  • This will be an epic release.

    Oh boy…

  • Is there a way to add more than 16 tracks? I thought someone said there was a way, but I'm not seeing how.

Once you hit the 16 tracks, copy one and you can just paste it for more tracks from the main track. I just copy an empty track. You’ll only be able to access the extra tracks from the hamburger menu when you view it in rack mode though iirc but if you hit the hamburger menu again after highlighting the track you want then it’ll show it in the track view

  • I spend hours using Drambo every day, so while I’m very excited for the update I’m also kind of perversely dreading the changes to my familiar workspace :D

Can anyone say whether the new version will let you play a live set involving multiple projects? I would love to be able to play one project and, without pressing stop, lead into another project...I imagine this would be difficult when hosting AUv3s though

Got it, will try that. Thanks.

  • oh well, drambo is no longer listed in the app store for me

It will not! Loopy Pro currently offers this, though.

  • Would it be a waste of time to do a big set up based around Drambo right now? I’m wanting to make my live setup centered around Drambo with a lot of midi mapping and whatnot so will the update change that drastically to where I’d need to rethink everything all over? I’ve been holding off waiting for the update but it’s starting to get to a point where I need to get going

I would wait until the update hits in order to optimise your MIDI setup, as there are lots of revisions to the design of the UI and features. The update is very unlikely to be months away at this point, so it's safe to wait unless you absolutely 100% have to configure your live setup imminently.

Okay cool, yeah I’m sure it’s just over the horizon now for the update. I won’t be doing any live stuff until the summer anyway so I’ll just hang tight

Don't bet on one horse. Make sure to think about a backup system in the case the update won't hit before summer.

  • Does anyone know if there’s any improvements to the file system/sample management planned in the upcoming update?.
I’m relieved that more apps are evolving out of the sandbox, private system. Audiolayer, FAC Drumkit, etc can now load samples from SSD, less duplicating and importing, etc… it’d be great to see Drambo move in this direction.

  • @tahiche Drambo is already pretty good at this. You can point it at a folder anywhere on your iPad, and it will keep an “alias” to it inside Drambo’s own file browser.

I'm on the beta and can confidently say there is pretty much zero chance of it taking until summer.

Now I have to join the discussion for the “forthcoming” update. For me as an none beta tester it is really unfair, that some people (beta tester or not) announce an update for spring/summer or not until summer. I get frustrated by these rumour posts.

Additionally, the announcements from the developer “update on christmas”, “hopefully 3 or 4 weeks after Christmas” sounds promising to me.

I wait for an update since october 2021. I’m patient as hell, like other here in the forum. But these “ The update is very unlikely to be months away at this point...” posts make me cry. It’s not about the people, it’s about the lack of transparency for the status of the beta testing. Too much rumours here and no transparency. So where is the clearance?

Is it in beta testing for a forthcoming release or is it in beta testing for implementing new stuff?
Do beta testers doing tests or do they additionally discuss with the developer for more implementations (later release after summer?)
Is an release of the update next month promising?

I’m totally confused and frustrated. Am I alone? 😇

I would get going and not wait. Midi mappings should open just fine in the new version.

The reason i say this is that using Drambo now will help you identify what you’re trying to accomplish now.

Don’t build a setup for the future when you can setup now. Drambo is great as a midi sequencer and brains for any setup NOW and will be in the future.

No one knows when the update will be released except the developer of Drambo. The wait will be worth it i am sure.

Yeah that’s a good point, I do have a setup I use in AUM that I always keep/update and I need to make one in loopy too.

This does copy the folder into Drambo ecosystem. When I do this, I can see Drambo memory increasing.

Confusing, I know, but if you check your iPad storage space, that won't increase. The os simply makes a link to the file, not a copy. You can check this (I did) by noting the iPad space left, adding a 2gb folder to the iPad, note storage again, then import the folder into Drambo and check the total storage again. Same for say, Audioshare and more apps.

It doesn’t import anything—that’s the point. You can leave samples in any folder, and Drambo keeps a reference to that folder. No duplicates, no imports. Very handy.

Not sure how this works with external storage though. Why not test it and tell us what happens?

Does this apply to adding new samples to folders? I've found that when I do that, I need to reimport them into Drambo so that it sees the additions.

What about if you move the original sample file? Sounds like a lot to keep up with to me

Then it won’t be in the folder any more. If you take a sample out of a folder, it's no longer in that folder.

I’d rather it was stored in Drambo with the song in case I forget about it but I understand why people with well organised sample libraries will be all good.

This is interesting. i just tried again and you guys are right. Drambo size stays the same.
But if i delete the folder or move it from Files APP, that folder is still present in Drambo.
    iOS file management is confusing.
