  • Due to the bug w the Model12 in/outs I gave Cubasis a try. I just want to say that ZB is sooooo much better.
Vastly superior included sounds, both number and quality.
Better and wider range of internal fx.
The drum sequencer. Oh man how I missed that on my brief Cubasis incursion. Drums on a piano roll is beyond me, can’t stand it,
Automation is supposedly better on Cubasis as you can automate all plugin parameters, but it’s very fiddly.
Let’s not even get into Clip launching…
My preconception was that despite having less features, Cubasis was less buggy, more stable. Happens to be false. I got constant garbling and dropouts w Cubasis internal plugins, some auv3 wouldn’t make a sound and required a reboot, a few hangs and crashes…

This experience has made me appreciate Zenbeats some more. I’m certain Zenbeats could reach Cubasis in the areas it’s behind (such as midi fx or auv3 automation) way faster and with a lot less effort than it’d take Cubasis to level up with Zenbeats.

    Go ZB! 🙌

  • @MatthewAtZenbeats Can I please add a feature request for import of clips created on the roland mc 101/707 hardware. The clips are already interchangeable between the various devices. Making it possible to exchange with Zenbeats seems like a natural evolution.

Also I know about the Roland mv-1 integration with Zenbeats. Are there plans to expand to the mc hardware?

  • Hi,
Is anyone else having problems when adding auv3 plugins?. Often I’ll add a plugin to a track and I’ll loose sound. Either only that track or the whole project. Doesn’t matter if I turn off the plugin, can’t get the sound back. I found that if o go to settings, change the audio device to “none” and back I’ll get the sound back, which is a lot faster than restarting. Happens with any/many plugins.

Yes, this is happening to me as well but I haven’t figured out what’s causing it. It seems occur randomly.

Seemingly random but I haven’t done any real testing. Also, I don’t recall it cutting off audio when a plugin is first instantiated but later when changing a parameter.

Have the same problem. Very nice with the change audio device hack!

  • Does anyone know if there’s pinch-to-zoom capabilities in Zenbeats on the timeline and piano roll? I can’t seem to find anything in the settings or manual. I’m trying to gel with the workflow, but having to use the tiny +/- buttons or scroll bars is pretty inconsistent and inaccurate for me so far.

OK. Can you name a plugin that you have had issues with several times, or is it genuinely just random? Reason for asking is that I know the dev team is very much focused on getting as many AUv3s working as possible. I´ve asked the dev aka @MatthewAtZenbeats to check in here to get more details from you guys.

I love this idea. Thanks for sharing. Be sure to share it directly with the support channels for the MC products.

Anyone having issues with AUv3 plugins, please report them using the Support link in the app. Please include the name of the plugins that triggered the issue and also send screen shots of the your Settings/Audio tab and Settings/Plugins tab. Thanks!

I used to face this issue when I put ZB temporarily to the background for a while by switching to another app. When I go back to ZB it becomes silent.
My workaround is: Go to Settings/Audio: reselect the desired buffer size and there you go.

It’s genuinely random. The same plugin works fine after you reset the audio engine.

  • Question for everyone experiencing that problem. Is the Enable Background Audio option checked in Settings/Audio tab?

    Not checked (on purpose).

  • @MatthewAtZenbeats said:

Yes, I always leave it on.

    I have background audio enabled.
I just did a long session and it didn’t happen. Yesterday on a shorter session it happened a dozen times and today nothing… it was rock solid today.
Btw I just finished a song on the Zenbeats timeline, which I hardly do. Enjoyed it. Best iOS DAW by far. The way it manages loops on the timeline is spot on. Can’t stand how you have to copy/paste a región in other daws.

Yes, I always leave it on.

Update… Prior to @MatthewAtZenbeats asking about background audio, I had systematically inserted every AUv3 plugin on my iPad (audio effect, not midi), one by one, onto a simple drum track. I have a LOT of plugins, maybe 80?. 16 of them caused the audio to be silenced while a few others caused ZB to crash. I’ll report the latter through the support channel.

Following Matthew’s note about background audio, I retested a number of them and encountered the same problem so background audio doesn’t seem to be the cause. As @tahiche noted previously, resetting the audio engine results in the misbehaving plugins working as they should. It’s also worth noting that the issue occurred across multiple plugin developers and that within some (e.g. Nembrini, ToneBoosters), some plugins were problematic while others were fine.

Like @tahiche, I love working in Zenbeats so none of this is meant to slag the app. A bug was introduced in a recent iOS or ZB update and we just need to help the devs hunt it down and snuff it out.

It was me who reported then issue but never heard anything from anyone. I guess it’s not a big deal for a lot of people, but for owners of the Tascam Model 12 it’s a big issue. It allows us to have use if all these available outs for creativity and pro usage. The outs are there. Occasionally they show up but as as one as you select anything other than 1&2 they disappear.

Thanks for the info here. We'll be releasing a new patch later today with updates on AUV3 handling, but I suspect this issue will still be there. Thanks for all the info on helping us track this down.

  • How to record audio in Zenbeats in Koala auv3? Nothing works out.

Had the same issue. RSS iVoks works like this but that is because its developer coded it like that, most developers don’t as I understand it.

ZB dev is figuring on a solution.

I'm trying to use Koala as auv3 to record voice directly into the sampler. But neither the audio track with the audio effect nor the Koala instrument react to the microphone. I connected the monitor and searched in the routing. There is no result. In AUM, it works so easily. It's not clear here. At the same time, the built-in zen sampler writes without problems. Is the problem in the routing or what?

  • So you want record a sampler into another sampler? Wouldn’t it be easier to just record directly into ZR1? Or if you have a sample in Koala save it as a wav. file and import it into ZR1 as a user sample?
