for midi learn.
Assigning Akai MPK Mini pads to sEGment slices is a headache (you need to open a pc and MPK mini Editor software, set notes, programs etc)
Also assigning other sEGment functions to a midi controller will be kind handy for live performances.
If you're using it as an AUv3 inside AUM or another host, you can midi-learn controls through the host's AU parameter control. This applies to most parameters, but not to the FX or the pads mapping.
I was just trying to do this with my Korg Nanokey Controller and realized there was no midi learn for the pads. I guess I just assumed it was there. One of the first lines in the App Store description is “ You can play the slices with an external midi controller”
@ElliottGarage please consider midi learn. Really want to play the pads on my controller but such a hassle to configure the pads, without midi learn. Otherwise one of my favorite apps of 2020.
+1!
Midi learn for the pads would be great.
In the meantime, mfxConvert is a handy tool for this kind of thing, and this is a thing you're going to run into with many apps. It's basically midi learn for anything. You put it in the middle of the midi flow between the source and the app, enable learn, then play a pad. Then you set the note that you need it to output. Play another pad, set the next output, repeat. Save the preset. Save presets for all the different mappings you need for apps, and you can be up and running in no time.
It can convert cc's into notes, notes into cc's, program change, etc. For $3 it's a must-have IMO.
Yes, and I can confirm it works quite well in this use case. But it did take an extra few minutes... and the $3 doesn't matter to me since I already own the Audeonic app but these things add up for folks on a budget.
I just realized a workaround. Tonality the great and versatile AUv3 Chord Pad app. Has midi learn, and you can create custom chord or note pads. So you could create single note pads that correspond to sEGments, so Create single note pads C4, C#4, D4, and so on up to 16 semitones, one for each pad then midi learn the pads, then you’re good to go without configuration on a PC or whatever. A little extra work, but should work for playing sEGments pads, with midi controller pads. I might give it a go today.
yep, and they add routing and setup complexity. But its always good to list the options that people have.
Yup I just did it and it works good.
Yup yup
For sure.
@Geir ooopss...I forgot to uncomment one row of code...fix in next update!
About pads MIDI mapping, you can choose the start note from the app settings. And once you set your controller the map is saved so it's a procedure you need to do just one time, even if it takes few minutes once you set it you've done
😂 Being a coder I can relate. I was starting to wonder if it was only me since nobody else commented it.
Thanks! For a fantastic plugin too.
I wish it was that easy...but Akai made it quite complex for some reason.
You need to manually assign each note for those 16 pads (no typing allowed...only scrolling a drop down menu for all notes!) and via pc/Mac only.
Also you need to burn 1 out of 4 program changes of MPK Mini’s RAM.
Very 90’s stuff inside:
sEGments - Key & BPM settings improvements...Now you can also manually input BPM & Key. Coming in the next update!
@ElliottGarage great news , many thanks
Dham.... 👌❤️
Yes... this is one of my favorite apps of the year so far and it’s only getting better. Thanks @ElliottGarage
