The UI is terrible. As far as gas for this, the car is dead 30 miles back and I’m hitch hiking. Singing songs and movin on.

I used to not like the UI. Then I challenged myself to make a Lofi track in FLSM, and while I found it a bit cumbersome to navigate on the iPad Pro 12.9" screen, I was "right at home" with it on my iPhone. Everything is within reach of my thumbs. And thus my "Lounging in Another World" EP was created.

@echoopera Are you sure "high quality" is switched on when rendering?

I think the UI is one of the nicer ones around for a mobile first app. IL did a great job on the UI and workflow imho.

That's what I think too. :) Just took a little getting used to, but now I'm right at home in FLSM.

  • Wish I could save fx chains or instrument creations with the fx saved with it and be able to open those sounds in different tracks.

I wish I could do that too, or even at least to copy/paste fx chains. I may bring this up on the Image-Line forums.

It has been requested. The more requests, the more grease!

  • I love the UI :D

    Yes! Definitely.

  • Does anyone know if I could do the following in FLSM:

    • load a break beat sample
    • Slice it to midi
    • move the midi notes about
    • render the edited break back to audio.

Moving the notes about is mainly to snap some of the drum hits onto the grid (I.e. selectively quantising).

Oh yeah, and it’s awesome as the slicer automatically generates the midi for the ordered sequence

    Woo hoo!

I'd seen that vid, but it doesn't show nudging hits around in the piano roll after it's auto chopped them. Thank you for confirming it can (and for the quick reply).

I'll make use of the generated midi too.

Incredible really - never thought this would make it to mobile.

  • It’s terrible in my honest opinion…still

Do you have any particular gripes?

It’s not terrible. It just needs to support auv3 and have more robust synths to take advantage of iPadOS and iOS frameworks. But since it’s a universal multi platform app they need to figure out how to take full advantage of the M1 chipset.

ZenBeats has the same multi platform issue IMHO.

I do think AUv3 support will come this year, but don't hold me to it, lol. 😅 That said, I don't think it needs more robust built-in synths but rather just the AUv3 support so I can use the robust AUv3 synths I already have. If IL can utilise automation clips to automate the AUv3 synths and effects in my toolkit, it may mean the end of my using NS2 entirely! 🫢

    You cant automate cc output?

That sucks, can you copy paste entire tracks between projects? That might be a workaround

FX/instrument chains are planned to be added. You cannot copy channels between projects. You can build template projects.

Focusing on what FLSM can’t do is pointless and no different than any other app. It is very powerful with what it can do and many don’t know all it can do.

  • I'm learning what it can and can't do

  • Drambo: what is my purpose

Me: you wobble the pitch bend

  • See my response in the FLSM forum. You can do this right in the app. No Drxxbo needed. 😎👍🏼

I don’t use it at all. I don’t find any fun factor. 😎👍🏼

I hear ya. I managed to make it fun for me though by making every single track a Flexi sampler, disregarding modular synth building entirely (except adding fx to the sampler), and then saving that as a standard project template. Then it becomes more like a fun sampler groovebox where you just load your samples and compose. Experimenting with turning overdub on and off is also a fun way to jam. Off, it replaces old notes like IKaossilator, fun for endless and immediate melodic exploration. Good tool to have anyways 🤷‍♂️

  • So I opened drambo, i opened steel guitar (which can't be opened in FL btw lol) banged some keys and recorded that live playing to koala.

cut, normalize, save to FL sample folder.

then I tapped the bpm inside FLM, sync, drop 2 semitones and I got this for today's lunch beat:

Drambo and FLSM forever and ever <3
