Does anyone tried to route midi from DAW using Studiomux into iOS and get Audio back somehow?
I couldn’t install the plugins by clicking that option, due to permissions I guess. I had to manually copy plugins from the studiomux folder to my vst folder. Also, you need to install itunes. I installed it from the windows store.
I got Version 12.11.4.15 of Itunes here
Just curious, why would you need iTunes for the beta? The server beta is a direct download from their site and the iOS app installs from TestFlight.
I have a Windows desktop and studiomux couldn’t make a connection to my iPad without iTunes
@RajahP
I also installed the plug in that way shown in ya picture and then copied the files to my vst folder, but my studiomux instrument or generator graphics look like the old graphics, when I open them in ableton I am gonna install the new iTunes and try everything again
Have you got a link to the latest windows server
The website is a bit of a mess, the manual doesn’t load, everything is a bit of a state really
I know they are busy, but a single page with some instructions would go a long way
Maybe post an inquiry over on the Zerodebug forum. Pascal has been pretty good about answering questions about setup.
I seem to recall the previous studiomux needed me to install itunes in order to properly set up ‘bonjour’ https://developer.apple.com/bonjour/
Err, or something.
Did you download studiomux beta from the link posted in their forum? It seems to be down at the moment so I can’t post the link, but it’s easy to find
Isn’t iTunes required? I found a post in the forum about the need to install iTunes, that’s why Installed it and then studiomux started working properly
In the screen shots it shows the studiomux vst in green etc, is that a Mac or windows screen shot.
My vst graphics are different on my windows pc, grey and look like the old graphics
Should I being seeing the green vst ?
Thanks in advance
It green on windows too. Check the forum for the download link, once it’s back up
True! That is why I’m asking for help! I did everything by default. But no audio at the end.
Thanks @branis
I downloaded a version a few minutes ago, got latest iTunes
Installed, moved vst’s to ableton folder
Run everything as administrator
Still same results
The forum is back up. Sorry for asking again, but are you sure you downloaded the beta? Here is the direct link to the windows beta: https://zerodebug.com/server/studiomux_5.099.exe
Thanks will try in a bit

O.K so I tried this, works fine on my MBP with Ableton 11. Only problem I have with the beta is that FX will load up with very strange settings. The Fab Filter effects won't work at all, for Eventide I can just hit the "active" switch twice and then it will work, but there is no such switch for FabFilter at least that I know if. Apart from that, great plugin.
As I understood things, the necessary iTunes components are now bundled with the server software, at least that's the way of things with touchAble Pro these days.
As @espiegel123 may remember, I used to rely on Studiomux a lot in the past, but reliability issues put stop to that. I decided to test the new version today on a laptop that's clean of any previous Zerodebug installs and everything functioned as it should straight away. I've never installed iTunes on that laptop either (it's years since I've installed iTunes on any of my Windows hardware).
Not only did things work smoothly, best of all the latency is greatly improved from previous versions of Studiomux.
There's one UX aspect that I think will be confusing for many, and that's the drag/drop nature of setting up the AU/IAA's as inputs on each channel. Pascal has followed the design language of AUM so closely that I think some folk will expect the interaction model to be the same too. It certainly caught me out when I first started having a play. And to compound the confusion if you have AUM running in the background Studiomux automatically creates virtual midi channels that your DAW sees (that's what happens with Ableton anyway). Your channels in Studiomux can be empty yet midi data can still be channelled to AUM directly from Ableton. This in and of itself is cool if you wanted to channel the audio from your iOS device somewhere else (e.g. to a mixing desk); but the fact that it's happening without any direct setup in Studiomux (other than having SM and AUM open at the same time) could also lead to confusion.
One other thing I found in testing is that the virtual midi side of things can get confused in the SM server. I found it best to relaunch the server before opening Ableton for a new session.
@branis
Thanks for link
It was the one I tried earlier
Damn ableton now won’t see the studiomux plug-ins ( tried deep rescan holding Alt, but no joy )
Reinstalled rtp midi , remembered using that a long time ago
Will try again tomorrow
Thanks for your help
Tried to sync Studimux with Bitwig. Could get only start comand out from Bitwig as master, and midi notes (if you use fx
Plug-in). Tried to reinstall server, no errors but no sound.
Still I see a big potential in such integration! Looking forward for stable win10 flow for bidirectional operations
it will be new, separate app, or update?
If you haven't reported the issue on the Studiomux forum, please do! Pascal is pretty close to releasing the software -- which is working really well on the Mac/ioS side.
Yeah! I did a post in beta thread there, but still wait for answer will I be able to use Studiomux in Bitwig on Win 10 x64
Just saw that the new Studiomux version is now in the app store for iOS 14 users. It is a free upgrade. Make sure to download the new server from their site.
Good that it’s a free upgrade, only got it to work a couple of times in the past but will give it another try.
It has been reliable for me (Mac to iPad). On the Mac side, I have used it in both Reaper and Ableton Live (10 and 11).
thanks, any new tutorials? Because I see that the layout has changed a lot
I don't know of any. I wasn't familiar with the old version. The main thing to know is that you tap and drag AU's from the list of what is available to the slot where you want to add them.
