Typical of IKM to forget to remove the single synth IAP listings on the App Store but then not make them available in the app you download.

Because I already had Syntronik Deluxe on the desktop I already knew what I was buying and purchased Syntronik Deluxe outright so was unaware that IKM didn’t offer the single synths even though they list them as IAP purchases on the App Store listing.

Another clear example of why I have a love/hate relationship with IKM! :)

To be fair, I’m not sure this is IKM’s fault. This seems to be a limitation of the App Store. For some apps with subscriptions, you can see different prices for the “same” IAP. For other apps that have possibly had an IAP in the past (but no longer have one), such as Procreate. I’m not suggesting IKM are good or bad, just mentioning something that I’ve noticed. :)

  • This looks like fun. Is it usable for some more creative play rather than just scratches or “effects”?

The whole shaper box bundle is very creative. The timeshaper in particular is like halftime on steroids. You have complete control over the shape and time of the modulation. The cable guys plugins are must haves imho. And very cheap.

Awesome! Then it shall be mine! Thanks so much for the feedback.

I got the Driveshaper as a freebie from Plugin Boutique a while back. I use it a lot mostly for multi band distortion to distort the upper mid frequencies of a bass track. It also does crazy rhythms with distortion gating. Definitely turned out to be very useful, I'll check this one too. I've considered upgrading to the whole bundle, I wonder if this one will make my upgrade price better... hmmmm

  • Hello folks, so I’m tempted by the IK Multimedia situation. Can I ask a couple of questions. If you buy in now, do you get your products straight away ? And if so, how do you then get the extra products once it keeps going up? Sorry if this has already been answered.

Secondly. Anyone on here have experience with sample tank 4 on M1 ? Recently upgraded to a M1 mini and I’m hoping this will work in Rosetta mode. Anyone tried ?

    Thank you.

Yep, you get them straightaway. So right now you would get ten rows, each with a button to select your product with. As more free ones are added you get more rows (in your promotions tab).

No experience with either SampleTank or M1 machines yet, I’m afraid.

My challenge now is actually finding more products I want. I made two purchases so I’ve got twenty free products to choose and I’m not really wanting any more! Weird situation to be in.

  • Nice option to have tho 😊

Thank you for the info.. it’s defo tempting at this point

By the way, there is now an 11th free download for those participating in the IK Multimedia "25th Anniversary Group Buy" promo. Getting close to having a really solid bunch of tools in the T-RackS 5 software.

  • if anyone is still on the fence with the IK group buy, unless you want it for MixBox, amplitube, or t racks, i would say skip it. Syntronik , philharmonik, and sample tank are all trash. The sounds are honestly not that great, the install process is a nightmare, and the download size is huge. Ive been producing music professionally for 15+ years, I have a large amount of experience with plugin installs, sample libraries etc, and never have encountered such a shit show.

Deleting them all and just being happy i at least got mix box and some T Racks plugs worth getting.

I completely agree, especially with regard to Syntronik and Sample Tank. Just awful. But T-RackS 5 is quite good.

I had a version of Sampletank 4 that came with a bundle, which I never installed until today. I preferred Kontakt over Sampletank 3, so stuck with that.

I did just pick up Orchestral Percussion and Cinematic Percussion, so installed ST4 (without any of the core content). It seems to be an upgrade over what I have stock in Logic and Kontakt, so I'm happy with it. Installation seemed to go without any trouble using IK Product Manager, but then I ended up trying to google why my instruments were locked. After "Restore My Gear" in Custom Shop, everything was fine, but it was a trial and error process to figure out I was one button push away from everything working just fine. I don't plan on getting anything else Sampletank related.

Saying something is all trash might be a little harsh. Are Sampletank, Syntronik, and Philharmonik worse than the stock libraries that come with all the DAWs? You shouldn't expect it to compete with Vienna, or EastWest, or NI Komplete. (By the way, EastWest is having a pretty big labor day sale right now) As a free item in a Group Buy, it might meet someone's needs (as long as they have plenty of drive space).

