The round trip works fine on an iPad 6., fwiw.
Just updated and now it crashes on launch. I opened it last night and it worked...after today’s update...☠️☠️☠️
Were you updating from the beta of the old version?
You might want to try deleting the app then doing a hard resetting and then reinstalling.
What OS and hardware?
I updated from an old version last night and it worked fine. Updated today and it started crashing. Then uninstall and did a hard reset and it still crashes on launch. I’m on a 2020 IPad Pro running 13.7
I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with my OS since it worked fine last night 🤷🏽♂️
Let Pascal know if you haven't already on the Zerodebug forum.
I tell yer, the device names on iPads have got so confused I couldn't tell you if that's from last year or seven years ago so I don't know how impressive that statement is.
An iPad six was the 2018 non-pro ipad. It was a huge leap in performance from previous non-pro iPads and has similar performance to first-gen iPad Pros.
Same. And since I have a Mac now, iDAM does the job more simply. Good to know Studiomux is there though for if I ever do want to go the other way or if I ever bust out the Windows PC again (unlikely).
Did you use the "Install Plugins" option from the Studiomux menu? Did you turn on all the options in the Live > Preferences > Plug-ins tab and rescan for plugins after doing that? I know on Live 11 it has the option for VST3 system and custom folders, and custom defaults to off. I don't recall the Live 10 options, but I think they were there too. Anyway, rescanning after installing new plugins is usually needed.
Apologies if you knew all that already.
@wim
Thanks for trying to help
Yep did install vst from the studiomux server pop up menu
Did a few times rescan of plug ins holding down Alt key, which apparently does a deep scan
But still no joy
In the App Store description
It states ‘ studiomux needs a small helper app installed on the pc ‘
Is this the ‘server’ or something else ?
And the integration guide doesn’t even work— why advertise this on the App Store if it doesn’t work
Yes, you must install and run the server on the PC that's the "helper" app. But you already have that installed.
It must work or it would never have made it out of Beta. It is probably a setup or configuration issue of some kind, but who can tell when the documentation is so terrible and embarrassingly out of date.
I dunno. Zerodebug amazes me with their simultaneous brilliance and ... not brilliance.
I would bust out the PC and try it for you, but it's Windows 7 so I doubt it would be any help.
If you haven't, post this over in the StudioMux beta discussion on the ZeroDebug web site. Maybe Pascal can shed some light.
Hey! yes, you need to download and install server from https://zerodebug.com/#/beta for your OS
@wim I posted earlier in this thread about a round trip via AUM, working well with mac (catalina) and Ableton Live. I have all my AUv3s in AUM, not in SMUX. I’ll add the link to the post...

There’s one annoyance I now have using Studiomux 5 but it has nothing to do with Studiomux. Because of Apples infinite wisdom of moving to USB C with no fallback to USB 3, as is provided by a numbr of other hardware providers; I can only get a stable setup using my pre M1 iPad Pro device solus in Studiomux 5, if I want to use multiple iOS devices it’s no go. Even using a second powered hub linked to the USB C hub doesn’t work. Thankfully latencies are so low, I can feed audio from the M1 into the audio device of the laptop/desktop hardware and set up a negative track delay to componsate but things wouldn’t be this way if Apple hadn’t made the decision they did with the M1.
With a decent powered hub you can get 4/5 independent iOS devices hooked up via Studiomux. If you own both iPad and iPhone and keep your devices when you refresh, having enough iOS devices with suitable processing power to take advange of this type of setup is relatively common. But don’t go robbing your kids of their hand-me-downs to make this possible!
Hey, yeh, thanks for that.
Thats the way I set it up, but I get garbled audio. It sounds like a sampling rate issue but I've checked and everything everywhere is at 48kHZ.
Oh well, like I said, I've no practical use for it. It was just out of curiosity. Back to iDAM for me.
Interesting. Works like a charm for me. It is useful for me to have two way communication and to be able to send multiple tracks at once from iPad to Mac.
I wonder if it is related to the Mac OS version or the hardware or corrupted install (an issue Pascal knows about but hasn't figured out)
I just tried studiomux again with logic 10.6.3 after not trying for a while, using latest server and latest version in TestFlight, but I either got no audio (but movement in the meters) or a feedback loop with pinned meters and no sound. Many logic crashes from this too. I didn’t realize it had been released, I’ll see if installing the new version in App Store fixes it.
Logic 10.6.3 on Catalina, 2018 iPad with latest iOS.
If you ever had StudioMux installed before, you should delete it from your iOS device, hard reset and then install again. A number of people have reported bizarre problems that went away when doing that. There are apparently some orphanced resources or something that adversely affect things when installing over the old version.
It might not solve your problems, but it has cleared things up for a couple of people having bad problems.
Ah, I will do that.
I can get sound in and out now, but only from a stereo channel in logic, mono channels either have no sound through studiomux or cause that feedback loop. However, from a stereo channel, I’m getting about a half second of latency, so still not useable. I tried lowering the buffer to 128 samples in studiomux and also logic’s buffer, but the latency stays the same. Not sure what’s up.
Weird. Did you delete the old version, hard reset before installing fresh?
On MacOS High Sierra with Reaper or Live 10 or 11, I've got latency of about 25 ms.
Yes, I did delete the old version and hard reset. I’m not sure what the issue is. Luckily I don’t need it to work, it will just be nice when it does, so I’ll just wait. I was on a break between mixing projects today so I decided to fool around with some odds and ends.
Air2 iOS 13 crash on launch . The previous version did work ok
Make sure to report it to the dev if you haven't.
can't find any email address and don't feel comfortable sharing crashlogs on forums . I asked via messenger on the fb page if there is email support
To be helpful, you don't necessarily need to post a crash log. Posting on their forum what you posted here, will give Pascal valuable information and he can contact you via PM if he needs your crash log.
You can also join the open beta and send information via the TestFlight app:
https://testflight.apple.com/join/qOpY3fq9
thanks @espiegel123 I'll join the forums (&maybe the beta)
Update:
I just show a newer version released ( 5.118 ) that fixed the problem
