Following this with enthusiasm. Looking forward to release. 🤘
ATOM 2 will change the way music is made, PUNTO!
Thanks for creating it...
@blueveek I read somewhere that Atom2 can sequence sequencer which I guess could be used as a "poor man's" song mode. But is song mode in the roadmap? I really never do anything that won't end up as a song. So for me any sequencer without song mode is not very useful.
I wish you the same number of app downloads
Do your thing @blueveek
@blueveek Looking good! I think it’s safe to say we are ALL looking forward to the update. > @Lil_Stu07 said:
I’ve been thinking the same thing.
I think back to the old days when I was playing in a couple “garage bands” where our drummer had ONE drum set. And on that set, he could play a myriad of different styles. Same with the bass and guitar players. I would usually bring ONE guitar, and while we were mostly playing rock and metal (think mid 80’s) back then, we still were limited to our single instruments to play different things. Same if we were jamming with a keyboard player (which was rare in my old circle of musician friends) as he would have just the ONE or maybe two keyboard instruments with a set of sounds you could count on two hands.
Point is, we’ve been spoiled by too many choices. It’s so easy nowadays to pick up a new new synth app or drum machine app for just a few bucks and claim that you “needed it” to finally make the music you’ve been dreaming of.
I totally agree with you in that you’ve got to put a stop somewhere and focus on the tools you already have. We always hear that limitations foster creativity, and I’ve always believed that to be true.
With that said, I am very much looking forward to this Atom 2 update, (along with the Drambo update where it will support AU hosting) and that’s about it.
Of course every now and then though a new app will pop up that sounds so amazing and authentic, that you think “wow, I’ve got to have that sound” like the amazing new House Mark I Electromechanical piano from AudioKit, or the new GeoSWAM instruments... it’s really a great time to be a musician, and with all the tools and choices we have now, there’s really no excuse for lack of creativity.
That’s pretty straightforward in the current version of Atom. Unless I’m misunderstanding?
I get that completely, one of my testers (my wife!) would prefer to work and build songs this way too, with a more familiar/traditional linear workflow. So two features are on the roadmap: "Sessions" and "Tracks". Does what it says on the tin. I won't be able to squeeze them in for the 2.0 release, but definitely rest assured I completely understand their utility and importance.
@blueveek thank you for your answer. This modular approach is getting very interesting 😊.
Good fucking grief. I remember not being able to do something like that early on. I just have been working around it ever since. It’s like I just realized Oh the files are IN the computer!
May have missed this, can Atom 2 record multiple midi channels in one instance? And import and export multi-channel midi files?
Yes on both.
@blueveek I also read about launchpad hardware integration. Does this mean that you can map clips to buttons on the launchpad pads and then use AUM and Atom like the launchpad app? If so there's no need for song mode because you can lay out the song on the launchpad pads.
That's correct.
@blueveek that’s instabuy for me
If I remember correctly, you use audio clips as well. Before you get too excited, note that there are no really good options for this in a modular setup. There are ways to cobble together things that sort of work, but it's all much more convoluted and less effective than recording and arranging in a DAW.
Though you could always use this conjunction with the free launchpad app to launch your audio clips. Loading up your own samples isn’t too difficult and would be a great companion to this. You could map the launchpad controller to atom and launchpad app and just not overlap your clips. Using Audiobus would make it easy to swap in between.
✅ 👍👍 ❤️❤️❤️ 👏 🙏
Dooooooope!
Okkkk... keep them coming..
☺️
Think I am going to be using my LaunchPad and iPad together a lot more
@winconway Nice!
Win’s on video duties! Awesome 👍
I love how the YT play button covers up the to of the “h” making Quickshot look like Quicksnot in my browser.
Will this use the session mode on the launchpads?
Yes. Atom 2 already supports Session, Mixer, Note and Custom modes on launchpads. With some more features planned for future updates.
