MIDI Guitar is now an audio unit!

You can put in the the FX slot of an audio lane in AUM. Very nice.

  • Seriously awesome

  • This is the best news ever!!! 😁 Thanks Jam Origin.. 🙏

  • Oh my...
Just tried to send a blues guitar wave solo into midi guitar with midi sent to Electric vintage...fantastic !

    Edit: double post, sorry.

This is super cool. All my presets were gone but I must say (after they scared me with buying it again (solved)) it feels even better than before. It's almost playable guitar style if you know what I mean. Incredible. This is the best day in a long time.

  • Great news

    What‘s a wave solo?

  • I haven’t yet bought any of the IAPs as was unsure how much I’d use it.
Now it is AU do I still need the MIDI output IAP to use it in AUM or Cubasis?
And is the MIDI guitar rig IAP essential in terms of the tracking?

  • Yeah, wondering that, too.

Seems like you only needed to purchase two of the three IAPs, as I recall...

If I recall correctly, the IAPs “stack”. Rig is the base level IAP that essentially takes it out of demo mode so that you can use its internal synth and amp engine without the demo limitations. MIDI Out is needed of you want to send MIDI out from the rig.

  • So the update now only has 2 IAPs: MIDI output, and plug-in & hosting. I presume both are necessary to use this inside a DAW or control AU synths?

    Correct.
    I have a $10 IAP to get plug-ins/hosting.
I have the other IAPs already.

It works as a demo until you pay. You get a nag screen telling you to upgrade after a few minutes or so.

My fault. I mean a .wav file with a guitar solo

But the AUV3 plugin (IAP) shouldn’t need the additional midi out, right?. I mean, if it’s on a track as AUV3 the midi should be “inherent”. Midi out would make sense for standalone... Would like to clarify this. I’m happy with JamSynth but AUV3 would be nice.

  • Yes this is what I’m wondering

  • You load it as an Audio AU effect.
It converts the Audio input to Midi, and plays the midi using the internal sound generator. That is what you will hear.
You try to use the Midi Out to drive another app on another track, and you get the nag screen after a minute or two until you buy the IAP.

If you only have the Midi Out IAP, you can still send converted audio to midi from the standalone app.

  • Oh wow, this is surprisingly great news!

  • This apps IAPs have always been a mess. The AU hosting was a mess that didn't work. I got a refund for it, but it shows I still have it so wonder if it will AU MIDI as an AU itself.

  • I don’t have the midi out IAP, but I am still able to load it in AUM and route the midi to a synth on another AUM channel with just the host and plug-in IAP.

  • Yeah it's "working" for me, but the latency and noise gate aren't what I remember them to be. Nor is the release time on the notes, which I usually palm mute for sharp bass stabs. I dunno if its the AU or what, but I used to actually feel like if I keep my playing sharp I could use this to record synth bass lines. As it is now, it's just sort of a novelty. I even have the buffer down all the way to 64. And where's the transpose up/down function that used to be there?

  • Bought Rig and MIDI Out way back but now need AU hosting lol.

I wouldn't bother based on the reception I'm getting now. I remember this being MUCH more responsive and nuanced.

Latency is fine here..it hasn’t changed for me. Are you noticing latency with its internal synth or controlling an external synth?

  • I recently bought a Motu M2 and and tried Midi Guitar and the latency was lower than ever.

  • That’s vey cool that you don’t need to purchase the MIDI out IAP to get MIDI out of it when it is used as an AU.

  • Anybody try to use this to send to GeoShred Swam instruments? I was able to get everything but the Swam instruments to work.

  • Yes I did but you have to use something like LK to change the channel (has to be different of 1)
