Version 1.4 is out today, and how come the rig sales all happen when I have no money ?
Sale prices have yet to be reflected in the U.S.
Can’t understand how to unlock supercabinet within THU mobile?
The way I read their note about it is that it is there for cases where you a have preset (lets say from desktop) that uses it.
I have Supercabinet on desktop. Also I purcahesed some supercab libraries. So I hoped that there will be some options for using my libs on iOS in the same way as Rigs. But I can't see how to use it in v.1.4
I’m waiting for clarification from the devs on this. The site says super cabinet is available free for THU Full/Premium users, but they might mean desktop only. It is confusing that the super cab is there in iOS but greyed out. Perhaps you just have to buy the super cab IR libraries but load them into the regular iOS cabinet IR modules. Or perhaps there will be a path on iOS to unlock that super cab eventually. This may not be an issue, you still have to buy the super cab IRs as separate purchases anyway, so it’s a question of how we can use the on iOS, through importing desktop presets only or through loading the IRs just as we normally would on iOS…
@Kranick what do you think about the super cab IRs you’ve purchased so far? The IR market is so over saturated, do these bring anything to the table?
Sounds like a good question to ask them. They sure make it sound like you should be able to use presets that include the super cabs.
I like Supercab Libs. I'm not sure that it is better than other IRs from other developer, and if you have some your favorites you could skip supercab. My main IRs today are RedWires cabs and Supercab's libraries are not worse than these ones. The main reason I bought several Supercab libraries is for simplicity. I can find the sound which I need more faster with Supercabinet than when I iterate over a hundred IR files.
But in any case, these are very high quality IRs! And you definetly find something new within!
I heard from the devs… the reason the Supercab is locked in your case or greyed out in my components menu is because you have to simply “restore purchases” first. Then it will be available, but it is currently designed as a “read only” component. So you need to create you Supercab presets on desktop and export them into iOS, which is really easy since both desktop/iOS have the export/import options. @Kranick you were probably doing everything right just needed to restore purchases first. Let me know if that works…
The Supercab component is free if you have THU premium/full, but it doesn’t come with libraries in that case. If you purchase the Supercab individually, because maybe you don’t have premium/full, in that case it comes with 12 libraries. In any case, you purchase them on desktop and import presets to iOS, easy to do, since I assume you can use the free desktop demo for the transfer.
@Kranick question… why can’t you just load the super cab IRs into the iOS cabinets like regular wav. IRs, are the super cab libraries formatted differently?
Please tell me I’m already covered with the five Nembrini amps I have. (This is mostly a mantra I’m repeating to myself.)
You are already covered...unless there is a specific tone you feel you need...or as a hobby you like to explore different setups. There are tons pf pedals and effects in TH-U but you may already have equivalents of those.
You are… the world of THU is more about the rig profiles of actual real amp captures, like Kemper. It is about the FX and pedal collection which is stellar (the new octaver component is great), and it’s about having a guitar rig universe where you can combine it all together in the box, including IRs, like an amusement park of a live guitar rig. Nembrini is an amp, amps, and several individual components, and really great. But you have to use AUM or Daws to combine them and store those presets outside the box. I love both paths and use both options. It’s the sound quality and fidelity that matters, and both devs excel at this.
@JoyceRoadStudios thank you! The trick with restoring purchases realy helped!
As far as I know develoder has not made possibility for saving Supercab preset yet. They promised to add it to the next update, so I can import the whole preset now. But in such case there are no any advantages with Supercab because the regular THU's IR loader looks more flexible.
Bad news! The Dang/Dumble sounds great -- love the fifth capture in the rig collection.
Which collection?

Is this the best auv3 amp/effects rig you can get?
I'm looking for a new, dependable guitar and bass amp sim because I've been using tonestack for years but their auv3 model keeps crashing all the time. and I'm also burned that they didn't figure out a way to upgrade me from ts3 with the motherboard iap that I already purchased.
I wholeheartedly agree!! I got the Dang rig this morning and spent an hour on it with my strat build w/mojotone ‘58 quiet coils ( amazing stratty pickups, but they’re narrow side by side coils so basically humbuckers disguised as single coils).
The Dang rig is fucking phenomenal! Instantly I got a Bassman vibe from it, but it is so versatile, there is Tweed, jangle, and Music Man sounds in there as well. This is an amazing collection of captures, so many flavors of clean, edge of breakup, and even Klon like overdrive patches. I instantly imagined Tom Petty type songs and cowboy chords, that unmistakable arena ballad fender kerrrang. I’ve never played a Dumble and don’t claim to know that sound. This may not be everyone’s idea of a Dumble clone. But I can say for sure it’s Bassman-ish which is what influenced Dumble. What I love about this rig is the versatility of the cleans and crunches, and it actually responds to pick dynamics. With some patches a harder pick attack actually adds brightness and break, then laying off it gets warmer and cleaner. They used a lot of different baked in overdrives on some patches, and those really get a Klon like sound out of the amp. For those who want a large palette of American clean, cleanish, breakup, ballad arena rock and blues type sounds with the fenderish growl, this is it! I went through every single profile (about 70), and I dare someone else to go through them all and not be in love. I tried it with the stock IRs, as well as my Ownhammers (Vox, Zilla), sounded great both ways.
