My sampling system. Just need glitch tbh. Had to see if it would work. Midi controller expected.
Probably better than feildscaper with own voice but we will duet, we will.
Thanks very much!
So, all other considerations aside, it’s not “the most powerful portable sampler”, right? I like it ok, but wish the dev would scale back on the claim. Perhaps “An Enjoyable Portable Sampling Experience For Many”.
@Montreal_Music Apple's cut was reduced down to 15% recently.
@greengrocer Check out my issue list plus the many videos. Here it is again:
BeatHawk already has a stronger sampler than Flip does, including both re-pitching and time stretching plus threshold triggered recording to avoid recording the actual screen tapping sound all the time but I doubt that it will receive a more powerful sample mapping engine as it's mainly a vehicle to sell their sound packs.
I'll trust in Oliver and Andrew though because I think that they both love to deliver a quality product that will be enhanced over time and based on user feedback.
And I think that the basic concept is too good to "throw it away" 😉
My current wish list:
This app has a very specific use IMHO: Recording and arranging samples spontaneously. I wouldn't expect it to be a full fledged composer, it's rather the first instance in a sample based production workflow and it would benefit from a number of refinements that all help creating great samples and loops to be used in your favorite DAW.
According to Oliver on Facebook, Auv3 is coming for this, still not sure if that will tempt me or not though.
Thx!
The reduced Apple cut will start early January
Oh, not backdated then? 😉
this what?
This app
he didn’t say when though.
Can you imagine how awesome that would be? Apple gonna make it rain.
Hope he gettin real paid for Flip. But, many in the cheap seats are hoping for AUv3 ED first!
AH! I thought it was "Auv3 is coming for this month" and you forgot to put the word. My bad.
Yeah or Modstep as an AUv3, I'm much more interested in those than this app tbh
If I were to answer that using technical producer language I'd have to say fuck all. But to be honest it's less than that if you take into account that the included content may not suit your taste. It certainly lacks a single sample that does anything for me including the IAPs. I would say that aspect is personally an even bigger disappointment than Chomplr. The app is really good though, minus the crashes. I rarely find an app that I can use fairly well straight away but this one seems pretty intuitive so big thumbs up for me.
Why not find out his involvement before throwing shade.
(Not to mention that coders are not the only people that get credit for an app. A> @Carnbot said:
Please not ModStep as an AUv3 -- it makes more sense as a host app -- too much functionality to fit comfortably in an AU and be expected to work well, in my opinion. I also don't want Cubasis or Auria or GarageBand or NS2 as an AU.
I'm not saying that will happen, they never said Modstep 2 would be AUv3 yet. But like Drambo there's no reason why it can't be both host and Auv3. Just create the modules which work as AU versions. It could be just the midi parts as AU, like LK.
wish list
longer patterns. 4 bars currently..i personally don’t have the skills to make anything that short, i know you can chain patterns but that doesnt work with arps and pads or really any kind of samples i’m used to working with. 32 bars please
connectivity for sampling
exporting
save when i press save not mysterious saving , right now i have to just kinda hope itll save my work.. then again recreating 4 bars isn’t that hard so its not a big loss
pad options to have 1/4,1/16,1/32 etc repeats
Flip became a lot more fun after I dumped over some old stock Korg ES-1 samples
(The samples provided with Flip do no 'speak' to me at all, maybe I'm too old or something?!).
Probably this is due to fiscal reasons. On the other hand I suspect there's also a strategic reason. For the new Apple silicon on Mac OS they want also to bring in devs that developed software outside the Appstore. In the (near) future you're probably not longer be able to download apps for Mac OS outside the appstore.
Yeah the included samples don’t matter at all, I quickly added tons of my own samples through the files app and am really diggin the speed and flow of this thing. Dig the Touchable lookin waveforms and how quickly you can see everything as you’re creating.
Andrew released a video.
This may be enough to change my mind.

FAQ here @ 12:00 in the video (won't let me embed to the location):
How do you like the reverb. I have it sounding good on one track but on the snare it sounds like it has a massive pre delay and slow attack.
Wrong! ...... man this guy drives me nuts. Have a word with yourself.
It does have Ableton Link.
And AUv3 is a top priority for the first update.. straight from the man himself in the video - so that’s good.
lol. But is he a good listener?

Because I don't have to do research to offer my opinion and say "if he didn't code this, then I'm disappointed in him". I put the "if not" qualifier in to save myself from just this sort of accusation, but I guess I underestimated the need of this board to defend app creators from criticism. If questioning his professional etiquette is "throwing shade" these days then I guess I'm guilty.
Is it me or, is Ableton Link broken.. Start/Stop will be nice too..
