Really nice track! Great feel from the beat and sound!
My earlier post was a hint of things to come. I didn't show any of the new effects, but the sound is unmistakable :-)
Here's the full change log https://www.rolandcloud.com/news/introducing-zenbeats-3-1
As aways, thanks to everyone here on this forum for the support, suggestions and feedback.
Thanks for the kind words! That was a song I started for the purpose of testing our new sidechain plugins.
Zenbeats is getting better and better.
Great job Matthew!
I know it’s early and the 3.1 update is not yet in the swedish appstore but is 3.1 a ‘paid’ update or does the existing 3.0 platform unlock cover it?
It’s a free update
That's correct. It's a free update for V3 owners.
Plus we are running an awesome promo on all V3 unlocks (including Max Unlock). See the in-app store for more details
Cool, will check when the update drops…
Don’t know if it’s only me and my 11” M1 iPadPro but yesterday when I was using the mixer in ZenBeats the level sliders felt like ‘glued to the screen’ and din’t move as fluidly as all the other controllers!? (They moved but not as fluidly as the other controllers).
Looking forward to the day when we can hopefully fully edit the ZC-1 patches/presets
Cheers!

Well that's it then, with sidechain support now present and accounted for, it's time for me to jump back into this DAW. Awesome news!
Welcome! And please let us know your findings after coming back. The developer is very active and info from this forum is actively passed on to the development team.

Not just awesome news, but awesome implementation of sidechaining!
To be honest I’m really surprised that no one mentioned so far that how cool is it!
@CapnWillie : Ditto, I’m considering buying the MV1.. Zenbeats is indeed probably getting more love and updates than any other iOS DAW .
Probability on instrument track would have been nice.. or, am I missing something?
Then again one can jump thru some hoops and Drambo as a MidiFx.
@CapnWillie 100!
This is quite handy:

I can’t see why this would not work with Zenbeats? If so, it would make a very efficient live rig…or?
Anyone owning a Launchpad Pro mk3 with MIDI and care to try?
...> @DMfan said:
any non bidirectional-sterile midi configuration isn't much useful ,but ΖΒ3 has midi learn so I'm sure you can program it for live rig
I think there is a bug with the filter on the mixer , it always pops a little when moving start or end . Maybe it's by design , when on default position it's deactivated for cpu optimization , don't know
If there would be a bi-directional support of modern Launchpads, I would return to Zenbeats on the iPad. In a live situation pushing buttons on a touch screen is too fiddly for me.
I’m a controller person. I love using knobs and buttons with haptic and visual feedback. DAW makers should follow the example of Bitwig that provides a comprehensive API for controllers. Thanks to community scripts from Moss and Richie Hawtin I can operate Bitwig without touching the mouse or looking at the screen to a large degree (using an LPX, Akai APC 40 and Akai Fire).
Are you referring to the Main Track filter in the mixer view? If so, it is dead quiet for me, no pops. Care to share some more details? When is it happening? What device are you on?
/DMfan🇸🇪
Yeah, those were my thoughts. Triggering clips and controlling the level faders or mute through hardware in a live situation. Basically having an iPad based ”MC-707”. Using the iPad only in a situation like that doesn’t appeal to me at all.

Not to speak for @MatthewAtZenbeats ,but he has hinted elsewhere that a possible hardware configuration for Zenbeats MIGHT be on the drawing board.
Yes , that filter . to be precise it clicks only once when I tweak it from the default position right or left (enabling hi cut/lo cut)
Also it seems I can't put on favorites the AU plugins, I press the star icon , nothing happens
Another bug I found was rendering on the fly a midi loop with DRC to an audio clip , audio was scattered , freezing the track first and then unfreezing it ,fixed the problem when moved the loop again to audio clip
It seems strange that ZB3 saves the project when freezing a track , it might not be helpful if you are just messing around
A minor GUI issue , was wondering where the cpu meter was and had to scale to 90% the GUI , then it fitted the screen
Air2 latest iOS
Edit: does anyone know if there is an option to double the lenght of a clip in loopbuilder view ? I was 99% sure I could do it in the past but it seems it's only possible on timeline view
That would be great , in the meantime I mess with the Akai Force , although the plugins are much lower quality than AUs (drumsynth is fine) , I prefer the hardware feel . ZB3 feels like a mobile Force in terms of workflow
I know that Ableton Live is competitive software but wish there was a way to export clips to Live set
(so I could import them to Force)
PS. A quick FR , it would be nice to export a drum pad to Sampleverse track for playing it chromatically
Seems like the keyboard used to show in scaler 2 plug in, inside ZB, before most recent update.
Also seems like lots of dead space surrounding plug in.
Tried changing up scale factor, and use plug in windows, with no improvement.
The AUv3 issues are high priority for the dev team right now. Making sure Scaler 2 plugin is in the list if it’s not there already.

Been out of the loop for a while, was wondering if ZC1 is ever supposed to become more than a preset-player?
@Korakios : I was tempted to buy the Akai 61 but also was a bit put off by the quality of the AIR plug ins. I think I’ll just stick w Zenbeats/n-Track
The 61 has some more synths but still if you are spoiled by iOS synths/apps it's hard to compare
to be fair MPC 61 is great as a standalone device and has a nice (for hardware) sampling engine to autosample external iOS sounds . Better continue to the other thread
