  • Don't mind at all...it's an in home care franchise (Right at Home.) Big change after being a satellite comms engineer/mgr. for 30 years , or so.

  • Sounds like a good field to be in. Best of luck to you.

  • Thanks @telecharge! The demographics are on my side!

  • @funjunkie27 Have friends in Austin who started a 'Home Instead' franchise. Worked hard and did very well (sold it recently). Def. a growing market for all us folks who would like someone to help us out while we head into our twilight years still searching for the perfect drum pattern etc.

  • I was using this on a Peavey headphone type input device, and I thought the sound was a little thin. I have just purchased an IRig Pro digital interface, and all of a sudden the whole thing sounds waaaaay better. The amps sound fat, and the stomp effects are as clear as a bell, so it obviously depends what interface you use. I am on an Ipad Air.

He only hangs out here to do market research.

  • Lol @syrupcore! I'm seeing a number of candidates already! ;-)

@JohnnyGoodyear - yeah, they're one of our competitors, but the pie is big enough to not worry about competition. Thanks for the insight though. That makes me feel better about the decision.

Yes, and you're underperforming. Expect a visit soon.

Another great point. It's assumed that we all have roughly the same "control" conditions, but the headphone jacks are terrible compared to pretty much any digital interface. Glad you switched and got a great result! (I use an Apogee JAM).

  • We have 'Home Instead' in the UK as well.

  • You have Right at Home in the UK too. We just won a franchiser of the year award there.

  • Pm me @PaulB and I'll refer you. ;-)

  • Lol. Thanks, but I currently work in home care. Not sure for how much longer though, hours are unpredictable and it's affecting my health.

  • A Rough'n'Ready warts and all guitar jam using 'Doom & Gloom' and 'Sustain' presets in Yonac Tonestack app using iRig HD as guitar interface (on an iPad 2 @supanorton with no stuttering so far).
    Drums are Cubasis Rock Kit.

  • I see people mention some issues with AB. Anyone managed to get it play nice as IAA in a Auria? I have to select it as an fx... No noise, unselect and reselect. Then if my play head goes into silence ... It craps out and crashes Auria.... Really enjoying the 43 app reboots I've done ;)

  • @PaulB - home care affecting your health?? That just ain't right! What do you do in home care?

  • @skoptic - haven't tried TS with IAA yet. I'd be interested in others' experience with it though.

  • @AlterEgo_UK - rhythm and lead both through TS? I'm guessing the sustain patch was lead and doom & gloom was rhythm...right? I liked the tones...and the playing.

  • I don't think the job is causing the problem, I just do the normal stuff, but irregular hours and eating times aren't helping.

  • That never seems to help...we need the circadian rhythms, or in our case midi sync!

  • Yep, and for minimum wage I need something regular with less hoops to jump through. I find it all rather stressful, although I do enjoy helping people.

  • Money ain't everything. Helping others can make it worthwhile, but it would be better if the stress levels don't detract from it. Ever thought of buying a franchise? If so, let me know so I can get a cut on the referral! :-). Of course that's not likely to reduce any stress levels.

Same experience here. Never got it to work.

A little Tonestack test from a track I've been working on - variously labeled but currently called "Driving"... Imagine a hot dusty road, convertible, top down, etc. Used the patch straight except for changing the reverb to hall and upping the mix and turning the trem FX off. Both rhythm and lead through the same patch, different guitar setting used for each though. Fender Strat via RP255 pedal on Bypass into CCK direct into iPad. Recorded into Cubasis. A little EQ and extra verb added in Cubasis. Stereo Designer (I <3 Stereo Designer!) used via IAA to widen the rhythm track). Enjoy :-)

@supadom - It did mute out on me once in the FX slot with iFretless Guitar in the input slot. Maybe 20 minutes into a session. Force stopping and restarting TS fixed it.

Cool thanks. I've rebooted it but no go. Haven't tried it since but will give it a go today. Not too bothered either way. Not even sure if it's even still on my ipad. 16gb makes one very selective on apps. ;)

  • Yep it is working now. Reinstall probably fixed it.

  • I got t working by switching the core audio mode in auria from multiroute to standard , that seemed to help a lot.

  • Downloaded the Motherload package. There's a lot of good stuff there. It's really tough to say that it "is" or "isn't" worth a $50 download because that's the largest single purchase I've ever made on iOS. But if you are fan of the app and want all or even most of the content, you would pay that much easily in bundles. If you paid $4.99 and didn't love anything about ToneStack's base package, then I can pretty safely say that you're setting yourself up for disappointment doubling down on that investment with a $50 bundle.

The amps are a mixed bag. I didn't come across any that I thought were just "terrible". Some of them were actually quite good, including one like the Ampeg Reverbrocket, which I hadn't every played or heard of before. As for the Fenders, I like some of them better than others (the '68 Silverface was a little thin), but there are like 5 or 6 of them. People have tend to have a particular thing in mind when they say "Fender" tone, but a Bassman sounds nothing like a Tweed Champ, which doesn't really sound like a Twin Reverb. There's a good range here, and I haven't tried it yet, but suspect you put an EQ in the effects chain of some of these amps and make it sound however you like.

Thought the Vox AC30 clone (which is an IAP) sounded pretty good. ToneStack has the best channel switching, IMO, out of all of the iOS guitar apps. Agile AmpKit has it, and a few of the JamUp amps have it, but the results in ToneStack are just a bit more predictable and realistic with the settings.

As for the effects, well, there's no way I can cover that volume of "stuff" with any brevity. As I get used to the interface, I think the controls and experience of using pedals is very well done in this app. The roadmap stays visible on the top bar (iPad), and the pedals are blown up on the screen below to basically life-like size. The knobs work great with linear controls (rotary option available). I need more time to experiment with the dirt pedals. The OCD clone was very good, though maybe not as true to the real OCD as the one in JamUp. I had the Marshall Guv'nor-looking pedal plugged into a Bluesbreaker, and it did not sound good, but perhaps my settings were messed up.

The best way I can summarize the amps and effects is this: There's a TON of stuff here, all of it is highly tweakable, and I do get an overall sense of quality with this app. You don't "need" this if you have JamUp and are happy with it, but I've been using it so far and like it quite a bit.

  • Thanks. If i was not already satisfied and "invested" in JamUp, I'd get the mother load.

    I still might.

  • @StormJH1
Thank you for your response about the iPad 2
    @AlterEgo_UK
Thank you for iPad 2 response and those are some fat sounding tones. I really dig the playing too. I guess I'm in.
