I’m still messing about with the beta on 15 and can’t find a way to import downloaded patches into the AUv3 in aum - was this the insurmountable bug that prompted the move to 16 or am I just missing something?
I don't know, but you may need to do the import in a stand-alone app. AUv3 have limited file system access.
Use drag-n-drop from Files (in slide over or side-by-side mode) into the AUv3. I don't know if another solution will be added.
This isn't the reason that it isn't supported in iOS 15. That was something to do with a crashing bug that was found to be the result of an OS bug.
Ah fair enough, I thought it might be something like that; adding standard modules seems to crash it too… I guess I’ll update the iPad as there’s good reports in that other thread. It’s great in ableton too, shame it doesn’t have a bat for the MIDI but there’s rather a lot of great stuff for less than twenty notes!
@Krupa : What do you mean "it doesn't have a bat for the MIDI"?
Ack sorry, I typed VST but it must have done that post typing auto correct so I missed it…
Really wanted Audulus, but I have since purchased so many synths and become more careful going forward. But it's clearly a unique and undeniably very cool synth. I'll play around with it and see where it gets me.
This is probably the closest thing to Bitwig’s Grid on iPad. Would love to try it, but I have too many music projects I need to backup before risking a major OS update.
This is like a unique mi rack thing to me. IT has its own vibe and interface. I think it's insane and its flavor is really just fun to get it to where it's totally warped and with so many time based synths and fx. I think it's rather user friendly but I don't have the zoom proper yet, like it's better than 3 but I keep zooming all the way out! Not the worst if thats my only problem. Have not tried midi or auv3 stuff. So far as standalone im really liking it. Cheers. Next thing im going to try is to try audio in, I remember in 3 it was super well done. I hope you all try it and dig i.
Oddly enough, Drambo still somewhat overwhelms me, but in my opinion it's the best modular environment for non-modular folks such as myself. Drambo and I have an on-again, off-again sort of relationship, and I honestly should dig back into it for Lofi purposes.
...
Bloody hell! I've been searching for SynthQ forever but could never remember its name! 😱 I just remembered it as that "crazy colourful synth I loved fiddling with in 2015". You're my hero mate, lol. If they ever released an AUv3 version for a separate price (like a SynthQ 2), I'd purchase it in a heartbeat.
Sooooooo... Any Expert Sleepers ES-9 premade module/support???
Came here to ask this exact thing.
Hopefully it has a way to talk to es5 expanders too like mirack does.
what sort of special modules? You can double-check by asking in the discord, but I believe A4 can talk to Expert Sleepers interfaces . Audulus 3 could also and I believe some people prototyped some eurorack modules using an Audulus/expert sleepers combo. As long as the iPad can see it, you can send to it.
This looks very cool. Question: does the sequencer allow for slewing when sequencing external (!) gear via a midi to CV interface like ES8 or a KeyStep? I saw them use this technique on YouTube with A111-3 but without the slew added to the patch.
Nonetheless, this is an incredible, modern release!
There isn't "a sequencer". There are slewing modules you can incorporate. Audulus is a toolkit for building things. Some people have built some cool sequencers but there isn't a central sequencer. It is different from Drambo in this regard.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how risky is it to update a well-functioning iOS 15.5 system to 16.1?
Asking for a friend.😉
It's working OK for me, iPadOS 16.1.1 on iPad 6. AUM, Audiobus, MIDI, stand-alone music apps, AirPlay, Bluetooth all working normally. A few new settings to turn off, if you choose. Text editing seems a bit snappier, if anything.
A3 had it, so might be here also.
Using an iPad 9:
I would go for 16.2. I did the upgrade to 16.11. yesterday. Apps working fine, but the App store was not loading properly anymore. Could not update apps, and often just got a blank screen or an endless "loading" noodle displayed. However, 16.2 update was offered this morning, and after I installed it the problems were gone.
🥳🥳🥳
Anyone else finding it a tad crashy in AUM? It’s fairly solid standalone, but patching with it loaded as an auv3 seems to totally do its nut in far too regularly to be practical… it’s not killing the host, just itself, and doesn’t restore where I was at when I reload it making it next to impossible to develop anything.
Yep, I’ve found it crashing a lot when building modules in AUV3 within AUM. I find that building a module in standalone is fine and then drag and drop module into AUV3 works. Other option is to keep saving the state (using save in AUM) within the AUV3 allows you to restore from last save point in AUM.
I’m a complete newbie to this but I must say it looks extremely cool and some of the patches are incredible. Can anyone explain to me why the AUv3, even when loaded as an instrument, lacks many of the patches from the standalone. Is there any way, for example, I can get that fantastic tubes patch to load in AUM?
@Gavinski you should be able to select the patch in standalone as in circle the whole patch and copy and then paste in to the auv3, at least that worked the other way around for me.
Ah! Thanks, will try that.
Also, about crashes. Just had a nice 3 instrument instances running in AUM and 1 fx instance. Nothing else. Deleted the fx auv3 and all 3 instrument AUv3s immediately crashed
Also, just tried the copy and paste thing. I circled the Tube patch in standalone and selected copy. I went to the AUv3 instrument patch, tapped, ‘paste’ appeared but when I pressed it nothing happened.
Good to know, and good call @ik2000 , thanks 🙏
How to drag and drop into aum?
Also, I finally got copy and paste to work, but I needed to have stage manager open for it to work, not sure if that's how it's supposed to be?
