This needs a dedicated single tap button.

    @sinosoidal

It sort of has: tap ANYwhere in between the two dragging handles you use to slide it up (so basically the whole horizontal bat is this desired button ;))

Thanks! That helps a little but still its not ideal. You have to tap the top of the UI to hide it and then bottom of the UI show it.
A navigational feature this important really needs a button on a fixed position in the UI.
Especially will all that space left on the left side bar.

Maybe this function could be added to the bottom horizontal row of buttons, visible/accessible only when the 'shift arrow' button is held. (Like how the undo button changes into a redo button, one of the other buttons could change into a maximise/minimise toggle button, to perform the same action as tapping in the middle of the drag bar)

  • Thats shift arrow is a great example of how not to design a UI. Its a recipe for RSI. Try to use it with one hand. And there is loads of space for all those buttons. You use a shift button in combination with your opposite hand on a keyboard. There is a reason for that.

Holding any button down or in combination with another button to get something done is always bad idea on a touch interface. You should be able to single tap with one hand

Functions that are pressed many times by an average user should be single tap and always on the same place in the UI in my opinion.

    +1 ... I have to admit .,,

I am loving LK in general - but this „Shift Arrow“ feels a bit weird/complicated ,,, each time I use it

  • can LK/UBRIDGE send midi from ipad to windows 10 via the LK virtual midi port?

i can get the LK app to send midi successfully using the in app midi keyboard, but midi sent to the LK virtual midi port via AUM simply vanishes.

You can double tap the shift key to hold it. Double tap it again to release it. That will free your both hands!

THAT'S GREAT but we need an extensive video pointing out all those tricks.

On an iPad screen perhaps, however LK's UI also needs to be able to scale down to comfortably fit phone devices too. I admit that any touch interaction that involves a modifier key/button is far from ideal; I was just looking out for the mobile users of LK out there! :)

Thats 4 taps to get basic stuff done🤪

  • I’m late to this , so Lk can replace Atom’s job? Even better? What is the added value?

Yes. In some ways. Clip launching.

Thanks Wim! I’ll give it a spin!

  • I have waited so long for this kind of app. Thanks. I would like to see pre click counter and also more advanced chord settings. Or maybe it is somewhere and I can't find it :)

  • Hopefully they will add CC recording and playback. Then it will be fully useful.
    Still miss MODSTEP in 2020

  • Damnit. I only bought it for CC recording / playback. Should have read the thread properly first.

  • Well, Zenbeats offers all of this...

What happened to Modstep? Still works here...

Just crashes, even with just midi. Hopefully there will be an update some day. But i doubt it.

Well. Roland refuses to let me install it since India isn't a "supported region". So I'm forced to use other apps.

Played with Modstep in apeMatrix last night for about 45mins. 3 tracks + 3 scenes. One synth hosted in modstep and 2 others hosted in apeMatrix.

No issues at all. Works great 👍

  • Latest beta is more stable, still crash a little bit but that’s a lot better. Works well with AUM and ApeMatrix on 7 Plus. But it seems I can’t use it properly with Audiobus, I wasn’t able to do the necessary multitrack midi channel filtering. Anybody had good results with AB, any workaround?

  • With Audiobus you need to use something like mfxStrip to do the midi filtering. I haven't tried LK in Audiobus, but that's the drill for other multi-channel output apps.

Ok that works perfectly thanks <3

LK is very interesting with ApeMatrix and Audiobus on a big iPhone.

  • On the midi page, LK is in the input slot and for each output channel you need to add a channel filter plugin. The add that same instance (and not a new one) to the input of the instrument. I used StreamByter and my ChannelFilter script with GUI.

    • The left SB instance in the output slot of the first track is the same instance as the one in the input slot in the middle track - it filters LKs midi stream to only output channel 1 messages.
    • The right SB instance in the output slot of the first track is the same instance as the one in the input slot of the right track. This SB filters out channel 2 messages from the LK multi-midi stream.

With mfxStrip you need to apply a trick to get it to show up in the output slot.
    1. Add mfxStrip to the midi fx slot, having done this its also available in the output slot :)
    2. Add two mfxStrips to the output slot
    3. Add the correct instance s(not a new one) to the input slots of each of the instruments tracks
    4. Remove the mfxStrip from the midifx slot

And thats the reason why it says instance-B and instance-C in the following picture:

@Michael I still don‘t understand, why mfxStrip or Mozaic only show up in the midi output slots ‚audiounit list‘ after adding them to the midi fx slot of that track. After having ‚add‘ it to the output list, it is listed there (in all output slots of all tracks) until a new session is loaded or the current session is cleared.

This behavior is 100% reproducible on IOS 13.6 (and i remember doing so even on IOS 12.x) Maybe i’ve found a minor AudioBus bug (and work-around :) ) ?

An alternative way of setup is to add the same LK instance into the input slots of the instruments and adding the filter into the midi fx slot:

Both variants use a single LK and two filter instances, they only differ in the routing and visually.

I usually prefer the first variant because it allows to add one of my multi-channel midi scripts to the midi fx slot of midi generating track (in this case from LK) to be applied to all channels before the channel filtering happens.

  • I've always used mfxStrip in the filter position in AB3. It works better with how my brain is wired. ;)

  • @_ki thanks for all the explanation and screenshots. I’ve used the second approach, see my post just above yours. I hadn’t even thought about your first method, great one!!
