I was completely unable to understand thee interface. I hope someone has been able to explain it by now.
What was confusing for you? If you try it and get stuck, I might be able to help.
The main thing that took me a while to pick up on is that on drags and drops from lists of things to destinations. Also, the order you do things in makes a difference. For example, in the StudioMux iPad app, you need to set up AUM as an input before you will see StudioMux as an output destination.
I tried to install the server app (not beta version) but seems it does not run on Big Sur. Are other people using this on older OS?
Try the beta?
I feel like I will be back to you with more questions
I think what turned me off first was the unexplained icon for functions. I tried the manual for the previous version, only to realize that they’d changed the UI completely. Honestly, the last version seems easier to understand and use I don’t own it however. But the functionality is tempting, so I support the work on a new version.
There is an unsupported way to make it run on Big Sur. A search on this forum might find one of a couple of posts that link to the way one person made it work.
But, not much point in that when the public beta is there and works on everything.
@wim @espiegel123 thanks. Will try beta
The beta is running perfectly on my MBP with Big Sur
@espiegel123 Having another go with the Studiomux beta - can you explain how you got audio back to AUM please?
I can get audio from desktop to Studiomux via a Studiomux Effect, but I can't get it any further. I'm seeing the Audiobus outs, which are new for me from the previous beta I used, I can get them to show up by loading Studiomux as an input in Audiobus, but no audio seems to make it through (plus a few SMUX crashes along the way).
Are you using Audiobus in your setup or have you found a way to pipe direct to AUM? As in previous versions, I'm having no problem getting audio from AUM & Studiomux to my desktop (direct from AUM or now also via Audiobus), just the holy grail of two way audio still eluding me. This on latest TestFlight beta 5.099.
Thanks for any advice you can give on this.
Unfortunately, I won't be at a device to test precise instructions. The short version: in the StudioMux host app, add AUM as the source for one of the channel strips. Now, in AUM you should see IAA destinations available in the list of IAA/Audiobus outputs.
Ok thanks, I'll have another go - I think it might be a Mac/PC thing after reading the beta forum 'outstanding issues' - I'm on a Mac, you? I can wait for an answer if you're busy - this is a long road we travel on
EDIT: Your instructions are AUM to Studiomux, it's Studiomux to AUM I can't crack, any tips on that gratefully received.
EDIT EDIT SUCCESS: In Studiomux (Channel 2 in this case) I have the desktop FX plugin, In Studiomux I can't allocate an 'out' on the channel, but if I first set the AUM audio channel to have the IAA input 'Studiomux Out 2' then it works and the AUM icon appears on the output of the SMUX channel. Hooray.
Next step to get it all the way back to desktop again, but optimistic now as I know that pathway works. My use case is guitar/mic from desktop, sampled in Segments / Reslice etc hosted in AUM, then back to desktop. What can stop me now???
@espiegel123 I now see you'd already posted the solution in an earlier post - thank you, my brain wasn't receiving at the time
Successful 2 way audio setup screenshots with AUM in SMUX 5 beta with Ableton Lite 11 on OSX Catalina, should anyone be interested.
On the SMUX image it says 'AUM (Port 8)' at the top of channel 2, this is an artefact from a previous experiment and can be ignored (it just hasn't refreshed). Audio level shows low on the SMUX channel, but it's getting back to Ableton at the same level it left with no manual level change in AUM.
As my previous post, select an IAA SMUX input to your AUM track to 'activate' the SMUX output.
In Live I have audio routed to a send track and the Studiomux Effect plugin on that track. Then I have a Studiomux instrument plugin on a Live midi track receiving the audio back (mangled in AUM by Glitchcore in this case).
Just wanted to mention that anyone that is looking at good desktop/iOS audio/MIDI integration (two-way), you should check out the StudioMux open beta while it is still available. I think it is pretty close to release.
Thanks.. was having issues a few weeks ago.. let’s see how it has progressed..
Their Touchable Probis good to go (for me) now.. Time to buy it..
What sorts of problems? I have run into some issues but so far all pretty easily avoided.
I had an initial attempt a couple of weeks ago on my Mac (Big Sur) in Bitwig. The studiomux plugins crashed on loading everytime, so I didnt get passed first base. Anyone else using with Bitwig and BigSur?
I think I need a video tutorial for it.. I just can't seem to get it..I'm not getting any midi output to PC..
What app are you using on the PC?
Can you post pictures of the various configuration windows on Pc and iPad?
Also, make sure to report problems you have.. and if you need help, the studiomux developer answers questions on the beta forum. He helped me figure out a setup issue that was mostly my not having set the MID options correctly in Live.
Got it running... Integration with AUM is sweet... Those MidiFX are priceless... Thanks..
Edit... And Ableton link S/S. (Ableton Live ..)
Do I need a certain build of iTunes for this on pc ?
Think I installed the beta server….
The vst when I open on pc ableton look like the old graphics, does that mean I have done it wrong ? Most images I have seen seem to be on Mac, and the studiomux graphics look different
Is there anything else I need to do?
On the app it shows in top right corner that I am connected, and on the studiomux server it shows 1 usb device connected, but in ableton on the studiomux drop down there is no device to choose
Any help would be appreciated
Can you share how you did routing audio back from iOS? I could not get any audio signal from device. Win10, x64, Bitwig here.
Any answers to my questions?
Sorry.. I have not tried Audio in StudioMux Beta .. I am more using it for Midi... And, seems the 'install old iTunes' thing is no more... I installed the latest iTunes and it still works..
OK.. I guess you must install the StudioMux Plugin... Audio works great here..
I think this piggy is ready for market... Nice...
I installed the plugin here..
I see all these indications. Also I see 1 conncted to USB device. I got plugin running in Daw, picked up cahnnel, but no passing signal on Win 10, x64. May be there is a trick how to configure it?
Need more instructions on how to get it running on win 10 )
Im using latest Version: 5.100 Server, I see that you are using 5.025! Does this matter?
