What would make Zenbeats a ”real” DAW to you guys? What do you feel is missing or showstoppers?

I'd like a complete UI overhaul. The current UI keeps getting in my way, unlike Cubasis UI, for example.

Please don't take this wrong, but what's the point then? Why not just use Cubasis? Or, to put it more positively, what is there about Zenbeats that you would want to see preserved - that make it worthwhile bothering with, and what parts "get in the way" that could be changed, while preserving what you do like (if anything).

I'll have to revisit Zenbeats, haven't used it in a few months, to have a better list of things I think could be improved. Overall - yes, Cubasis is good as well, but the way it handles automation is not very compatible with my approach (plus it's buggy), while Zenbeats is great in that regard.

Okay, so here I am, trying to bring a loose recording closer to the grid. The workflow in Cubasis is tedious and quite buggy. However, either I don't see something obvious, or it's even harder to do here.

All I want is to be able to stretch the short clip on the left to make it snap to the grid. I don't seem to be able to just drag and stretch it; instead, I have to change its length to match the grid, and then try to guess how much should i adjust the BPM, which is only possible by typing (no dragging), and to do so, i have to turn off the pencil, because otherwise the keyboard won't show up. I might be missing something, or it may be a preference thing that i just don't get, but it seems to be a good example of the case when the function is there, it works without issues, but its interface gets in the way.
