Indeed. It would be awesome if this had customizable MIDI as well as tight coupling with the LaunchPad series.
Still can't find a way to record notes into the sequencer using the built in Chorder.
I've selected Chorder as midi in turned M on and also tried the tape symbol which I believe is overdub on and off. Made sure record is on in the lower menu bar. Still can't record notes in. Not very intuitive to say the least which is a shame as I like all the functionality shame things are hidden so deep.
Works fine for me with this setup:
That's the set up I tried maybe it's a ipad OS issue. I'm on 13.4
I'm on 13.5.1
I don't have Chorder, but I wasn't able to record any midi from anything until the channel was "armed" to record. That red circle second from bottom on the channel strip, in @white's screengrab? Make sure it's a red circle and not a black square.
You need to set the track to record (circle button) and the transport bar record button must be enabled too
Done all that's been suggested still not recording.
how did you make the clips bigger?
Change « matrix cells size » in settings:
ahhh haha wow i must have looked right past that 🤣 thank ya
Same here, not recording anything when I use the pads. Don’t seem to be able to route anything from AUM either, for example, Riffer - not picking up any external MIDI.
Desperate for a walkthrough tutorial here just to rule out user error, but everything is set up as in the above examples.
I believe the key to this mistery is the overdub button. If it is enabled, it will delete the notes after you play, because you need some time to switch to the other view, which makes you believe nothing is happening.
I think we have a bug on the over dub button state sometimes it is enabled when its actually not making it tricky. Please confirm.
@MonzoPro @Jumpercollins
Here is a step by step guide of my setup of how to record from Riffer into LK:
I'm using:
LK, Riffer and KQ Dixie
LK is input to KQ Dixie
Riffer is input to LK
Generate a pattern in Riffer
In LK MATRIX press the midi button and select LK Input and LK Output on the track.
Press the 'M' button and press the black circle on the track, so it changes to a red circle.
Press the record button, so it changes to a red circle and double tap the track so it starts playing.
Open the pianoroll editor and press play in AUM and LK starts recording from Riffer.
It will be great when start/stop from AUM is implemented 😊
Thank, really helpful - I’ll give that a try. Moving house tomorrow so might not be for a few days though! Wondered about the ‘dub’ button, so will check that too.
Good luck with the move @MonzoPro hope it all goes smoothly
Thanks Joc! Last day of frantic packing, with Mrs Monzo’s back already gone, but desperately looking forward to getting into the new place!
BT are kindly taking 8 days to press the switch at the exchange to connect our phone and broadband, so I’ll have a chance to make a few tunes with this one. In between the unpacking, decorating, work, planting winter veg in the new garden, home schooling...
@white cheers for all the tips all up and running now on the recording midi front. Turns out my top bar midi channel was out by one rookie mistake!
With AUMs midi keyboard? Is this possible too? I got Riffer but not the AUM Keyboard to work 🤔
Make sure AUM's keyboard is selected as an input to LK.
Edit: It only worked when I've started recording the second time. Hmmm.
Work fine for me. Here’s my example of how to record a clip from chorder.

I notice under tempo there’s a toggle for metronome, but I can’t hear it. Anyone figured it out yet?
@sinosoidal thanks for this update. You have plugged a gaping hole in the AUM workflow.
Like a few others on the board however I am seeing the cpu on my Mini 5 take huge hits even with a couple of light synths running.
Looking forward to following the app’s progress.
Could be so useful. Am I the only one find the user experience cumbersome, unintuitive?
I wish I could use it as a live looper for midi. Needs a lot of polishing
Just takes a little to get used to. Different UI but same concept.
@zeropoint, @Tamir_Raz_Mataz, @Tones4Christ
The concept is great, no question and I think that part of the "cumbersome experience" is that there's no simple and fast switch between clip view and piano roll, both "full screen" or at least the size of the AUv3 window.
The toggle buttons for MIDI port I/O selection, record mode and the scroll bar already work quite well and better note editing is already in the making.
Like in Ableton, the concept needs some getting used to but once you're there, you'll miss the functionality everywhere else 😉
i think like @rs2000 said it takes some getting used to and its a difficult task to create this kindaapp to flow as an auv3 on an ipad, but i think they did a great job making it all fit...i like the sliding windows , makes it all fit well together without having to jump all over. i wish you could just drop down menu to select bar length but other than that i’v i’m getting things done finally!
Have you tried to SHIFT+TAP CLIP to select the clip and then TAP the bottom bar anywhere in between the left and right dragging areas, which open the composer section to fullscreen right away?
Wow that's cool, thank you!
May I suggest two little enhancements to reduce taps:
1. Tap on a clip will launch the clip (which is good of course)
2. New: Tap on a running clip will stop the clip at the next sync point
3. New: Long-Tap (Tap+hold for more than 0.4-0.5 seconds) will open the piano roll full-size.
People who don't like long taps can still use the gesture you've described but the ones who do can focus on the clips with less distractions.
There is already a stop button in each track. The button above mute button.
We will reserve the long tap to open the context menu for operations like copy/paste clips.