Bless you @JoyceRoadStudios! I was truly hoping you’d pick this one up and give us one of your patented luscious descriptions!
So now, where would you rank this rig in the Choptones hierarchy? Please offer two rankings — one for single-coils and another for humbucker owners, please.
Yes without question. If you’re looking for AUv3 guitar/bass rig with all the bells and whistles and full midi programming, this is it. It is not cheap however, even on a sale. You can get all the pedals/fx for under $50 (fx bundle plus distortion bundle) and purchase 3 rigs ( two guitar rigs and the bass rigs vol. 1). That’s like $80-$90. Or you can buy the thu full right now for $80 which comes with all pedals plus all the guitar/bass amp/cab Sims, and then purchase Rigs on top of that. Many people like tonestack but it’s not much cheaper than thu at the moment, and I think thu sounds better. The thu Bass amps are very good, but the bass Rigs vol. 1 sounds excellent. Just be careful, I’ve spent many hundreds of dollars on thu stuff. If you can get by with a few Nembrini amps and their excellent Blackice for bass, and patch together effects you already have, into AUM or Daw, it will be cheaper and will sound just as great. But if you’re looking for one comprehensive live/recording guitar rig universe amusement park type app with everything in the box, it’s THU.
You've found the mother ship
I think the only apps that come close to Overloud are Nembrini, but for some reason I like the playing feel of Overloud better. It truly is your best choice on iPadOS.
I’ll be the contrarian here. I far prefer the Nembrini amps. I’ve installed and tried to talk myself into it no less than five times now based on the consistent gushing about it here. I just don’t feel it.
My small stable of Nembrini amps, a few favorite cabinet IRs in Thafknar, and a few FX from various sources. Sim based tone search is done after more than 20 years of looking.
I’m totally convinced THU is great ... for others. Just not feeling it myself.
The good thing is you can dip your toes in for free with THU and decide if it’s worth looking into further. Nembrini has sales fairly frequently, but the amps most worth exploring aren’t free.
Looks like nembrini has a ton of free pedal effects and a bass amp as well as a new one on sale, I’ll probably check them both out. Anything can be better than tonestack for me at this point haha
If you're looking for a particular kind of sound, you might want start a thread for recommendations of which Nembrini amps best fit the bill. Sometimes it's not obvious which amps give the best kinds of tones (for instance you might be surprised that some of the high gain amps provide the best clean tones.)
If you are happy patching a chain of apps together in AUM/DAW, Nembrini is a great choice. For bass the Blackice and PSA1000 are fantastic, many of the free effects are great like the Fuzz and Minotaur, and the delay3000 is one of the top apps on iOS. Of course the guitar amps are stellar for the most part. However, if you’re coming from an in-the-box experience of tonestack, Overloud is more similar to it. You can midi program a pedalboard inside Overloud and have everything set up in there. It’s really apples to oranges comparing this. Once Nembrini comes out with its own native midi programmable plugin rig host, it will be easier to compare. Nembrini doesn’t even have a tuner, and their amps have no internal visual metering. It’s just not the same.
I love the playing feel of both Overloud and Nembrini to be honest, but I would still tend to agree with you. It’s just hard to fairly compare a comprehensive guitar rig app that also offers Kemper like profiles, vs single amp plugin masterpieces.
For me the big difference is this… Nembrini has a lot of analog character and great circuitry emulation in the sound and feel, but as a result the sound also has a lot of ruffage. So to me Nembrinis need lots of tweaking and taming, they can be unruly which also makes them seem more like real behaving amps….
Overloud has a more polished, “mix-ready” sound to me, while sounding just as realistic and authentic. It truly is a marvel in processing. However, when playing through studio monitors or a PA Overloud needs more tweaking to sparkle, and I tend to prefer the wilder sound of Nembrini. When playing through headphones or laying down a mix ready guitar track, I tend to prefer Overloud.
As @win says there is a justifiable reason to love both paths…
Back to THU, I’m constantly impressed by these devs and the updates and fixes. They keep improving or revamping existing components and adding new ones for free, they added an IR loader. You can now turn off auto-zoom when switching presets or amps, which I know many found annoying. The tuner has been upgraded with mute and also variable Hz settings. Update 1.4 has a cool new pitch/organizer component, which is very similar in sound to Quinta. 2 suboctaves and 2 upper octaves along with additional params. Then there’s the constant influx of Kemper like rigs of boutique or legendary amps. I’ve sent the devs bugs and suggestions for over a year, and they always either fix it or give me a scientific reason why something is the way it is. Not to mention, Overloud has a lot of other emulation software of the non-guitar variety which I hope will some day be ported over to iOS.
@ipadbeatmaking if you haven’t done so already, you may want to give this app some love on your channel. Compared to Amplitube, Bias, and Tonestack, Overloud is really a newcomer to iOS but has left those other three in the dust. They implemented AUv3 fairly quickly after porting over, and many would agree the tone and feel is in a different league. Only Nembrini is on the level…
I don’t really agree with what you say about Amplitube.
This app sounds amazing, and I think it is on par with overloud.
Their Marshall and boogie packs are truly good.
Their vox (not the Brian May one) ,sounds fantastic.
You should give Amplitube another try😉.
