So a punter goes into the Apple store ,cos they’ve heard and read about MAKING a bit of music on an new iPad ,naturally they’re talked into buying up (as they do in an Apple store),fair enough,so out they go,get home then fire-up the New IPad (air, pro) and open GarageBand,no need to go the App Store for another daw yet. Pull out the headphones or pods then search for a hole to plug in.Fuck Me there Ain’t One!, now as a layperson how would i have a fucking clue that be the case? You wouldn’t! So the solution is an iPad 9th gen , if anyone on this forum thinks you can produce (better) music on the up-market versions you’re kidding yourselves. Never read so much about Dongles et.al. and the workarounds ,why do jump though these hoops ? I’m baffled.

To be fair a USB-C to headphone adapter isn’t exactly large or expensive

So how would I keep the iPad charging then?

After the new M1 iPads have found their way into many homes, Apple will probably release an iPad Air with a standard headphones connector again to make us buy yet another iPad :D

Unfortunately that is very unlikely to happen. Which is why I'm staying on my iPad Pro 2nd gen. The fastest iPad with a headphone jack.
