Those are just button modules and clever use of module labeling and hiding in "compact view". There's no design layout module, but there are tools for creating collapsable sections (Settings and Monitor on the right), and for hiding modules in compact view (toggled by the >< at the top right)
You can more easily pick it apart yourself. There's no magic or hidden modules in use here, just a lot of cleverness.
Thanks for the concise analysis. I have requested on Patchstorage that the developer consider placing the "intervalic buttons" on the Drambo PAD's for a more ergonomic user interface that matches with two handed input. I hope he considered is. The devloper is
zhou-jing: I hope my request is considered and implemented. The sequencer functions are
much more details than the existing Mozaic scripts which focus on the "Samchillan" layout as a key contribution and not so much on the sequencing features.
The sequencing options could also be added into the Mozaic implementations or in a fork of either implementation.
Got it, thanks!
Hey @McD , if you want to get in the game about the Misha module, you should head over to the Beepstreat discussion where the developer introduced it: http://forum.beepstreet.com/categories/presets-and-projects
That's a great idea.
I just uploaded a new version in Patchstorage and now you can play with PADs
https://patchstorage.com/m1sha/
In addition to being easy to play, you can now record and play back directly using Drambo's sequencer.
hope you enjoy it.
That was fast... I'll have a good time with this layout for sure.
Pretty nice to play with the Stay button in M1sha while the sequencer is running!
Glad you started this thread
Thanks for some videos
Brought this on Friday
Why the hell did I wait so long
Haven’t had much time on it yet, but loving what I see
Quick question
Say on track 1, I want to use the built in kick, then hit the plus and add say Ruismaker, I can’t hear it , I’m sure there is a setting I need to change so that I can hear both, I don’t want to use up lots of tracks just for my drums
Any help would be appreciated
Hi. You need to add a Mixer, to combine the various audio outputs. Then be sure the mixer output is routed to the Master output at the right. Without the mixer, only the rightmost audio output is routed to the master.
@uncledave
Thanks
Will try this later
Thanks again
@uncledave
Thanks
Got it working
Is there a manual for this app??
A lot of the modules have info in the “Help” option when you press the module head/banner.
I also always recommend watching Ben Richards and Sound For More tutorials on YouTube.
@timelining
Yes thanks
I have watched some videos
This app is gonna take some time to click me thinks
More videos to watch I guess
Thanks guys
Good. The manual is on the BeepStreet website, both online and pdf. Unfortunately, it's kinda out of date. Still useful for the basics.
Also check out the BeepStreet forum. There have been lots of useful discussions going back to the original Drambo Day. And questions are always welcome.
does a Drambo module reference wiki make sense? does one exist? would it be appropriate to use wiki.audiob.us for this purpose? a place to share per module insights/tip/tricks would be quite useful imho.
It's here, and it exists since quite a while:
https://wiki.audiob.us/doku.php?id=beepstreet_drambo&s[]=drambo
Sone modules have been added recently but 95% of the information is still valid.
The new Ableton/Gadget style Arranger / Clip launcher would have to be added yet.
thanks @rs2000. that's what i was looking for. i'm not seeing per module pages. unless i'm missing something, i'll start adding a few as i'm able. does the per module Drambo help exist as plain text?
@uncledave and @rs2000
Thanks guys
PM sent.
I’ve been using Drambo 2.0 for a couple of days now and for the most part am finding it pretty intuitive to learn. One thing that * is * a mystery is importing of presets. Like a lot of people, I guess, I went to patchstorage.com and grabbed a few presets, including, for instance, 4T-ARP. Every place I’ve tried to import it, I get the less than helpful message, “This is (a) MIDI rack preset. Please reimport this file to the appropriate module”. If I had known what the appropriate module was, I would have chosen it!
Could some kind soul firstly tell me where I can start the import process for 4T-ARP, and then show me the underlying principle for selecting the * appropriate * module? This problem applies to “.drmodule” files. I’m guessing that the “.drproject” files can be opened like any other project.
I’m coming to Drambo from a Bitwig background, and so far Drambo stands up pretty well! With Bitwig, though, you just have to select “Save to Library”, and any new preset is automatically categorised and saved accordingly. Given what Drambo * is * capable of, surely BeepStreet could provide something similar!
If you share the drproject or drmodule file with Drambo, it will automatically put it in the correct place. The trick then is to find it inside Drambo so you can use it.
This video explains everything!
Exactly. Sharing complete projects (which I prefer) instead of just presets helps avoiding too many questions and it can demo the patch better than a video in most cases.
Does Drambo have a handy dandy MIDI panic button? Um…asking for a friend. 🤣
Yep.. Transposing…
Can this be done with drambo’s sequencer to drive DrumComputer or Drumkit. I.e. a Drambo track has a kick sequenced, that sends midi to DrumComputer, and the Drum computer sends the audio to that same track.
The only way I can work it out is if I have the sequencer track before DrumComputer, and then a separate audio track after. But this only works if DC has a single track midi input?. I’ve seen Midi feedback as a track input in Drambo, thinking that maybe the tracks can send midi backwards, and the audio goes forwards.. but can’t get it to work. Ideas?
It's really simple. Just place DrumComputer on a track. Send notes to it to sequence it. Different notes trigger different pads, so only one sequencer track is needed. To split the signal by multi-out, you just tap the audio icon on the destination and you'll see the choice of outputs on DrumComputer. You can use layers, a mixer, or other tracks for your separate channel processing. Anything that is to the "right" of DrumComputer can accept any one of its outputs.
If you haven't set up multi-output in DC before, the quickest way to do so is to go to the gear icon, then tap the Quick Setup icon at the bottom-right of the Channel Assignment section.
Thanks Wim, that’s how I have it now, but it limits me to a drum sequencer where steps with more than two kit parts played at the same time are shown in the UI as a chord due to Drambo not have a special drum type track. I know ‘comp’ in the bar graph allows some separation of notes for adjusting, but I really like having separate rows in the step seq for each different part of the kit, it makes programming and editing a bit easier when jamming live. So that’s why I was wondering if I can route midi (or audio) backwards through Drambo, as a workaround.
You can have multiple "sequencing" tracks. You don't need to route them backward. Just make sure that DC is on the track after your sequencing tracks. Then add a Midi Mixer module before DC and add the other tracks' Midi outputs to it. Lastly, set DC's Midi input to the Midi Mixer output.
(I haven't tested this and don't have time now, but that should work.)
And yes, you can send MIDI "backwards" with the Midi Feedback module. It adds a small delay of a few milliseconds, but it works. You don't need to do that though.
Using midi mixer works, and that’s another great workaround, thanks.. but I can’t add fx on each channel in Drambo this way. I will try the midi feedback module next… in lieu of a Drambo step ‘drum track’ i.e. DrumTrack(midi only)>DrumComputer>AudioTracks
