No, the next big release is currently in testing. Although it involves major internal changes (almost everything ported to JUCE) and major changes to support the "do almost everything while playing" feature, it does not involve a new look, asides from the piano roll and drum pattern editor having received a dark look.
The new look for the Mixer is somewhat finished (not part of next release!) and the plan is to update the other parts in stages.
Hello @dwrae !
Is the PDC for midi tracks implemented in the next update?
I love the current GUI. I hope the rewrite over to JUCE keeps everything great and allows you to take AEM where you want it to go, I know that was a lotta work to do all that.
Thanks. Unfortunately, it's 10+ years old and it is in need of a refresh to stay 'current'. I am going to try to keep it as an option to switch between old and new look, but that's probably going to be too difficult.
No, sorry.
will there be a DEMO version? i would like to try before buy.
No, demo versions are not allowed on iOS.
what about LITE versions?
I have no intention doing that. I have done that in the past and it didn't work out commercially. I tried it equally well with two other apps and I ended up changing it to paid.
okay, I totally understand.
RedRockSound has demos for every fx they sell, with an IAP. You will sell more, people love to try before they buy.
That's exactly what I have done for Vocal Tune Pro and Vocal Tune Studio. It sold much better after switching to a paid app.
I much prefer purchasing a full app…..cant do IAP.
ok thanks
Thanks for your hard work.
Really? I am surprised by that, I personally like to have a taste first. I have bought way more RRS fx than I would have done if I didn’t had the chance to try them to see how good they are. But whatever works best for you of course.
Great AEM app and I'm migrating from Auria and Cubasis towards this app.
Does anyone use it with a faderport? The one fader main screen is so perfect to use with a faderport and I was curious if anyone has it working. I have the faderport classic not the newer V2.
Would welcome any suggestions
@dwrae hi . Is there a setting to make the AEMS built in mixer eq’s switch between pre fader /post fader . Seems they are post fader only. Would be great to feed the eq’s into compressor fx etc (pre fader)
You can move the EQ in the FX grid (although you cannot do that if you chose not to use the FX grid and use the 3 or 4 button display).
ok
This seems like the logical route between Auria and Cubasis.
How do you like the workflow compared to Cubasis and Auria pro, because I also see this DAW as filling in all the checks for both combined? ( I noticed on the Auria forum it was you that asked them for the update I think ?) Anyway looks like one of the best DAWs from the literature on iOS so I’m curious.
This is the last DAW (and only one left) to try on iOS. (I have a problem with my account so I don’t think I could buy the “full version” after reading in some review that to unlock more than 4 tracks it’s an IAP? Is that correct?)
This may be strange from the developer to hear, but if you are going to try AEM, then I really suggest waiting until the next release is out since that fixes a lot of usability issues that mainly iOS users have with the app.
If you have installed the app in the period years ago when it was free-to-download and unlock with an IAP, then you would need to do the IAP. In all other cases, it's just the purchase of the app, no IAP needed to unlock more than 4 tracks. There was a small period recently where iOS did not send the digital purchase receipt to the app, so it went into the free-to-download mode where people were erroneously requested to do the IAP, but that got fixed weeks ago.
Thank you for the extremely prompt and thorough reply …not many’ devs are so responsive.
@dwrae Will Auv3 midi instruments multiple outputs be added to AEMS anytime soon ?
It's part of next release.
Not sure if you can see it through this:

@yellow_eyez hi, yes that was me. I really like AEM very much but purchased on Android first many years back and then later ios.
Its like a polished Auria but maybe not so deep. I have been away from ios for a while and when I came back to this forum there was much to experiment with as so many newer apps had been released. To be honest my fav is Ntrack and I like it very much but its not playing nice with my iconnect lately so am going back to Auria while waiting for the AEM update to land.
You sub to n track or you bought the last version before subs ?
I’m disappointed with Auria pro. Really thought they could keep competition with Logic with a few updates but who knows what they are planning
AEM looks like the most active dev iOS daw
No sub, pro IAP many years back for ntrack
Auria has been love hate, i was beta tester before they went all quiet, it still works though. Logic is not for me. Prefer cubase, but finding that to be a little in need of some update too.
Got ALL AEM add-ons etc and its quite special, but not perfect for me either. The native tonebooster plugins are cheaper within the app and are very capable (as im sure your aware).
Yeah AEM has the TB deal, which is very impressive when TB partners up with you.
I love Cubasis, more than any other daw, but the lack of PDC, midi learn for 3rd party , and the tempo/time sig track are keeping me from still looking elsewhere
It’s funny that on paper AEM and MultitrackStudio are the most feature packed and developed daws but they are the last people go to mention
My big question is which DAW is better between AEM and MTS. MultitrackStudio is super deep, but it’s $30 for the base app, and I can’t buy $20 IAP to unlock the full app…(weird lock on my family account); also I spent a lot on other daws so I don’t want to keep experimenting. (do you have MTS?)
The last DAW for me to check out was AEM and it sounds like the dev is going to keep actively working on it, is responsive and cool.
AEM might end up being the real competitor to Logic - I can’t wait to see this new updated version.
I hope it works out for you as well
