I’ve got Zeeon for a long time and sadly I could never get along with it. I’m sure it’s nothing wrong with the synth itself but the filter sounds too harsh to my ears. Maybe I’ll give it another go.

Get all the free preset packs floating around in the forum and on YouTube with a search. That should help.

    Good idea!! Thanks

I'd like to know this, too. Maybe @MatthewAtZenbeats can say.

For my part, I don't usually like subscriptions but I've pretty much decided that the $2.99 Roland Cloud monthly sub (or $29.99/year) is the best way forward. I own the v2 unlocks and have been tempted by the sales on the ZB All Platform and Max unlocks but calculating out the spend, that sub seems like the best deal since you get Max Unlock and a few other things plus I can quit any time and it presumably includes upgrade protection.

Yep same here, don't usually like subscriptions but decided this was the way forward in this case despite the sale. I may have bought the max unlock instead if there was more clarity about my question regarding upgrades. Bought the 1-year subscription so am good for the next year, and will probably outright purchase in future after V4 comes around or depending on the situation then.

Had I known the ZC1 and Zen Synths were as amazing as this, known it had other samples/modeled instruments in the other synths, known how amazing the ZR1 drum machine was, and that I would barely leave the zen ecosystem I would’ve gone for the $40 one last year when it came out and I just got an iPad. But since I got it so late, bought so many instruments and synths and effects, I would feel like I wasted almost a hundred bucks with them, but also they are excellent and amazing so I love to use them still. Now with Grand finale 2, I have everything I need for full A-Z production on my iPad but I feel the max unlock gives you all that , so I’ll just keep my plug ins and use Logic when on desktop. If V4 comes out, (what would it be? Next may?) I’m sure I would do the upgrade when it’s on sale; but until then they have to do a multi thread update imo.

I agree the quality of the ZB synths is fantastic but I’m still glad I have all my other AUs. I rarely use ZC1 despite how great it is. But it I’m glad it’s there for when I want to just work only in ZB.

How are you liking GF2? I have Trinity (and a plethora of Toneboosters/FAC/etc mastering apps) but I’ve been considering GF2 just to have some of the power of Trinity in AU, though I’m pretty much sold on Trinity by now as it is.

MelodEasy is free usually $1.99 - $.99 IAP for midi out.

Kind of clunky but also has a unique concept so I paid the iap; it took my money; didn’t unlock. So Beware!

Me too. Trinity is my BF list for sure. I have to be honest; I have not yet got to a mastering stage (just got Zb and also got the plug in just shortly ) but I just did a quick on/off to test it, and I like being able to have it in the master chain . Once I finish my next track from scratch I’m going to master and give you some feedback.

I have Geoshred Control upgraded to Pro. The geo swams Ian are listed at $14.99 (bundles are cheaper). Is that a deal? If I bought just one instrument is cello a good one?

  • Not sure how I missed this but I’m guessing the sale is so good cause v3 is right around the corner

Synthmaster 2 is $18 off at only $5.99

People have differing opinions on the Synthmaster synths, but for me I’ll never buy another thing from them due to their seeming inability to fix what they make or design a sensible UI.

I have Geoshred Pro but haven’t bought any SWAM instruments inside it yet so I can’t make any recommendations there. I have heard the Cello is one of the better ones though. I know they’re cheaper than the standalone but I can remember what the prices are. Can anyone confirm?

The SWAM cello is indeed excellent in GeoShred Pro. Same with the violins. I’d urge anyone interested to listen to the example videos available on YouTube to help them make a decision. Just search “GeoShred Pro SWAM Cello”.

Have you tried Logic yet? I’m curious how much better it is than the studio string and horns included there. I’m sure it’s of better quality, just wondering how much. The SWAM stuff has always been on my radar, but the price is a bit prohibitive as I’m something of a completionist 😂

I use the macOS version of Logic Pro. Still don’t have the money to buy a new iPad Pro, so it’ll be a while… but yes, all of the Logic Pro instruments on desktop are fantastic. Using GeoShred Pro on iOS you get a different kind of performance advantage. For solo instruments, I don’t think you can beat GeoShred + SWAM.

Cool thanks! I may try and grab a couple during the sale (if it applies to Geoshreds SWAM instruments or not). The ones in Logic work fine for me for now but the performance capabilities of Geoshred would be great.

