I'm suddenly having issues with Audiolayer in Garageband on iOS 15.3.1. With just one instance playing (albeit with a bunch of other stuff) it completely kills all audio! If I stop and restart the playhead everything else plays except audiolayer, and i have to exit song and reload (just song not gb). Happens very frequently, and has never happened since the last couple of updates. I'll try reporting this bug but thought I'd share in case anyone else is getting something similar.
If you're already on iOS15.3.1 then I'd suggest updating to iOS15.4.1 and giving it another try...
You might be running out of processor memory, and jetsam is gratuously killing something to gain space. You could check for jetsam and app crash logs at the time of an incident.
Hi there, I’m getting very high dsp usage and crackles with the drumdrops libraries (lots of layers +RR), but that should not have a big impact as samples are streamed from the ipad storage ? I am on a 12.9 M1 ipad pro, using audiolayer in AUM, libraries are in internal storage. Dsp usage seem normal in stabdalone (1-2%)
Trying to update iOS to latest version now.
Edit : same after updating ios
i could reproduce this here and am working on a fix
have tried to import one of drumdrops drum kits and came across maybe the same problems as you. Selecting the main folder lead to empty import. Have to investigate this further.
This is how i got them imported with the "Batch import" function:
i selected "Stereo Out" as folder for the exs files and "Stereo Out/Samples" as samples folder and the it worked here.
Maybe your drumdrops kit has an equivalent folder structure.
I love Virsyn apps and had my eye on Audiolayer for a while so I picked it up! One thing I have to say I was surprised by was the lack of dice for patch selection. Randomization is something I have always taken for granted in Virsyn apps!

Wow thank you !!!
Not all kits have the Stereo Out folder. I'm having trouble with the Mapex Heavy Rock Kit - Single Hit Pack. I have several others working. The closest thing I've had to success is getting a heap of crash cymbals imported.
Randomization of parameters, not presets :-)
Regarding parameters, we are not with a synth here so it could appear pointless at first.
However, I admit it would be cool to be able to randomize some parameters like :
...all of this to emulate a kind of pseudo round robin and avoid repeativeness when playing the same sample
Could you make a screenshot from the folder structure of the Mapex kit showing where the EXS files and where the sample files are?
There's something like this already built in, but invisible to users atm. Wasn't ready for prime time but will be in a not so far future...
This shows the defaul placement of the files which is one of the main way I have tried. I have tried moving the exs file to "Drum Drops\Mapex Heavy Rock Kit\" but they have to be renamed so they don't overwrite each other. Not sure what impact that has.
I've also tried with the 24bit sample folder in place but there is no difference. I've only got the 16 folder on the iPad now as that was what Kontakt looked for so I thought it might be the standard.
"Drum Drops\Mapex Heavy Rock Kit\EXS24\Bronze Snare\Mapex Rock Kit SH Gen MIDI.exs"
"Drum Drops\Mapex Heavy Rock Kit\16 BIT SAMPLES\MPBP_SNR_FLFL_HT_005_01.wav"
Cool ! Good to know this
What happens if you select ( with "Batch Import" ) this as exs folder
Drum Drops\Mapex Heavy Rock Kit\EXS24\Bronze Snare
and that as sample folder:
Drum Drops\Mapex Heavy Rock Kit\16 BIT SAMPLES
Please remember that the import of a single exs file with the "Import" button works ONLY if all files are in the AudioLayer import folder ! Importing outside is only possible with the "Batch import" function.
I get this. A massive import of hats.
Same here. Have you tried to import the multi out version instead ? It works. At least on my libs.
Thanks for confirming. Glad it wasn't just a few of us. Also AudioLayer has not been loading properly when Exporting a project for final mix in GarageBand macOS for me. It had been performing like a champ until recently. I guess it was the last update or something Apple did that knocked it off course.
Haven't seen a multi out version. Will report back if anything changes.
Have the Mapex Heavy Rock Kit now for myself. First test - it's really weird and not functioning as expected.
Come back as soon as i know what's happening
Version 1.6.3 is out:
@NeuM please check your export problem and tell me the result.
Wow, will defo try this !!!!!
Thanks for looking in to this. I hope it helps beyond just one user and product.
I will check it when I'm able to do so later today. Thanks!
UPDATE: OK, @VirSyn... I just checked it and it appears to be working now! Whatever you did (or Apple did) seems to have fixed the issue. Was able to export to iTunes and export to desktop the rendered audio file with no problems. These hiccups are all a big mystery.
That update worked wonders on my side. Dsp went down to 10% instead of 100+%
Thanks a lot for this !
And left a 5 star review. Well deserved
👍
Thank you all for your feedback !
and now Version 1.6.4 is out:
Thanks a lot !
Will test (and enjoy) all of this this weekend.
Thanks very much. Away from my libraries for a few days but will try with what I have and report back.
