  • @white, @sinosoidal Confirmed.
Another issue: Dragging a note over another note will delete the other note.

  • Anybody has been able to record quantized events? REC quantize settings does nothing here.

  • In the manual it says there is a 'selecton tool' but i spent about an hour last night trying to make this appear, without success. Anyone have any info about this? The app clearly is not very functional at the moment so I've not really been able to use it, although i have bought the Matrix (sequencer) module. I'm intending to use it (almost) exclusively to work with AUs, basically for recording clips and launching them live. Looking forward to the updates because there is the scaffolding of a great app here 🙂

I don't think the manual is up to date. If you watch this video, then around 7:20 he explains that they have rewritten the pianoroll editor to be touch only and he shows how to use it.

The manual is REALLY outdated!

I think the pianoroll editor works really well, it is very easy to use 😊

However, I found an issue when selecting multiple notes and adjusting the length.

Sometimes only the note I'm dragging is changed and sometimes all the selected notes are changed.

I would expect all the selected notes to change length.

    Example:

I select then three notes and drag the one in the middle, only the one I drag is affected.

When I drag the one at the bottom all three notes are affected.

Thanks for providing us a clear example of how to reproduce the problem. It should be fixed in 1.7.1

That's not what I mean. If I move a note to another free space, notes in between will be deleted anyway!

Ah, that explains it, then! On the plus side, at least I'm not going mad

I think the main thing for me (in LK) is the lack of labeling. There’s nothing on the buttons or different sections anywhere that tell you what does what. I’ve looked at the manual and figured a few things out and finally have midi going out and controlling synths in AUM, but for a new user looking at it for the first time, it’s not very intuitive.

We like to keep things clean. Some programs are more intuitive than others. No program is 100% intuitive, specially when it has a LOT of functions. The difference is how much time you get to learn a new tool. Intuitive programs are usually faster because.... they are intuive! :)

And speaking of “in AUM”, is it better to use this standalone, or as a midi processor in AUM?

We still have that question ourselves. We kept it as an Audio Unit Music Device because this kind of devices can also play sound and we have a metronome. But you could use it as a Midi Generator only. The only difference is that it will not play audio.

I’m confused, so say I want a small collection of 3 midi clips in a “scene” right, and I want each of these 3 clips to drive one of 3 different synths; in a typical standalone setting, you’d map out each midi clip to their respective midi channel and set each synth to receive on said channel.

But as an AUv3 loaded in AUM as a midi processor, I’m guessing AUM’s midi matrix is kind of redundant, because I wouldn’t want to load multiple instances of LK (although we can.. because it’s AUv3) because all my midi clips are contained in the first, single instance. Right? So I’m back to mapping out midi channels anyway?

Please have a look to this video. It has been shared in this thread before but it will not hurt to be shared again. In this video we show how to make music with LK using three different instruments (2 hardware, 1 software).

The video has been made while there wasn't AUv3 support yet, but the only difference in the flow are the midi in and out names. This will help you get started:

Thank you for the detailed response! I’ll keep playing with it and look forward to the updates!

Sounds like another bug. We need to investigate

  • @sinosoidal hi, any idea when an accurate manual will be released? It's really frustrating to work through outdated instructions, wastes so much time! Cheers

The problem with updated and good documentation is that it takes a LOT of time that we usually prefer to apply to development which also takes a LOT of time. We are a micro team!

We have recently updated FRMS documentation. LK is probably the next best candidate.

For now please refer to LK videos that we have been posted in this thread.

OK, though I really do think that for a complex app like this, good documentation is vital, not just vids. But I know you guys are a great hard working bunch of devs, just hope it's coming soon

I was hoping of a video from You😂😂😂 I have bought the unlocks but I can’t seem to understand the advantage over Atom or other midi seq. And I can not make it sounds in sync using as auv3😂😂😂

  • AUv3 sync is coming, the advantage over Atom is the Matrix Clip triggering, with Atom you only have one clip per instance.

  • AU sync is working well in beta. @sinosoidal It would great if clips were synced to host as well or recording incoming midi.

  • yes! it really needs to sync to host so the LK clips sync with other auv3 not sequenced by LK.
really loving this app , it has so much potential once it’s all ironed out! i’m patient 😎

Thanx. How do you lunch different clips? Manually or is better with some midi control? Sorry but I never used Ableton or something with clip triggering🥴

At the moment manually with the scenes at the right of the matrix, or individual clips. There's no midi triggering yet, hoping that'll be added one day.

  • I have very high hopes for this. These guys make some of my favorite apps.

I would love to be able to somehow take my Atom clips, which I swap in and out by hand, and either record them into LK or have them launched by the LK clips.....

He means the same note, you can’t trigger the same note a second time and still be hearing the first, like a piano. I think this is logical (that’s not to say there isn’t a related bug).

    This must be a bug.

    Example:

I select the notes in position 1.1 and want to drag them to position 1.3. While dragging the selected notes, the notes in position 1.2 are deleted. Overlapping notes shouldn't be deleted until I stop dragging and release the notes.

  • @Charlesalbert haha, no can do: without the help of a decent manual, I definitely don't have the time it takes to figure out a beast like this. Looks like it is a very useful app, but I'll be waiting for a manual before diving in, for sure, as I have zero experience of clip launchers etc

  • @White I've reported this already but thanks for providing a video 😊

    Yes the same note.

Beatmaker 3 for example still cannot handle overlapping C3. Big issue for when you want to physically play rolls etc.

Not an issue for Ableton or any iOS DAW. Should not be an issue here hopefully either! 👩‍🔧
