All this talk on sampling makes me wonder if there isn't a weather proof recorder that you could just leave for a day or two, then retrieve it and pick out what might be worth keeping. Does anyone know of anything like that?

That's exactly my experience of seeing a wolf in the wild. Maybe it was the same wolf? It's funny that this gets mentioned in a thread about an app created by Canis Lupus... So it's still on topic!
This is awesome...

@ChrisG - what about the Alchemy soundbank Water, as I recall they had a lot of good water sounds from rain to dripping water and etc, especially with the 8 variations of each.
@JMSexton: Indeed... thx for the reminder. Since i have all Alchemy banks too. But be aware. You can use sounds of it in your own patches but you can't share them to the crowd for further use then. It's in breach with a Copyright when you recording parts of Alchemy presets, especially when they using samples as sound source. I wanted to do some similar things and asked CamelAudio because i was not sure if i could use simple one note recordings for creating patches within another synth. Since i know how many work is involved in creating Alchemy sample banks and presets i fully understand that of course.

With Nave I snagged samples from various sources (some of them apps). But I'd always trim the samples down to a few milliseconds, before importing into Nave, and from there try to reconstruct the sound using that tiny fraction of a sample, which Nave was very good at given that it's a wavetable synth with comprehensive controls over how the sample/wavetable plays back (scanning speed and so on). Mito is no wavetable synth, altho samples can be used as an OSC source. So the samples would need to be quite long, and I'm not sure where the legal limits go as far as sampling and nabbin sounds straight from another app, and move that sound into another synth, and release it. If there are any at all?
Edit: @cinebient Already answered the above
@ChrisG: Uups .... I much prefer additive Synthesis if i had to choose only one. It's hard to handle but the most flexible synthesis (for me). In Mitosynth it's limited (but very fast and easy)! I wish Cube would have also additive Resynthesis (i think the desktop version can do it). Damn, i love additive Synthesis
I am on vacation in key west, fl, leaving for Miami beach in a few minutes. I have my tascam im2 mic with me ( always), I will try to get some ocean samples for you. @johnnygoodyear, I will be in Maine all next week recording, in Kittery (1st town you get to in Maine). I love it up there. Using all my vacation time this month!
@mrufino1 Good luck on your travels! Always wanted to fly into Miami Beach on BOAC, just born too late...
You know of course that we Maine snobs don't think Maine really starts until you get over the Bath bridge
@mrufino1: That would be great. After a little (but heavy) thunderstorm the little forest (which has also a very very small lake (if you can call it so) nearby is closed. (Of course i ingnored it but there are broken trees everywhere etc.)
Indeed: One thing i really still miss very hard in Mitosynth (and lots of other iOS synth) is modulation of FX. They can handle it nice in real-time while i'm playing, so i hope that it can be updated some day. It's one of the magic in the dimensional sounds of Alchemy (and a few others) that you can change fast but smooth the FX. For me THIS is about 50% of the life in a complex patch. I will bother Wooji Juice a bit
And dear other developers....PLEASE let us also share patches without that stupid i-tunes way.... PLEASE!

Is it possible to do this using Lemur?
I saw a video on youtube calle intermodulation in mitosynth, i dont know about that, but maybe someone here know, my doubt is, is that bad for the ears or doesnt matter.
Thanx in advanced.
@kgmessier: Never used Lemur... but i want it to automate also with LFO's and dials in the synths itself. And not just the gain. When you put a LFO on some parameters of a reverb... sounds awesome. At the moment i use the mighty AUFX:Apps which i can easy assign to the Nave blades via MIDI learn. So i can play fast attacks and interesting live changes but it's just sucks my CPU
Sinapsya and Cinebient thanks a lot for the patches, they're great!
As promised @cinebient, water recordings. It's mid morning at miami beach and a little windy, but I did what I could. I'm sure there will be some sections that you'll make cool patches with. I don't have mito synth (thanks, now I want it!), so post some examples of what you create.

Bonus recording of the hot tub on the way back in, the people in it don't want any royalties ;-)

Let me know if the links don't work, we can find someplace to put them online.
@mrufino1: Saving it to my dropbox Thank's a lot. Greetings from Germany
....i think i will also use it for some Alchemy patches. (Still trying to learn my new MacBook which will be my new "workstation")
Thanks @mrufino1. That beach recording sounds great, lots of sections in there that are just waiting to be made into a preset inside Mito, Nave and perhaps even Alchemy. If I get anything decent sounding done I'll def post examples. Great stuff
There are some great free samples here if you have the space. http://99sounds.org/rain-and-thunder/ . All 24 bit wav's and very nicely done. This collection is 630megs.
@thinds: Thx...now you said that....damn...my 128GB IPad Air is full :O. Another reason i have to got a more expendable device.
Indeed: Mitosynth can handle up to 32 bit wav (makes no sense tough). But i think converting everything to the 16bit 44.1khz makes a lot sense bacause of the limited hardware and i don't think there is a big different while using it as sound source. I'm still impressed by this synth. Don't know any desktop synth which can using 32 sound sources for one patch and this with independently morphing and modulation of each voice. This as VST/AU....i doubt this will happen.

Cool, enjoy! @ChrisG, you're the one who made those really nice string presets for nave last year while I was on vacation, right? If so I look forward to hearing what you do with these. Both of you for that matter. I'm glad you find the recordings helpful.
If you don't have the tascam im2 mic I highly recommend it, it's down to about $15 on amazon and sounds fantastic. It will work with a lightning adapter if needed as well from what I understand, I have a 4s so still 30 pin. I've never tried it with my air because I don't have that adapter. I use twisted wave with it but it works with most apps not made by ik multimedia ( that's not a wisecrack, it's true).
Probably still pretty cheap to get in Europe as well I'd imagine.
Oh, and obviously I do have nave so I'd look forward to trying what you do with it.

The rest of the license
"You are hereby granted a licence to use the samples for both non-commercial and commercial purposes, provided that the samples are not used as part of a sample library."
Edit: Ah, I see what you mean re using them as a basis for a patch in Mito.
Cheapest im2 I've seen in the UK is £25.
Amazon has been lowering the price on those in the USA, I paid $28 last year. Well worth it, I've made some cool recordings with it that I would have missed otherwise.

When you get a moment could you elaborate? Is it just size/convenience? Sorry for my density...
Convenience for sure, I always have my iPhone with me and it essentially makes it into a tascam portable recorder that allows me to edit and upload files really easily. It's pretty crazy that I stood by the ocean, recorded those files, and uploaded them to Dropbox so people can download them, all in about 5 minutes. Anyway, it's been really useful so far for me.
28 bucks less in the kid's college fund.
Luckily they're both straight A students, so I told them if they want to sniff college that needs to continue!
@funJunkie27: "recorder you can leave out in the wild and go check it every few days" - yes, a friend of mine has one. I'll get info from him. Not very expensive either. Motion triggered if you want, SD card media, IR LED illuminators for night activity. IIRC around $50.
