Also, it's a six dollar app, not much to complain about, especially after actually using it.

    Indeed.

I think a lot of people see it’s made by Ableton and think it has to be some kind of DAW for iOS. The limitations are there intentionally.

Exactly mate. I like it for what it is...a musical sketchpad. Do I wish for some added bells and whistles in future updates? Of course. But for now, it's more akin to Figure and Auxy - a musical sketchpad. Plus for desktop users like @mistercharlie , this would be a godsend for generating new ideas that can be directly ported over into Live. Maybe I missed any post he made in this thread amongst the dross, but I am very curious to read his opinion of the app.

I like it a lot. Especially sampling into it, which is ridiculously fast. Almost as fast as Koala.

I think Note is clearly best as a mobile partner for Live. I love Koala. It’s probably my favorite music app ever, but I don’t use it that much because getting stuff out is a pain. I know it has Ableton export, but Note is on another level.

Asking for Note to be anything other than an idea starter for Live is pointing. There are a million apps that do all that stuff better. Use Gadget, or Koala. The idea that a new app should be changed to fit your own requirements is egotistical at best. Plus, most of those requests would just make it duplicates other apps.

One tip that I picked up in another thread is to use an OP-1 with this. Plug it in, and it becomes a loopback device. You can then split-screen Note with any other app, and record it. If that app has Link, like Koala (!), you’re golden.

The main request right now is wanting to be able to choose scale and key per clip instead of the whole session and yes, I'll make that request.

Just to clarify the scale you select only changes the keyboard, it doesn’t snap the current notes to the scale. So you are free to modulate however you like.

Also this little app is PRETTY INNOVATIVE, you should give it a try for what it is

Obviously Note will never be a “daw” but I do hope it becomes more of a standalone groovebox which I rank a bit above a sketch pad. I told them in the feedback to do IAPs for more sounds and an IAP to unlock unlimited scenes. I figured appealing to the need to make money would be best. And I’d definitely pay

Ok, maybe it’s just the key then. Iirc there was mention of setting it for the session. Since you can set each clips scale/key settings on the desk version, it’s another setting they could ‘sync’.

You set it but you can change it whenever you like, it doesn't alter the notes you already punched in, it doesn't transpose them nor conforms them to the new scale

Respectfully, I don’t think appealing to the need to make money is a good strategy. They have money. And it assumes that that’s what’s going to motivate them more to add a feature instead of whether it’s a good idea or not for the app or because they enjoy what they’re making. It could come across as insulting, actually.

I’m sure scenes aren’t unlimited because a set number keeps things way more efficient, not because they want to restrict you. Asking for unlimited means an inevitable choke on performance and playback at a certain point. And then it also means you’d have to page or scroll more to get around which also hinders convenience and immediacy.

Is it common now to request for IAP from big developers instead of just requesting for a feature? Because I feel like capitalism has really done a number on people when they start saying ‘I will pay you for more freedom and ability’ instead of just asking for more.
Developers will already decide for themselves whether they’re going to charge extra.

Well whatever, the feedback submission was available in app, I shared my thoughts. Will they listen? Haven’t a clue. That’s all there is it to it.

  • All feedback submitted will get read and considered, rest assured.

    How to improve a $6 app? 🤔
    With a $2,000 hardware add-on! 👍😁

Works with the OG-1 too. Only $1,000!

  • Just record to koala and share to note

  • It took me longer to upload to youtube

Capitalism has definitely done a number on the people. Ask Russia, Iraq, Afghanistan, post-Brexit UK, the US since Reagan, and throw another 100 or so other countries.

    Don’t forget Project Aerodynamic!

That’ll be an interesting series to watch. Looks like a lot of good music in there too! In context to USSR/RF, I had already seen snippets of post-soviet kids laughing about what they had to do to survive (specifically something I don’t want to mention) . Besides that, I get ya. I hope Gorby is choking on burnt pizza hut breadstix in hell

Note that I recognize this forum is an escape from the rest of reality for many, I want to respect that and don't want to turn it into twitter at the drop of a dime.

If he lived in Russia in the 80s or 90s he certainly had his fair share of hellishly bad pizza when he was alive - those were the days when bad ketchup was used as pizza sauce 😂
