It is broken - but they are on the case.
Thanks
Ableton Link is coming in the next update - this week 😀
Is this app AUv3 yet? ......or ever projected to be AUv3?
They have said that it will be AUV3. No projected timeline.
NS2 audio tracks... BM3 iPhone...
😂
Sure but... these are not Huang powered. 2 million subz!
Hopefully more banks than just 9 pads in future, more bars, sample search. Has anyone figured out the point of favorites? Shouldn’t that get a favorites folder or something.
NS2 audio tracks will be god like when that golden day arrives, I can’t even imagine how Beatmaker could fit on iPhone - the sampler page looks compressed already on my iPad mini.
Does anyone know if you can do multiple time signatures with it?
I was trying to find out in the beginning and of course I don’t believe there is a manual. I was trying to sort through YouTube videos but it was worthless and I don’t want to watch multiple hours of video. Really, being able to set the step length to any value between 1-16 or better 1-32 or more would be enough as long as it loops back to the value set and doesn’t try to add extra to force it to 4/4 like something like GrooveRider does.
You can set the loop length separately for each pad. You can’t set a global time sig.
It is extremely fast to get something good going with it and the performance controls are super fun.
My favourite app at the moment other than Drambo. But I am piping it straight into Ableton through some nice outboard YMMV.
Great user interface and amazing automation! I wish I could set global loop length to 2, 4 or 8 bars though. 1 bar default just slows down the flow of things. (Please let me know if there is a way to change the default loop length) I love having a nice eq on every pad. When AUv3 and multi out version comes out this would be a nice contender for a go to plug-in for beats.
It just isn't for your workflow. Doesn't make it a cynical cash grab. It addresses needs of people that are looking for something different than what you are looking for in an app.
Something doesn't have to be radically new to be worthwhile. This is aimed at making a certain workflow quick and engaging for people that want to come up with beats wherever they are with some convenient access to use of effects useful in that process.
Not everyone has that need, but if you look at people whose bread and butter is beatmaking this has some nice efficiencies built in.
Flip is almost there for me when it comes to 'flow'.
Once they fix the slight offset issue when exporting loops (which varies if the limiter is used) it'll be a pretty good tool in the box.
To speed things up even more an option 'skip' export pop-up and just save the rendered file(s) to the tape folder would speed up re-sampling another notch.
An option to 'trim' the recording before save (long-tap on waveform) would be appreciated as well.
The trim could also be very handy as the 'start & end' points are not saved as meta-data when saving the sample.
Some might love to se a 24-bit option as well but for me it's a non issue...
Koala is still my go-to for quick sampling but Flip is growing on me
You can't globally change it but a workaround would be to make a template project with all the loop lengths maximized and then whenever you want to start a new project, you can just make a copy of your template. That's what I did! just make sure to copy your main pattern onto all the other patterns so that way they're all at maximum loop length.
Ah a nice workaround for now. Thank you.
To learn something about how this app was developed, check out this episode from Haq:
At 15:50 is discussion about the origin of the idea.
By the way, Andrew Huang is also a fan of BeatHawk and has promoted it on his channel.
So your problem with this app is really Andrew Huang. If you’ve watched any of his Flip videos, it’s pretty obvious he played an active role in its development.
Not sure about the others but EG Pulse and Flip are very different when it comes to sampling. EG Pulse doesn’t have a piano roll, EQ, automation, delay, filter, reverb, bit crusher...
I don’t think you’re understanding. He’s not “attached”. He put together the team to make it. He is an active collaborator.
You really are just a grumpy lil bastard, ain’t ya?
