    Guys please help,
What is best to get? The full version at $79
Or Amps pack & effects pack and rigs?
am I missing only metal & rock packs if i go second route?

    Thanks so much 🙏

    >

I would not do the big amp bundle. The rigs are not included in the bundles and most seem to agree that the rigs are superior sounding. I’d go with a couple of rigs and maybe the effects bundle or not depending on whether you are covered already in that regard. You can also by fx a la carte.

As a note, I own the full bundle thanks to a generous soul that gifted it to me… and I have found myself only using the rigs that I purchased and never the sims in the bundle.

  • That was pretty crankin’ @Kranick!

    Nice stuff ! 🤘

  • Thank you guys! I appreciate it! Just wondered if i was missing out on any app features that only the full bundle might offer. Appreciate all the advice!

So do the rigs come with effects also?

  • Yes. Check the rig list to see which effects are included.

  • For example:

    For example:

Arent those the stompboxes whose output is baked in as opposed to the stompbox effects whose parameters you can independently change?

  • You can change the parameters of the boxes, but I don’t believe you could add one — even to another preset within the rig. So each stomp box is exclusively baked-in to each present, I believe.

Perhaps our Overloud masters like @JoyceRoadStudios can clear this up for certain.

  • I would image if you purchased the “all stomp boxes” IAP, you could add any of them to any rig, right?

By design the baked-in pedals that are in some of the rig profiles are overdrive and distortion pedals only. You can’t adjust the baked in pedals but you can certainly adjust any profile to your liking using all the rig player knobs, so the gain knob is the most important in relation to those baked in pedals.

Yes and that’s the best part of it, combing rig profiles with th-u stompboxes and effects.

Exactly, and they’re all ODs in every case. Would be strange to bake in delays and flangers and stuff like that.

  • @Tones4Christ said:

The rigs are real amp profiles that have overdrives/distortions baked into some of the profiles. So technically the rigs don’t come with any “effects”.

The free th-u app already comes with everything, even the IR loader, so all you’re missing is IAPs. Unlike other guitar apps that lock up features and cripple your enjoyment until you buy.

So the move is to get the FX pack which comes with all of the fx (except overdrives), and maybe 2-4 rigs (especially the ones made in collab with Choptones, BHS, LRS). On top of that you can also get the All Overdrives/Distortion pack, which really is fantastic, but you don’t really need it since each profile can be gained up or already has an overdrive pedal baked in. That’s the overall path to the best th-u tone wise.

I like some of the sims as well, like the Brunetti amps, Randall amps, DVMark amps, and those are actually authorized models. Some other good ones as well. But overall the rigs sound better ab more realistic. It’s a slightly different workflow, the rigs are profiles, like a Kemper. The sims are a more traditional approach and you sculpt the amp from scratch.

There have been some nice updates recently including a free parametric eq and a Rotary speaker effect.

    Happy New Year everyone!!!

    PS my latest toy…

  • Wow i wish I’d done more research tomorrow is last day and I gotta do lots of cooking. Hopefully I’ll make a wise choice. ❤️🙏👍🏼

  • I'd add that while it is convenient to have the effects and rigs together in TH-U , I would skip the expense of the effects bundle if you already have effects you like. And there are free and ala carte pedals out there that I use more than anything in TH-U. Chow Centaur and the Nembrini Centaur clone are great. The Nembrini RATT clone.

If you already have delays and choruses and phasers you like, you may already be set.

  • I don’t get it, i just checked and the sale says it’s thru Dec 31st and it shows over already.

  • Nice pedal, @JoyceRoadStudios!

Thanks for the clarification on the overdrives, and my apologies to @espiegel123. I hadn’t realized that only the non-overdrive effects included are adjustable:

Also, thank for recommending the Mesa Mark V rig. As always, you were right! It definitely covers all the Boogie bases and even some Fenderish territory as well. Thanks to your massive rig purchases and exquisite detailed descriptions, you have saved forum members here a ton of money! With just three rigs, (including the Dang Custom and Fried Betty), Plus my Nembrini collection, I really have all the tone I’ll ever need — at least until the next sale arrives ☺️

You got three great rigs there. Have you loaded any of your OwnHammers into the dual IR loader? In some cases that sounds even better than the stock IRs in the rig. That being said I have a bunch of favorite rigs profiles and presets that I regularly use and barely tweak.

You’d think with all the stuff I write that I work for Overloud or something, but that’s not the case. I just think that compared to the other full-featured comprehensive guitar apps out there, th-u sounds the best by far. So I really believe in it, and I inundate them with bug reports and feature request constantly, and occasionally they send me a free code for something on desktop.

I actually tend to prefer guitar tones that accentuate low mids and high mids, or high lows and low highs, so my suggestions are usually based in that…

  • Guys does anyone know if the sale is still on?
I checked my email and they sent it to me Dec 30th at 7:30 am it says sale is for 48 hrs, why does it show as ending in 24 hrs?
This is really bumming me out man. Just when I finally get my Christmas card now they pull the rug; i wonder if this Apple’s fault somehow?

They’re an Italian company which sometimes means sales end on European time, but this seems like a snafu. I would just email Overloud tech support and I’m sure they’ll sort it out for you…

@JoyceRoadStudios Thanks! Sent them email. Too bad office closed but let’s see. So i tested the app today and since I’m logged in to my account got the free pack as well as some free rig and wow it does sound amazing! Do i still need to buy a pack to buy the rigs even though i already have the free rig after logging in?

Also, why is that AUM is not showing THI as AU or even IAA?

    Thanks for all the advice.

Have you rebooted? If AU's don't show up after download, reboot.

You don't need to buy a pack to buy rigs. You can just have the free download and buy whatever rigs you want.

Are you perhaps trying to put it as an input rather than an FX?

@Tones4Christ - You might want to check out some of the Nembrini apps if you missed the TH-U sale. They are also on sale until the end of the year. They're an Italian company too, so the time difference might bite there too, but maybe not.

Though I've tried, I just can't get along with TH-U and my bewilderment figuring out what the heck all the different purchases options mean. I also don't like the huge download size and for some reason the interface especially bugs me. I prefer the easier to understand Nembrini modular approach. But that 's just me.

I think the NA BG Extasy, the Cali Reverb, or the Voice DC 30 (for a more British vibe) would cover plenty of ground for live worship playing. The Cali has a built-in reverb, which is handy.

For added fun and convenience I like the Gain Stage Acoustic for quick swaps to a sort-of good enough acoustic sound. No substitute for the real thing but sure beats those nerve wracking frantic guitar swaps on stage. Man coulda saved me a lot of sweat and fear back when I was doing what you are. 😂

  • Thanks brother! 🙏😌🎸☝️
Yes got some Nembrini and was blown away by the quality!!!

Also, free stuff from THU is amazing! I dialed my tone just with that!

I think the good Lord allowed me to miss it so I could learn more and what best way to go with all you guy’s support! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  • @wim i’m still using my regular pedalboard for live worship though. Too nervous to try iPad live for guitar. For keys it’s unbeatable!

I found an amazing deal on a midi Bluetooth foot controller, thanks to my beloved wife was able to order it from eBay! Can’t wait to try this up to run my backing tracks and control with foot controller.

  • Flo’s tone demos in this thread sold me on several rigs. And the EMGs now in my partscaster. Epic thread, 42 pages!

  • What are EMGs? What is a partcaster!? And more important are they on sale?
