Haha! Funny! I'm glad they are listening now! :-)

  • @Audiojunkie Yeah. And they should recognize a few names here from the Twitterverse.

  • Hope I'm wrong but 'you can't teach an old dog new tricks' saying springs to mind. Forever broken imini left a sour taste in the mouth.

  • If nothing else, it's important we try.

There are some developers who would have been here discussing their apps for the past 13 pages. Dan's posted here before, it's not like they don't know we exist.

How many posts were about whether or not various MIDI functions even exist in the app, and then how many posts about how to use those functions.
They could have cleared that confusion up right away.

I know, I know, it IS great they are sounding responsive to feedback....

  • Yeah, we have to at least try. I'm hopeful at least for "some" kind of improvement. If the app syncs properly with my Cubasis, then that's something at least. :-)

  • I agree completely @Zymos! I'm remaining "cautiously" optimistic. :-) I won't get my hopes up too much, and yet I'll try to be hopeful. :-)

  • Not sure if this was mentioned already.

From Retronyms Facebook: "Thanks for all the feedback. iMPC Pro has midi support. We are putting together a blog post now to show how everything maps up. You can control pads/transport/note repeat/etc. Stay tuned to the blog."

    Groovy.

"Sorry, we would have mentioned it sooner, but we had no idea anyone even cared about such things...."

  • @Zymos is that last part an actual Retronyms quote because that could be mis-read?

  • Hey, I'm grateful they are addressing what we've all been working on the last few days. Whether they responded here directly or not, they read what we've done.

It would be great if Dan were here answering questions, no doubt, but, honestly I dunno man. 1/3-1/2 of this thread is a shit show of $13 entitlement and resentfulness. I wouldn't want to sift through it were it my app nor really even contribute a word in it knowing that as soon as I did 25 people would start yelling at me about something or other. Then, if I didn't respond to each of them I'd look aloof and uncaring. They've been pretty responsive to individual questions on Twitter and Youtube.

I hope they get the MIDI what's-what blog post out right away, natch, but I don't blame them for not taking part in this thread.

  • @skoptic @DaveMagoo you guys are awesome, those are big improvements

So this is a little silly compared to midi, but has anyone figured out how to rename a project?

So this is a little silly compared to midi, but has anyone figured out how to rename a project?

If you mean session (on disk image) click on words rather than pencil icon. A bit odd considering pencil icon means edit and they've stuck it next to the name. Suppose the idea of a disk was too big a draw and once you've done that, using a disk icon on the disk icon to indicate load starts seeming odd. Ahhh, UX design idiosyncrasies ... But hey I can deal with it all... Far more important things to be prioritised :)

Interesting that you can rename session and sequence but after saving a program you can't (I don't think). I emailed about whether you can overwrite (or 'update save') a program and got this reply

"Currently there is no way to save over a previously saved program. Right now the design is this way so users do not accidentally save over their program."

So sadly the rather long winded workflow to update a program is... Click save program, type out the name of the existing version again but with a different character or something in it (or use exactly the same name and it will append 01), click save, delete original. Fun, fun, fun at the program update workflow party! A save prompt would surely suffice here to address accidental save concerns, so I'm hoping that this was non essential for 1.0 and will be improved in a future update.

  • Hi everyone! I work for Retronyms, and just posted a blog discussing Midi layouts for iMPC Pro.

  • @water_horse_3G Hi, and thanks for the info and blogpost. Really appreciate it. Will you be around to help if any of us have any midi issues with what you've posted?

Which begs to question why they put "Midi Out" as one of the things for us to vote on in their special poll.....

  • Nanopad 2 layouts are there too. Thanks @water_horse_3G

    Two words - Damage Control!

A spokesperson for Retronyms should have been assigned here, as soon as iMPC PRO dropped.
They knew iMPC Pro had some major bugs, and that the Audiobus community would find them right away. If they had chosen to be honest from the start and acknowledged the known issues here, I think they would have earned some respect from the community.

  • On the other hand if they were really all that interested in the audiobus community then they probably would have added audiobus compatibility to their app.
