  • Thanks @DMfan and @MatthewAtZenbeats. Another big update.

  • Feature request: it’d be really useful if one could time stretch loops on ZR1.
With the slicing options it’s a great tool to pick parts of loops, rearrange them and make new rhythms or add variation.
As of now If you load the loop directly in ZR1 there’s no way to stretch it to fit the tempo.
As a workaround can add a loop to an audio track so it stretches to time and adapts to the BPM. If you then drag that audio to ZR1 the loop is in perfect time.

It’s not the most streamlined flow but it’s ok, problem comes if you want to change the tempo. You have to do it all over again. @MatthewAtZenbeats i wonder if not being able to timestretch on ZR1 has anything to do with an issue I mentioned about loop points not being right in audio clips after time stretching. I guess that slices and audio points on ZR1 would behave the same.

  • I have a problem on my iPhone XR.
I can not add an instrument to an instrument track. The plug-in list is shown, after selecting a plug-in it is not added.
I have tried a few thing, turning on/off rotation lock, rescan plugins, play with the gui scale option. It is also not working anymore on my old iPhone se 2016, I can live with that :)
Before I reinstall Zenbeats, anyone else can think of something I can try?

Tap where it says AU at the left of the list, not on the name of the AU. (And yes, it's an oddly un-intuitive design choice.)

Haha omg I feel so stupid, I fiddled everywhere excep on the ‘au’ label.
I have only used Zenbeats on the iPad all this time, there you can just tap anywhere in the whole bar, indeed a weird design choice.
    Thank you, Wim.

No, it's the same on the iPad too. Yes, it's one of the oddest UI design choices I've ever seen. No, you shouldn't feel stupid. There's nothing about the visual cues that would make you think that's where you have to tap. :D

Pardon me if this has already been discussed, but I’m running into an issue where some AUv3s won’t size reasonably. In the screenshot example, Zeeon takes the full screen, making it impossible to interact with the Zeeon UI and the keyboard at the same time. Am I missing a config setting or something?

Edit: Okay I found it. It is the “Use Plugin Windows” option on the Plugins page of settings. When it works, it allows you to have multiple AUv3 UIs visible at once, but some apps just don’t take to it for whatever reason, and there’s no way I can see to manually resize windows in that mode. Bummer.

It would be great to see this improve. I hope it’s not on the system side or the dev side.

I have a suspicion, which is that some AUs build their UI with a reasonable default point size and allow it to scale up or down, and some build their UI by grabbing 100% of the available container space, even if the UI won’t fill it in both dimensions. Seems like AUM deals with this by basically implementing a full overlapping resizable windowing environment inside the app, which is no small feat. That’s kind of what Zenbeats needs to do as well for this feature to work rather than relying entirely on the plugin to determine its own window size. BTW Tal-U-NO-LX has the opposite problem from Zeeon in Zenbeats. It defaults to a window size that’s way too tiny to interact with, and there’s nothing you can do to make it bigger. I think the “Use plugin windows” feature maybe just isn’t ready for general use.

Yes, we need to implement Time Stretching in ZR1. It's on our feature request backlog.

As for the loop point bug you reported, we are still investigating. Thanks for your patience!

Will look into a design change to fix this issues and we are working on better plugin size support too.

    Stay tuned!

  • Does Zenbeats have sidechain support yet? That was the only real deal breaker for me last time I tried it.

After discovering Cubasis has no Plugin Delay Compensation recently, I'm quite keen to try out an alternative DAW. Thinking about it, does Zenbeats actually have PDC?!

No sidechain support yet but it does have PDC.

Good to know it has PDC, thanks!

I can probably make do with Bleass Sidekick for the majority of my sidechaining needs, but 'proper' sidechain support sure would be nice (especially for dynamic EQ sidechaining using Fabfilter Pro-Q!)

    What is PDC ?

    What is PDC ?

Plugin Delay Compensation meaning esssentially that ZB has the option of compensating for the small amount of extra time, latency, it takes for external plugins to communicate with the app. Useful for example when doing real-time recording.

I am certain this is in the feature request backlog. If I remember correctly it has been mentioned in ZB threads here numerous times and noted by @MatthewAtZenbeats.

Point Defense Cannon. Used to take out incoming missiles.

Sidechain support is in the backlog, for sure. 👍

  • Not sure if you can float this up the chain, but I would totally do the mega unlock for a Black Friday 50% sale. I don’t wanna come off as greedy. I actually think that the Roland ecosystem has that value. It’s just really cutting into my mobile app budget. My bigger spends are often on the desktop.

I don’t mean to devalue what you and Roland are doing. It’s a really great product.

  • @MatthewAtZenbeats Great to see another update! Would it be possible for us to please please get midi learn to work for the piano roll knob adjustments? This would be a pretty special feature if it worked for hardware controllers

The default only 2 channel output on multi output bug still lurking in there. Hopefully it's not a huge programming un😬dertaking.

  • Let’s Unmix AU won’t show as AU in ZB, works fine in AUM. Anyone else?

    Hey everyone,

I always enjoy hearing people's work in Zenbeats. I wanted to share something I've been kicking around. Any feedback or questions are welcome.

Did you try "Scan for New" in settings > plugins?

Also check to see if the plugin is in the Quarantined filter.
