AudioLayer 1.6.0

Hi all,

a new update for AudioLayer is landing this minutes:

• Sample layer settings for sustain pedal sample variations
• Sample layer settings for key switches to select different sample variations
• Attack time modulation via velocity
• Batch import to convert all SFZ / EXS instrument files contained in one folder
• Usage of external SSD drive for Instruments/Samples enabled.
• Usage of any folder for Instruments/Samples.

Have fun!

  • HUUUUGGGGGEEEE!!!!

    🤯 🥳

  • Nice, does this update also read the loop-meta data embedded in the 'smpl' chuck when importing *.wav files?
(Already got a bunch (>10k) of pre-looped *.wav files and having to manually re-loop them in AudioLayer feels a bit meh).

  • Thanks @VirSyn 🙏 😊

  • Wow ! Thanks.

  • Awesome update, thanks!

  • Oh yes, thank you @VirSyn !!!
I was waiting so much for this to drop 😊🙏
So I will be able to finalize my super new choir library, taking advantage of these new capabilities !
Let me tell you I have good expectations this will be the best sounding and expressive choir available on iOS (yes, just that haha !)
    Cheers !

Anyone else seeing this? (1.6 installed).

When in editing the instrument parameters tapping the mini-keys to change octave 'grays out the' editor and and it becomes un-responsive. Only way to get it back is to change preset or switch to efx and back, or re-select layer/zone, feels a bit odd and not how it used to be...
    (iPad Air 2, iPadOS15.4).

  • Awesome update! Will check out later today.

  • Sounds like a great update, @VirSyn. Were you able yet to fix the one-shot sample bug discussed on this thread?

Yes but this bug was already present in the previous version.

Other bug I hope has been fixed : when you record a sample, play back the recorded sample and tap “Cancel” before the playback has finished, then the app or AU instance crashes. Will check this tonight.

  • @VirSyn , if I understand correctly this statement :

    • Sample layer settings for sustain pedal sample variations

…this will allow to sample seriously instruments like piano by being able to play back string/sustain resonance. Is that right ?

  • Keyswitch and SSD support in one update, thanks @VirSyn !

Thought i had fixed this, aargh. Have to take another look...

Yes, AudioLayer reads the loop meta data in smpl chunk. This wasn't part of this update but some update before - can't remember which.

wasn't aware of this problem, will check it.

I can't seem to get the *.wav loop import to work?! :(

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/sd2vv0yzg6xg5t0/SY85_2022.zip?dl=0
...those files that have a loop (pads, bases, amps, flutes etc.) definitely a have loop set in the 'smpl' chunk but I can't get Audiolayer to see & use it.
(The files are imported with loop off, and when loop is enabled AL sets arbitrary loop points that do not reflect the loop points set in the meta-data?!).

This is the case of most *.wav files I have...

I know some apps put the 'smpl' chunk at the end of the files while others keep it at the beginning, maybe this has something to do with it?

I can always take the ESX route as Logic seems to read the loop point from my files without any problems :sunglasses:
Will I do that? Nope, will not convert 10K samples to ESX just to load them into AudioLayer, no way...

    Cheers!
    /Samuel

Thanks for sending the files. Fixed the problem here already in 1.6.1

    Awesome, that's really good news!
My 5-Stars for AL will remain solidly lit on the AppStore for each new version :sunglasses:

The speed of the drive will impact whether this works well.

  • @VirSyn thanks for the update.
however, the exs import issue still persists.
i downloaded a library from pianobook.
Audiolayer recognises the zones but fail to import samples.
    here is a demo

  • @VirSyn Will AU parameters be added? I'd love to control the filter and other aspects of AL with midi cc.

Please use the "import folder" function - then you'll be asked for the sample folder too and it will work.
There are too many ways of importing - now have to cut them :#

THIS a thousand times over! Even just to mute/unmute layers...

Drag and drop plus the option of a single import button might be the way to go.

Oh dam. I thought the two options were different. Apologies.
I can confirm this works. 😊
    Thanks for the update

  • Awesome @VirSyn really excited about the features in this update thanks! Cheers.

Yeah, thank you so much @VirSyn for this update. However, if you still have some energy left, a simple switch On/Off besides each layer would make life so much easier when building an instrument ! 😊🙏

  • Fantastic update. Is there a way to move the local sample library to external storage?

    haven't tried this but...
...should be possible with the Instrument sharing option "Create Zip for Instrument+SampleFolder '/'"
Take the generated zip file which contains all instruments and samples and unzip it to the new sample location.
If it's too big to handle you have to zip the Instrument folders one by one.
