Thank you.. very much..
I'm running 13.7 and AUM works fine as a loopback App for me.
Here's the link to my post where I explained how I set this up:
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/892021#Comment_892021
This is a screen shot of how I set up AUM for loopback.
Just use the AUM Midi routing grid after setting up Midi outputs in Drambo..
You don't have to create a channel in AUM.
Just add a route to the Midi grid to send "AUM virtual" to "Drambo virtual".
Hope this works for you.
I've been able to output multiple Midi AU's simutainiously, and loop each back using a different Midi Ch. to its own instrument track.
This workaround lets me record AU midi output to multiple Drambo sequencer tracks in one take.
I may have been mistaken; as Carn just corrected me, pointing out that scenes can now be midi-learned — so maybe you can use an AUV3 midi plugin to sequence scene changes.
It was mentioned earlier, but I’m having the same issue someone else reported where you can’t select presets if the AU doesn’t have the preset UI baked in. Take Flynth for example. In AUM you can open the preset dialog and they are all listed. In Drambo there’s no way to select them.
So.... I have a track that is 64 beats long and it looks like the graphical modulator can only go 32 steps out. I am trying to use it to do automate a mix knob over that time.... but I cant because obviously its shorter in time. Any suggestions? Is there a way to have something come on or trigger like on the second loop of pattern?
Is there any way to make the sequencer subdivide to 16th nodes and not 8th?
The interface seems capable, but there is only an option to choose 3,4 or five, not 8 in the steps per beat.
I tried editing offsets in the steps editor, but that's way too finicky.
Much thanks, appreciate the help! Looking forward to trying this out tonight, for use with my IAA only sequencers.
Just now installed Midi Tools today, with the Midi Route module working great so far for AU Drambo sequencing.
thanks for the correction.
I’m sure there’s a way to chain multiple graphic modulators; I’m fairly inexperienced with the utility & midi modules; Took a brief trial and error stab at using gate sequencers and some of the time & clock modules to try to come up with a solution, but I really need to find a tutorial on this side of modular, to help get my head around it.
A less elegant solution might be to hook up a couple graph modulators to a mixer/switch n-1 , then you could use drambo’s sequencer to p-lock trigger to activate each one sequentially. (i.e. p-lock trigger graph mod #1 on step 1, #2 graph mod on step 33)
Has anyone (scientifically or casually) compared resource use between Drambo standalone and AUM with identical AUs loaded? I feel like Drambo does much better than AUM from observations in my one half-assed test so far. AUM has a numerical CPU meter compared to Drambo lines, so I couldn't exactly tell the difference. But, when I had two tracks loaded: one with Ruismaker Noir and four instances of FabFilter Saturn, and one with Model 15, AUM crackles whenever I address the GUI of Model 15. Couldn't get it to crackle in Drambo no matter how much I scrolled/closed/opened the window. Pro 10.5 IpadOs 13
There's a module in "Misc / Utility" called "Scale Time".
If you send the track clock to the Scale Time module first, and then connect the Graphic Modulator to the clock output of the Scale Time module. You can use the Scale Time Denominator parameter to slow the rate of transport of the Graphic Modulator.
ie. Setting the Scale Time Denominator parameter to "2", will slow the transport speed of the Graphic Modulator by 1/2.
Let me know if this doesn't work for you. I have some other ideas. But I think using the the Scale Time module is simplest.
Here’s one way. The pulse divider is hooked up to the track’s clock.
I wanted to reshape a project from a while back ... punch-in effects. But now we can use any AUV3!

@horsetrainer @Eschatone @xor
Thanks for the tips.... I think though I am trying to use Drambo in a linear fashion and its not working. The graphical sequencing starts automatically when ever the transport is engaged. The easiest solution for me is just to create another pattern that has what I want to mix in on it.
I have never had a Groovebox so this workflow is very different for me. I think I need to chill a bit and learn some more as I am getting to frustrated with it.
The resolution when editing is limited to 32 steps, but you can make those steps playback at the rate you choose.
Here is a default Graphic Modulator with 32 editable steps
By default, it lasts 1/2 bar. Change this steps setting from 8 to 16 to make it last a full bar.
By default, each of the 16 steps lasts 1/4 beat, giving you one bar total length. Change it so they last one beat each, now it gives you 4 bars total length.
Or instead, you can change the rate from 1 to 1/4 to get a 4 bar length.
There is even a third way. Change the speed from 1 to .25 to get a 4 bar length.
Keep in mind these are 3 separate ways to make the Graphic Modulator play at a chosen rate.
Don’t try to use them at the same time, because they will all take effect and create more change than expected. Start from default settings and just use one method.
