How to import the patches: The link is to a public dropbox folder, so normally you don't need an own dropbox account to download this. Try just to hit the download button and wait until you can open the "open in" option. Then it should show you Mitosynth. When you now choose Mitosynth it should import all patches into it. You can do this all from your iPad or iPhone without using i-tunes etc. In my case (slow net) it does need about 10-15 minutes for this small package (32MB) before you can use the "open in". First you must wait until it it's downloaded complete.
Thanks @Sinapsya and @Cinemient for your banks.
I used safari for both. Chose download, waited a few minutes for Cinbients bank as it was larger. There is no indicator by Safari that it is downloading, you just have to trust it. Then the pop up to open in Mitosynth appeared.
@JohnnyGoodyear It looks like others have answered, but this is in the manual under Other Settings:
"If you have a Dropbox , you can link (or unlink) Mitosynth with it. When linked, you can browse it for audio to add to your patches, and export audio (recordings, as well as from the Audio Library) and patches to it. When linking, you need to give Mitosynth permission to acecss your Dropbox — you’ll be automatically passed to the Dropbox app (if installed) or website (if not) to do this.
You can back up your library. This will create a package containing all the patches and audio you’ve added to your library, and you can either leave it on your device and retrieve it later using iTunes, or send it to Dropbox for safe-keeping.
Note: If you back up your device to iTunes or iCloud already, your patch library should already be included in that backup. Backing up the library this way is rarely necessary, but you might want to back up your library to transfer it between devices, or if you’re thinking of reinstalling Mitosynth, or wiping your device and starting fresh, or something like that.
If you receive a patch (or package of patches) from someone else, the easiest way to install it is to use “Open in…” to send it to Mitosynth, which will then install it. An alternative is to drop it onto your device via iTunes File Sharing, then import it from the Settings screen."
Most fulsome Gentlemen. Thanks so much. Looks like I'll need to get a whole trap load of lobsters.....which I will happily arrange Thanks again. JG
I had glide turned off, since glide is not the same as pitch bend. I use apps like Geo to play melodies and sliding notes is part of the expressiveness. This means I don't use knobs or mod wheels to do the pitch bending. Using MIDI learn and playing an octave slide didn't work either. The pitch dial latched on to something, but what ever it was had no effect on the pitch bend range.
Shoot the dev...an email: [email protected]
Yep. I think I will.
I'm not interested in presets- mitosynth is easy/ quick to tweak anyway- but more samples are always welcome-
It's cool to look at this as a deep sample synth, too (easy to import sounds through Audioshare). Big request to be able to set samples through keyboard segments.
Just been running the Cinebient pack with TC Data and it sounds incredible, it great yo have all the extra Audio sets too
@Cinebient no problems ....Canis has working on 1.1 for sure so we need to weit a bit for new beta and I can load it....for now I use you samples which are cool :-)
I read somewhere that someone said Doug shouldn't do a TC-Data video because he isn't a midi expert. I want Doug to ignore that advice and do one anyway. I want to know if I should get it even though I'm not a midi expert. That only sort of has anything to do with midisynth, but it's one of the things I would use TC-Data with.
I think Doug would do a fine demo with TC-Data. I am by no means a midi expert but I would not hesitate to recommend TC-Data to any user. Wonderful use of a touch screen and that is one good reason for to have an iPad for music creation in the first place. It is quite fantastic to translate the TC-11 experience to all my favorite IOS toys;). I think it is also a perfect match for Mitosynth which is spectacular...
It's been a while since I bought a iOS synth, but I bought this one. Im impressed.... and like someone else mentioned, it does indeed remind me of NI Absynth. This synth is great for pads and evolving sounds.
And of offcourse, I can't control myself... I'll have some feature requests;
A envelope matrix like Absynth has would be awesome!
And as always I love randomizers.

I agree that I am no MIDI expert, but if TC Data only sold to MIDI experts it would sell in very small numbers indeed, especially iOS MIDI, but I will show that even basic MIDI knowledge is needed to get some outstanding stuff from this, even with the included presets, I will say that I'm not a complete Midiot though :-)
Go to it good Sir. Some of us are midiots, but willing, and I've never watched one of your videos without learning something I hadn't known/hadn't sussed etc.
I have been driving Mitosynth from Xnthesizr MIDI and Clock out! Wow! Fantastic combinations!

Yes, I was having a blast with this combo - Xynthesizer's internal sounds too. Had some trouble recording them into both Auria and Cubasis. Pops and crackles. I guess Mitosynth is pretty CPU hungry?
Thanks for the reminder about Xynth. Amazing how apps slip through the cracks, such is the profusion of choice etc. Does work well with METOO, especially loving the @Sinapsya and @Cinemient banks. Fine additions.
SuperNiCd, Pops and crackles?
Were you using IAA or AudioBus? Which iPad do you have?
I was just turning Background Audio on, in both Xynthesizer and Mitosynth, with Xynthesizer's MIDI Note and Clock out, on my iPad 3. I did not have any pops or crackles.
I will try to use it with AudioBus and Cubasis and see how well it performs on my iPad 3.
Some of the slow tempo songs in Xynthesizer with a little randomness assigned, in combination with lush pads from Mitosynth can provide hours of beautiful, relaxing music. Plus I can play lead melodies in Mitosynth while this is happening.
Maybe it's just obvious because I have a Biology degree, but it isn't pronounced like "METOO".
Name is a play on words with mitosis- so the synth is my-toe-synth.
Now that we've cleared up that important issue, please carry on with music making :-)
Thank you Synapsya and Cinemient for the lovely banks. Many excellent patches in here that I can use straight away or to learn from. Cheers!
If you set the keyboard to a particular scale, how on earth do you set the key?
Also, it would be nice to seem more scales in future versions, it's a limited selection right now.
I discovered that since the AB 2.1 update, Cubasis has a problem with AB if you have any non-IAA Apps connected. Sunrizer n particular, really messed up Cubasis. Sunrizer just released their IAA update and now Cubasis is happy with it. I did not see Xythesizer in the IAA compatible list.
Xynthesizer and Mitosynth thru AudioBus to Cubasis on my iPad 3. Recorded the two synths onto two simultaneous tracks. No pops or crackles in Cubasis with a number of patches.
Does anyone know how to adjust the global BPM on the iPhone? I see the BPM setting in performance mode on my iPad but I do not see it anywhere on the iPhone.
According to the manual:
"Some time-related dials support BPM mode. In this mode, the dial is not set by twisting it to an exact value, but by linking it to the global tempo, which is shared by all controls in the current patch. If you change the global BPM, all BPM-linked controls will adjust themselves to match.
The tempo is shown when you set the dial into BPM mode, but is also available from the Performance Panel (iPad only)."
@telecharge said:
Thanks. Yeah I saw this in the manual but thought that it only meant that the performance panel was iPad only, not the BPM mode but as far as i can tell the iPhone version does not have a BPM mode that i can find. Will try to shoot the developer a request for this for the iPhone version.

While you're at it, ask them to implement voice-per-channel (assuming they haven't) as well so that poly pitch bending will work when controlled from Geo, TJ, or some of the powerful hardware controllers like the Continuum, Eigenharp, or the upcoming LinnStrument. And they can send any questions about that to me. It's a lot easier than people think, and all synth devs should provide it at least as an option for their omni mode.
Anyone know how to set the root note of a custom scale? Looks like C is the only option available, which makes it kinda useless.
