Seriously? Are you informed about what has recently come out about how people in both parties were connected to the Steele dossier? Are you aware of what both Edward Snowden and Julien Assange leaked to the world? Come on, now.

Nice attempt to deflect my questions but:

    1. Playing footsies with a hack writer doesn't make someone "corrupt". Politicians and their offices leak to the media all the time to make the other side look bad.

    2. And Mr. Snowden and Mr. Assange are not congressional Republicans or Democrats.

So, again, who were these "entrenched corrupt congressional Republicans and Democrats" you mentioned and what did Trump do to expose them?

I might be wrong, but it appears you have no idea what it was that Snowden and Assange leaked. They uncovered widespread illegal spying on Americans, among other offenses. That is just a shocking admission if this is what you are saying. Feel free to correct the record.

You're not too far off, although the bit about "social norms" isn't really my concern.

How do you feel about "cancel culture" and it's impact on personal freedom?

Ah, yes. Regarding that specific example, I'm against it. More specifically, I'm against harassment, threats and violence stemming from mob actions. On the other hand, I support freedom of association.

I think more and more that so called ‘cancel culture’ is something that is being used as a talking point to rile up socially conservative people against the way that more and more people are opening their minds to kinder and more inclusive ways of looking at the world.

It’s also frequently used as the meat in the proverbial ‘dead cat’ phenomena so beloved of the current U.K. government.

Whenever something more important needs discussion, some talk of a statue or some idiot who said something offensive and might lose their job is splashed across press, social media and airwaves and the issues that actually matter are buried among yet more diverting bull…

If the term "cancel culture" is offensive, it's a mild beyond belief offense. It wasn't my choice to use that word, by the way. However, no matter how it's framed, it's mob mentality attempting to harass, threaten and "erase" another person or opinion.

  • What some people call cancel culture, others call “holding people accountable for actions and expressions worthy of condemnation in spite of the person’s renown.”

The biggest whiners about cancel culture themselves tend to be fond of erasing and condemning people of whom they don’t approve. They like playing the victim. They are also pretty effective at it.

Where's your evidence supporting these claims?

This is an example of the kind of harassment that is unacceptable: https://townhall.com/tipsheet/spencerbrown/2021/10/04/biden-says-harassment-of-manchin-sinema-part-of-the-process-n2596916

And that example involved several Leftists harassing a Democratic Senator... all the way into a bathroom.

Or maybe this example of a mob threatening people is what you were thinking about: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8664345/Aggressive-crowd-BLM-protesters-accost-white-diners-outside-DC-restaurants.html

Or perhaps this is an example of those whiny police being assaulted by heroic and triumphant members of Antifa: https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/antifa-burn-american-flags-storm-courthouse-portland

Yes for sure anti fascists are the problem /s

Btw if the “democratic*” senator actually responded to or held meeting with her constituents then they wouldn’t have to resort to extreme measures to get an answer

*debatable she caucuses with them but seems easily bought

Yes, the violent Leftist-Marxist and Communist radicals are the problem. Especially in the US in the majority Left cities and States and most especially when they go unpunished for their crimes against people and property.

And that comment about Sinema is an uninformed one. Her harassers are both in the country illegally. They can't vote in US elections, therefore they are not constituents.

    humanity is wordsick
got the menu mixed up with the meal

humanity Loves the sounds of their own squeaks and burps

    once exausted, monkey comes too

regardless of the words, it's that"money" token that moves us

    "money"

currently shedding it's skin,,, currently at it's most vunerable ...

many acknowledge the foundations of the "old" money, as criminality and machine power,,,

and yet many of the same, fail to see the criminality and machine power at the foundations of the "new" ...

in a "society" that uses money to exchange its wealth

how this money is brought into creation and initially distributed is THE question

    and, as god=wins ,,,

the "body autonomy" question is a beautiful opportunity to bring our "wings" together

I think there is a danger at analyzing the current state of American politics from normative left/right analyses. I think a case can be made that we are in a period where traditional analyses break down because symmetry has broken down.

Those that assume good faith from all parties may be walking into a trap not dissimilar from the one that Neville Chamberlin walked into.

This is the nub, when trust and respect breaks down, the whole facade teeters.

To be honest, it's not that much fun anymore. And I don't think it is helping him or us understand the world any better.

Right and Left assume a linear scale. Libertarians reside above the simple axis.

Once free of these metrics they are free to move about and defy being pigeon holed.

They often hope to see both right and left fail because that suits their world view which

Can’t agree more. They’re too lazy, lacking creativity and plain ignorant so they keep using “our”metrics which are obviously meaningless to them. Like trying to explain quantum physics through gravity.

Communists/radical Marxists in the US, destroying property and physically attacking people are a problem. And extreme Leftists in the Federal government are also a problem. The US isn’t the police force for the world. How about the EU address this if they’re concerned? Interventionism for the US has almost always resulted in very bad outcomes. Example: Twenty years stuck in Afghanistan and about as long in Iraq and hundreds of thousands of people dead.

  • Forgive me if I sense some antivaxer virtue signaling and dog whistles up in this thread. Pretty sad to see it here. i had higher expectations but oh well.

Me, I been waiting for YEARS for an excuse to wear a mask on public transport, I dont know wtf anyone would want to breath other strangers foulness for specially NOW???? And since the beginning of this pandemic I have had a normal life , albeit from behind either a half face respirator or a full, depending on the situation.

The lockdowns come because morons refused to practice respiratory hygiene. The globe could of shut this pandemic down by wearing a proper filter as we developed when advanced NBC gas masks became a requirement for all wars. If anything was a conspiracy it was the governments RIGHT AND LEFT using this to advance their agenda of Nationalist police states and few of you had any problems with it before. I am Vaccinated but I wear a OM90 Czech gas mask on public transport and in the methadone clinic but here in Sweden no one really takes a Virus serious.

If anyone has a thirst for DATA, take a Virology course. Vincent Racaniello from Columbia Uni in NYC offers a free one although you are needing some basic grasp of Biology Microbiology and Chemistry which can slow some folks down a bit. Just go slow, and take notes, lookup anything you don’t understand completely or you will fall behind quickly. ( its around 30-60 hours depending on the spring 2021 or fall 2021 live one which is almost finished now which 60+).

Virology is an amazing topic and sheds light on who and what we are in ways one might never predict. Its hard for anyone to seriously argue that a company like Pfizer gives a shit about putting a microchip in you when your dumb ass has carried one around for the past decade shoving it in your face every time you think anyone is looking at you in public.

Its even goofier to imagine a company who is already rich and getting richer off you would make any malicious damages when so much light is being held to them at this time, they would be bankrupt in hours if it ever got out.

As for coverups, all the reports of sick folks have been documented and many have been offered payments , most govs have set aside money to deal with this statistical minority .

I must’ve missed this in the thread somewhere. Not that anyone asked, but speaking for myself I got vaccinated as soon as it was available to me. I don’t think anyone should be forced to get any kind of medical treatment they don’t want. And that especially goes for kids with COVID therapies that are available. There’s no evidence kids are in high risk groups, except for any who are already in high risk groups with severe underlying health problems (heart problems, lung problems, diabetes).

Omicron has been described as akin to a mild cold. These are faster spreading variants and they are getting weaker in their effect.
