@seonnthaproducer what did you start my friend!? 😆

Haha, I’m not really sure. This took a different turn than what I expected.

  • I’ve got timing issues in standalone mode -the kick is way behind the snare. Then again, this iPad is on its knees so could just be me.

  • Great news

I don’t blame them (Devs) at all for avoiding this place these days.

Forums can be really time consuming. And sometimes hostile

I know @analog_matt is here sometimes, and I see him a lot on FB and twitter. So I gotta tell ya he juggles fine all comms, it seems

  • Pretty rough sometimes...some people need to hang out with Fonzie for a while...correctamundo?

    No, it’s not just you.

  • Note that the tweet says 'timing improved' - let's wait to see if it is actually fixed or not before getting too excited.

Only old-farts hang out on forums. Social media is the thing for the rest of the population.

I’m glad you said this. Since I first became really interested in iOS Music about 5 years ago, one of the things I’ve enjoyed most about the community is just how helpful and positive everyone is. Right across the Facebook groups, Reddit, Instagram, Twitter, even YouTube there are so many upbeat people - enthused and highly motivated by IOS music making. But it’s different here. A forum is worth nothing if the people who contribute aren’t forthright and honest, but it’s possible to express yourself, be critical, negative even - without being unpleasant. Some people write as though they don’t know the developer is going to read the comment, or maybe they suspect the developer will - and offending them is the desired result. I don’t know the answer to that, but I do know that developers do read the comments and are feeling less and less inclined to come here. There’s no way that’s good for the community. Same with crucifying the beta testers for the AR-909 (I’m one of them,) they are people who contribute here too, people who give an awful lot to this community - people who spend a lot of time helping, sharing and progressing what we do. If you’ve noticed that those kinds of people are here less and less, this is why.

    Well said @Jamie_Mallender ...👍

@Jamie_Mallender I laughed when I saw your preset names.

Next preset should be called “He doesn’t like you. I don’t like you either.”

  • "You want to go home and rethink your life."

Haha! That’s a really good one. Sad old Hippie Sci-Fi Nerd here! I’ve made some more, I might use that. I’m gonna give em away as downloads at my Patreon thingy.

Superb! That ones on the list as well now thank you. Star Wars Quotes for Presets could go on forever.

  • @Jamie_Mallender on the whole developers get nothing but love here. Bram, Kai, Sonosaurus, Toneboosters, Piano Motifs dev, Yuri, Mark Spacecraft, etc. Nothing but love.

The only people I have seen taking some criticism lately has been AudioKit. (I’m excluding the Hainbach thing as it was a one person anomaly and the forum quickly righted things).

I’m not seeing the general negativity here. It’s a pretty positive forum although maybe the tone became a little negative with COVID and the US election?

  • To me it seems like often people read anger or emotion in posts that I just don't see. It feels like sometimes simple problem reports are interpreted as rants or complaints if the poster doesn't sandwich them in praise and "I'm sure it'll get sorted", etc. Even then sometimes it's taken as a pile on if others join in.

That's not to say that there aren't unnecessarily rude posts. I'm guilty as charged on that point myself. Often! But when I do, I'd like it to be on purpose, not read into my words beyond anything I ever actually said.

I can't help but think that a very large portion of the things people take as angry or rude here, if you go back and read the actual words without inserting assumed emotion, aren't so. In fact, I bet many of them are sincerely meant to be nothing but helpful.

I guess the only antidote is to assume people are going to feel defensive when mistakes are pointed out, and go overboard to modify the tone. I'll try to remember that for the next 10 minutes or so.

  • I agree @gusgranite
In general I think people need to be careful about what they say. That dig at Hainbach was not cool, not funny. I often find myself starting to write something end then deciding not to. We l need to be careful with our words. But there are other times when a spade needs to be called a spade, and being too nice might mean the message doesn't get across. Firm and blunt is sometimes right even if what is being said is negative.

But I also agree with @wim that a lot of the time when people are just being direct and not couching it jn apologetic terms, things that aren't rude get read as rude. A lot of the problem is the nature of forums. Too much info breeds haste and lack of deep engagement (for most, not all), people tend to very very quickly make decisions about the tone of a post based on their own mood and often judge the tone wrongly as a result. Perils of the informations age. There are also some who just love to be judgemental and moralistic, and as a result, actively look for and love to jump on anything that allows them to make themselves look righteous. It's complex, ha.

So... update is out. Anyone test yet? I do not see anything about sequencer timing in the patch notes. Just for the future.

  • @CapnWillie I really want to know who these developers are who got burnt now. I want to give them a big virtual hug and chat with them about their apps! Oh, I guess we can add MSXII to the list for taking some recent heat about Chompler... Can't think of any others right now, though. Hopefully the others will keep checking in as it is what makes this forum special.

  • Just bought this. When triggering the AU from an external AU midi sequencer there is already a latency without using the internal sequencer. Becomes not usable for me because of this.

  • Right channel Impulse from Drambo, Left channel Kick from AR-909

Put a delay in Drambo and you can line them up. It's amazing. This can be done on everything else too.

I'm sure this latency problem will get fixed but it's not as if there's simply no work around in the mean time.

Sure my point was I see the developer mentioned sequencer latency but no mention of general latency, dont think the problem is in the sequencer ;)

  • Wanted to support audiokit but this latency thing has put me off
Wonder why they haven’t sussed it yet, will wait patiently and not complain, think new bram app out tomorrow, so can still get a new app this week
    Keep smiling

  • A 'workaround' for a drum synthesizer?

Great marketing for an electronic drum kit:

    • Don't worry about the 30ms delay on our drums - just slap a delay on your other drums!
    • Re-learn how to play the drums with a 30ms delay!

    This is beyond comical.

    There’s the problem.
    Drambo is too quick.

  • Ehh.. Instead of another rant I’ll just get refund... :D

    Haha

  • Sadly, I have to agree there is a very significant latency still, it's just not on the click at all