@Iguai im seeming to have worse results in drambo... lots of glitching and digital blips. still working fine with a fair amount of plugs tho, just when i start to mix and master and pull out the big boys
Watch your buffer setting! (Drambo: Settings > Audio > Latency, AUM: Settings > Buffer Size)
Loading resource hungry AUv3s while using small buffers (below 512 samples in my case on an iPad 6) will break down quickly.
AUM and Drambo are very similar in this regard, I can't really say one is better than the other.
how do you route audio from one track / rack to another?
i have a sequence on track one and two...
i want to send them both to 3 where i have my effects rack to process them, can’t finger it out
@rs2000 i have! ive always got my buffers set to the highest, as i never play stuff in and generally use a ton of plugins. still notice a difference between AUM and drambo. In AUM, i can have magic death eye, a bunch of FabFilter stuff, tons of midi plugs and synths etc with little problem. Drambo starts to get finnicky with me as soon as i introduce MDE or a handful of FabFilter plugs..
FYI, the resolution in modules like Graphic Modulator, Graphic Shaper or Graphic ENV is much, much finer. You can have hundreds of points inside your shape without problems. It's only the grid that does not go above 32 and when I need to go into more detail, I'm using iOS Accessibility Zoom (double-tap with three fingers and on the second tap, move the fingers upwards) to fine-adjust and add to existing edits with grid snap = OFF.
Oh, this is helpful information, thank you.
Would you mind to list the exact plugins you find working clearly better in AUM than in Drambo?
Hi, sorry if this topic is covered elsewhere, but is there anyone who's actually using Drambo as a phrase sampler(octatrack)? I've bought t because people were saying that's it can get into the same territory, but apart form crossfader i don't find it useable at all. Flexi sampler has potential but piano keys/notes-induced way of thinking turns it into a mess. If i want to play a sliced loop i have to manually put triggers each with different note, so if i have 32 slices it becomes a long and tedious process...
There are workarounds like using cv sequencer and square lfo controlling offset and speed but that's not the same, can't control individual slices, plays only linearly(not really but it's still not intuitive at all). What i am imagining is a simple workflow of slicing the beat, then pressing one button to place all the triggers on the sequencer grid automatically. Then if u want to get rid of some slices u just mute the steps or whatever(can you even mute steps?)
Also would be cool to be able to open flexi editor, press and hold on a slice and then press the step to place the trigger directly. NO notes involved in both cases(they are there but u don't have to think about which note plays which slice).
How do you people use sliced loops if you use them at all? It looks like it's a great app for keyboard players who want some of the elektron and modular fun but i'm stuck with one-shots for now and will probably have to go for the real thing(octatrack) in the end, although i'd be totally happy with just ipad, less stuff to carry around...
There are a couple ways to connect the audio. Remember that signal flow also goes from top to bottom, so anything in track 1 can be routed anywhere in tracks 2-16.
1st method: direct routing
-Open the expanded track view (hamburger icon top right). In track 3 hit the input icon on your effects processor. It will flash orange. Now you can connect it to an output in tracks 1 or 2.
-If you want 1 and 2 to both go to the same processor in track 3, place a mixer before the effects processor.
-Connect mixer inputs to your instruments outputs in tracks 1 and 2.
Or with a mixer
2nd method: track audio routing
In MAIN, you can acess the track devices directly. Click the track device header (1, 2, 3, etc) and it will bring up a menu with audio routing settings. Default setting is:
Audio 1 to: MASTER
Audio 2 to: A
Audio 3 to: B
If you want track 1 and 2 routed to track 3, change ‘audio 1’ or ‘audio 2nd to output to ‘3’ instead.
Now in track 3 device settings, set ‘audio from’ to ‘module input’
@reasOne basically, you can turn track 3 into an effects return, and give tracks 1 and 2 send knobs. Best practice for creating send channels is to have them located on the higher track #s right before the master, so that they can receive from all preceding tracks.
Otherwise, you can just open the expanded track/rack view (hamburger icon, top right) and directly connect from a higher track input (track 3) to a lower track output (tracks 1 or 2). This is less 'invasive', and more immediate. It also means that track 3 is still sending to fx sends A and B, for more fx fun.
paging @bcrichards
He has some really cool flexi racks. he may be one to weigh in on the subject.
@rs2000 sure! no problem, ill get back to you in a bit with the details.
Having loads of fun tonight.
Thanks again to @giku_beepstreet for this magical gift he has given to all of us.

THANK YOU!!!! i was on the right track but missing steps , much much help and appreciation! ss saved for future reference as my burnt mind forgets things too often lol
Any time man! Feel free to drop me a line whenever if you got more q’s ✌🏻
@echoopera Beautiful!
Your project inspired me to try a collaboration experiment: One chooses the sounds on different tracks, the other one writes the melody sequences.
What do you think?
