"sidechained" the whole track through this and chose the noise gate rather high and put a lot of reverb on the internal piano output, so now it adds some semi-random sprinkles on top of things, I like it )

I do this fairly frequently with my guitar to add accents that don’t overwhelm an arrangement. It’s a good tip!

    Cool, ta @zilld2017

On consultation with Jam origin, I’ve got it working - I needed to set my buffer under 1024, which is fair enough given the usage but I’m fairly sure that I used to run it higher, especially when I was trying to get multiple geoswams going in the autumn... does that work for you @espiegel123 ?

That was it. I almost never use it at anything other than 256 or 512 (because I find the latency noticeable/irritating above 256/512), but AUM has been set at 1024 lately and i forgot that I had upped the buffer size.

  • Hi Gang

Do the IAPs ever go on sale?

    Thanks.

  • Is MIDI Guitar 2 still the best guitar pitch-to-MIDI converter on iOS?

Thanks. That's promising! $30 for the 2 IAPs. Do they ever go on sale?

Thanks. Do you think a semi-hollow with humbuckers will track well?

It has more to do with your playing and the setup than the guitar in my experience. You can try it out for free.

Thanks. I currently am 'guitar-less' (long story - had to send the guitar back due to an intonantion defect) but look forward to playing synths with my guitar like I did back in the day with a Godin Jazz SA and a GI-20.

    I’ve never seen one..
It’s actually cheaper now for the whole enchilada than it used to be though..
I purchased 3 IAPs ($56 CA) to get all the functionality that you get now with 2 IAPs ($38 CA)
Still a bargain + worth every penny..

Yeah, I don't know what I paid but it pales in comparison to the hours upon hours of pure enjoyment I've gotten out of it. It's one of those apps that truly feels a bit like magic.

  • Does this app work as a midi fx on an already recorded wave file? So if I have an old guitar solo recorded, can somehow I run that wave file through Midi Guitar to control a SWAM sax?

  • edited August 2023

Edit: I misread your question. You should be able to do that. The app just works by converting audio to midi. There’s a free trial so why not give it a go?

  • Is this working reliably in logic IOS?

It can do that BUT whether the playing was clean enough to be converted well will be something you won't know till you try it. The live feedback you get when playing helps you play so that it tracks well.

An enchilada is sort of like a chimichanga but generally made with a flour tortilla rather than a corn tortilla, and unlike the chimichanga, is baked, not fried.

It’s an expression that means “the entire thing”. I don’t know why cos enchiladas aren’t that big.

    So it’s a tortoise

    Why didn’t you say so

If you want accurate results then you really need to play to the way MIDI guitar does audio>midi. As a wildcard idea it can be useful to use pre-recorded audio and tidy up the midi a bit after.

I borrowed that description from Yonac’s original Steel Guitar IAP - The Whole Enchilada..
    Meaning everything included..

  • Who sells subdivided enchiladas?
My enchiladas usually come in pairs, so a whole enchilada is not that exciting, and is 50% of what I would expect to receive.

Thanks. I wouldn’t ever consider this a primary use case for Midi Guitar, but I could see it being useful for layering sounds to audio, without having to re-record each instance. I’ll just have to test out how accurate it is to see how realistic it is as a use case.