I would add MODO Bass, Hammond B3X, Sampletron 2 and MODO Drum to the Amplitube and T Racks stuff as worthwhile picks, so there's plenty of value for many people looking to upgrade their stock plugins.

  • Once apple is forced to allow side loads I’m looking forward to desktop style installation shenanigans, and most of all PACE! gimme gimme gimme.

I’m going to skip the Philharmonic as I’ve got other strings that cover what I need, and yes, I can understand Sampletank not being as highly regarded as Komplete ($10/$20 vs a few hundred mind…).

Otherwise, jump in people! Syntronik sounds really good to my ears. I prefer it to Arturia Lab, for example (though not as tweakable). Sampletron 2 is excellent. The Modo drum and bass plugins are up there with the best. The new Sampletank library add-ons have some great sounds. And then as above, you have MixBox, Amplitube, the T-Racks processors including IK Tapes which are killer.

I think this is the best plugin deal I’ve been lucky enough to get involved in.

It’s always subjective. Lots of demos on YouTube so you know what the sounds are like before you jump in.

  • I know everyone has been talking about IK.

I wonder if SoundToys would do a group by and if anyone here would be interested?

I don’t think that’s likely to happen any time in the near future though.

No group buys but they do go on a big sale, probably Black Friday. I think I got the whole bundle for $200. IIRC you get an even better price when you own something including one of the “little” plugins which go do go on sale for cheap probably right before the sale. So Maybe it was a $300 sale and I got everything for $200 because I owned Little Microshift etc…

They had the Effects Rack for $99 in a sale last year. That’s pretty much all of the plugins and the rack is a cool way to use them. It allows you to create feedback loops etc.

I totally forgot about that sale. Yes I agree the Effects Rack is definitely super useful.

  • Thanks @maxwellhouser and @gusgranite it feels like Black Friday was a lifetime ago but good tip about buying a cheaper small app to potentially getting a better deal. I might sign up to a few newsletters for places that I wouldn’t mind getting some plugins from. I’ve been traditionally an iOS guy but got my Mac earlier in the year and using it more and more lately.

I doubt it. SoundToys don’t discount as reguarly as the likes of Waves and Plugin Alliance, but will often do it when they introduce a new product to the suite. Having said that, I’ve seen it for around $290 for the suite in recent years (the regular list price is $499). In many instances SounToys plugins are best in class and even at the full price they offer excellent value. I can’t think of a single production I’ve done on the desktop in the last 15 years of so that hasn’t had at least one SoundToys plugin instance. And there’s no filler, I’ve made use of all 21 plugins in the suite.

What I will say is that they really look after their customers. Rarely do they upgrade the suite revision number but when they do the upgrade price is very reasonable.

  • @jonmoore thanks for this info really helps me a lot 🙌

  • In case anyone missed it for the hundredth time, Sweetwater has the Izotope bundle for $49.

Elements Suite, Trash 2, Stutter Edit 2, BreakTweaker, Exponential Audio Excalibur, Exponential Audio R2, Exponential Audio Phoenix Verb, Iris 2.

The samples included with Iris 2 and Breaktweaker (~10GB) are worth $49, imo.
Oh, and it includes the new version of Stutter Edit.

    • Intel-based Apple computers only (not yet ARM).

Sweetwater has a Labor Day sale going on.
    Elektron Model:Samples and Model:Cycles are $50 off ($249 each).
Several of the Gretsch Streamliner guitars have $50 to $100 Bonus Bucks. The G2622 for $350 or G2655 for $400 is tempting.

  • Good job I’m not the states, I’ve always wanted a gretsch and I’m already past n+1 on guitars 😁

  • Always wanted a classic semi-hollow, and still kick myself for not getting a Gibson ES-139 after they were discontinued and Guitar Center blew them out at $999. Was thinking about the Ibanez AGS, but the slimmed-down Gretsch G2655 is gorgeous, especially at $400.
