Neon nube alert..
Did something just change with the Neon’s clip launcher in the FX slot? 🤷♂️ 🤔 I swear only yesterday (or possibly the day before) I had to manually make the launch button appear.. today.. I add Neon to an FX slot and boom, the launch button is there + ready to go.. bizarre..
EDIT: It wasn’t Neon’s FX slot clip launch button.. it was the instrument launch button that I had to manually add.. as I said Nube alert.. 🤣
EDIT 2: I stand by my first observation.. something changed because I was just reading in this thread about how-to-clip-launch and you definitely had to add the launch button manually at some previous point.. 🤪
My bad, I wasn’t displaying the “launch” widget in the AUM track.
What’s sort of confusing is that the “synced launch” behavior can only be achieved from the little AUM launch widget, there’s no way to do it from the Neon app UI. Is there?. There’s no settings to make the play button wait for the beat, which is what had me confused.
Correct, the only way to quantize clip launching is with the AUM main parameter button, or sending MIDI.
Yesterday, I was very pleasantly surprised by the announcement by Paul (from 4Pockets) for the (soon!) upcoming Neon update: a "mini Borderlands" module within Neon! The Particle Engine....See below after 6.00 minutes.
Nice.. seems we (or I am) are closer to fully producing complete songs on the iPad.. Hope MidiMixer is revisited with its snapshots, morphing, etc. for AUM..
Would be so nice to hit record and create a masterpiece.. export to my favorite mixing DAW, Sonar on Desktop..
Wow - Neon was already such a useful app and this addition is going to be so cool.
The additions Paul has made over the last month really makes Neon so much more than a mere audio editor. Well worth the money.
Thank you Paul!
Very nice update !!! Great times !!!
Teah - the Particle Engine is like a cool free app within the already great Neon app.
I'd like to have a wavetable version of the particle feature in this app, that would allow copying single cycle waves or slices from different locations in audio/audio files... With a wavetable timeline view that would allow the parts to be pasted into different positions of the wavetable, with morphing/smoothing between the pasted parts.
Neon is very cool, but I think "Neon-Wave" would be cooler. IMPO
Especially if "Neon-Wave" could both play layered wavetables itself, and export them for use in Drambo, Synthmaster, or other Apps that can load user wavetables.
i don't know, if this was discussed before. but is it possible to reassing audio files in sessions when files gets moved within the media bay and the link is lost?
this was this happening a couple of times when i had to reorganize the media bay.
Sounds good to me too, I’m getting into making wavetables at the moment and the tools available are all pretty clunky…
Is there a way in Neon to tell Neon to determine its tempo from the length of the sample by telling it how many beats long the sample is? Auditor has a handy feature that lets you tell it how many beats long the selection is and then sets the tempo and timeline based on that.
Is there a way to define the recording of audio editor? Not sure if theres a setting for how it records ( wav etc ) 16 bit optional. Or if this is at export stage. Or if it records from what the origin app sends.
Wave editor should work. As to import, then export to sample crate ( icloud drive for versitilty )
and not have to record via audioshare and forget to put settings back.
Knowing what Paul has done in the past, he released ideas within apps and then goes on to develop those ideas further in a seperate app. So “Neon-Wave” may well be a future app.
That's what I was thinking. Most of the functions are already there. They just need to be adapted to function on a smaller scale of wave cycles and samples.
I make Wavetables using Vital Synth on my Mac and it's a lot of fun. It would be nice to be able to build wavetables on the iPad too.
It's insane how this app is growing up!! Thank you Paul!!!
I agree and the beautiful thing would be that it would be instantly accessible unlike wading through tons of menus just to change a few parameters.
There's a new video from Paul:
Version 1.13 is out:
Added a new Particle mode that uses granular synthesis to turn samples into drones or soundscapes.
Particle mode can be controlled via extrnal MIDI using note,s pitch bend and modulation and CC7 for volume. You can also use the orbit mode to create moving textures.
Particle mode works on a selection, so you can use in conjunction with slice mode to mark out areas of interest that can be triggered using MIDI.
Added a new Create Tail option to the Operations menu. This uses the particle engine to reconstruct tails on samples that have an abrupt end due to slicing.
Added scrubbing on the timeline (turn on in settings as defaults to off).
Added the ability to extract samples at the cursor position from the Particle Engine window.
Updated Help manual.
Fixed the importing of ZIP files from Koala issue.
Fixed an issue with Flatten Warp that resulted in distorted due to output level being too high.
Other minor bug fixes and changes.
This is an “audio editor”?? More like a Magic Music Box! 😆
How reliable is the plugin when editing audio within an AUM session?
Is editing audio in multiple plugin instances reliable?
(In my experience, the NuRack plugin hasn't been reliable, but Neon is looking more interesting).
Particle mode is amazing. Thanks for the update.
I got this today. Unfortunately I didn't find a manual online somewhere
can someone who is firm in Neon tell me, if the AU hosted inside Neon have the option to record automation and edit them (like editing a curve or so). I thought this plugin could be a really awesome resampling machine for iOS land. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
This may not answer your exact question but, the manual is located within the app under the “Menu” button (little hamburger icon in the upper left corner).
Thanks man I found it. Didn’t find it online though.
The option to load an FX and apply it inside the editor is really really cool.
Agree! Editor, slicer, looper, library, granular instrument..... Finding it so useful.
And he's going to add a "Cross Fade maker" for perfect fades in the next version. It just keeps getting better.
oooh. That'll be sooo useful.