  • All of The swam bundles appear to be decently discounted too it looks like

  • edited July 2023

$14.99 is the regular price (not a sale price ) for GeoShred based single swam instrument iap.

Right now it is the swam stand-alone/auv3 instruments and bundles on sale. The iap instruments in geoshred are not on sale (yet, at least).

You will have more control of the instrument in the regular swam version compared to geoshred and som sale it’s 5 dollars more than the version inside geoshred. I do Have the swam cello inside geoshred and love it though! Listen to YouTube and pick the sound you like the most.

Are logics studio strings and horns physical modeling because that’s what distinguishes the swam from Many others imo

I’m not sure. If they are samples they’re very good and responsive. I prefer physical modeling as well but for the price it’s much easier with Logic since I already have it lol

So I got close to a decent mix and I said let me throw this thing on to see what it does for hotstrange even if I don’t keep this as the final mix/master. My thoughts, it’s a pretty great mastering tool and to have it running within my DAW allows me to go back and tweak something I may actually have missed. That’s not what should be happening at that point, but I’m not a studio engineer so my mixing itself needs work. That’s why I need FF (or TB too is as good) because while ZB actual EQ, Limiters and compressors are very very good, seriously, it’s hard to compare any built in DAW effects to FF or TB suite. I think most engineers would even agree with that, and I’m an amateur producer (aspiring to be pro again).

You know when you work on a track for a few days(or even hours) you forget where you started and how you end up somewhere totally different in the end, with the only reference being the original file (I keep originals before I often radically start alterations). With this, I don’t have to worry about that. It’s like I can turn on and off, or adjust at will. I return to that later

Like Trinity it had its own flowchart for the signal path, and that’s something I defer to expert for. I cannot pretend to know how to set up an effect chain for mastering , so not only is it powerful if you know what you’re doing. It is helpful if you don’t know what you’re doing.

    TWO MINOR issue:
    A) no mid in EQ , whcih is weird. You have a MBC but no mid. Now some studio engineer I know would say AT THAT POINT you shouldn’t be messing with mids and so for that I kind of defer to expert Klevgrand, he did it for a reason. And the MBC should take care of your EQ before it gets to the final path, that’s how I saw it. Less is more with this as I think jade said?
B.even less important, the limiter is like only to stop redline clips, but I also feel like this is user issue. Like your LUFs should tell you already to adjust something I’d your over 6dB right? Meaning if you’re already not at 12dB and that’s your goal then adjust all paramaters to get the volume right, so people who are mad at it for that I find kind of like ok I get it; limiter should be lower or adjustable, Trinity is 2dB i think ? So it’s like remix your issue or just re master your stuff, and sometimes you only need a little with this thing. Also, I would just throw on Limiyer L3 after the GF2 to cheat after if I have any reason to think I need it

Overall, just like the rest of mixing and mastering tools from Klevgrand, it’s high quality. I wish I knew how to use it better but I just played with some presets and it’s great. It instantly can offer you a fresher take without getting stale from like listening over and over and kind of getting sick of your own work. If you have Trinity you don’t need it I suppose but if you like to tweak things within your DAW, I mean it’s . It pretty great most would say I think ; that’s what it mean when you get sick of your work you can turn this on or off, turn off parameters , use your preferences in EQ or Limiter AuV3 in chain. It’s just a little more versatile in that way, I say get it if you have $9. Wether you use a rompler or a real Daw like Logic for iPad

Oh man thanks so much for the in depth analysis! Sounds like you’re taking to it pretty well and I think it could be useful for me. My main use for Trinity is to master screen recorded jams in a much easier and quicker way for when I just want to throw something out onto the world without tweaking things too much. OR to further slightly master some already finished tracks for finishing touches.

So that said, I think GF2 could be very useful for me. I do have all the TB and some FF apps. The FAC stuff is also right up there with them, imo and I have all those. So I don’t necessarily need it. But the all in one nature if what draws me to it and sometimes you just want something quicker and easier rather than fiddling with an entire chain of effects for who knows how long. I’m bad about getting the final stages of a track and tweaking for way longer than I should, so this may actually help me in that since. Thanks again 🙏

  • Does anyone know if miRack usually has sales in the summer? From a search it looks like their sales are usually in December…but there is a lot of sales going on now!
