@Gavinski thank you for that video, i recently got Mela 3, from the awesome dev, and didn't even know it did stuff like that. And I'm glad he keeps making part 4 better and better, will probably grab it once i better understand 3. Now ill go find your other video on Mela 3 to see what else im missing.

Nice! I think that was my only vid on Mela 3 but I did some other stuff, maybe 2 vids, on Mela 2 if I remember right. Cheers!

  • Lots on sale right now:

@audiblevideo Please describe these "midi transform" tools. ignorant and curious. Kinda like Fugue, or am i way off?

For example: I used to put ROZETA Scalar in a midi channel to put things in key or to transpose and another midi tool to increase note duration and anther tool to arpeggiate and another tool to limit the note range - now I do it all in Mela

    Hope that helps

  • I'd start by looking at Devious Machine's Texture and Boz's Sasquatch 2.

Does AEM mobile do anything Zenbeats or a Cubasis 3 can’t do? I cancelled my LP4i sub and deleted to free up space. I don’t think anything will touch those 2 for me but I’m curious about AEM.

Mainly I’m wondering if it has mix busses and drag to loop with clips.

Mix busses- yes, you can add groups, very easy.

Drag to loop- you mean like import a sample, then drag it’s length out to loop it? No, but there is a ‘repeat’ button so you can, for eg, copypaste a clip x times with selectable interval between copies

    Some pics attached to clarify…

  • @audiblevideo i see more now. Ahh there is so much to explore in this ipad music world! Thanks be to the Creator of this forum!

@Samu can probably help lol but I’ve slowed way down lately and have only been buying new apps that I absolutely can’t be without it. Somehow I’ve managed to get to a spot where I’m mostly happy with my setup lol

That said, gimme all the apps 🤣

App-O-Holism is real and hard to cure if one keeps on looking for 'quick fixes'.

One of the keys to my recovery was to actually go thru all the apps I already had one by one and check if they still 'click' and do something special that no other app does and if it's something I actually enjoy using.

I do admit that all the apps have been a good lesson in learning synthesis and how things work and what I really 'need' to do the things I enjoy doing and more importantly how to do it.

Even my most recent purchases (Thump One, miniBit, Blip Box and Phase Monkey) can quite quite easily be re-created with for example Drambo but sometimes I just fee lazy :sunglasses:

I've also been 'lucky' in a few give-aways and gotten some 'freebies' as thank and that has saved me some bucks on the more 'expensive' apps.

The biggest 'single purchase' outside annual Logic Pro sub has been the Moog Bundle and prior to that Twin 3.
I've managed to stay ~4 apps per month and <$20/month on average during 2023.

Learning that apps one already has and figuring out what one really needs is the key to recovery...

    Cheers!

This is definitely good advice. I’m not entirely sure I’ll delete anything I have now but for the last few weeks or so if a new app comes out, or there’s an older app I want, I’ll open AUM and start loading all my similar apps to see if I need it or already have something that can do that. It’s definitely saved me some money but I’m also kind of at a point where if I genuinely want an app, and can afford it, I won’t let having a similar app stop me because why not, it’s fun and part of the fun for me is trying new things and experimenting with new things. But if I can genuinely live without it, I’m finally at a stage where I can easily pass on it.

Thanks! I don’t need another DAW but I’m always tempted by it. Doesn’t it do time signature and tempo changes mid track too?

Yep. Just go for it, it keeps getting better and better.

@Nikolozi Sale, this Weekend Only, Quick Sale. All apps are 50% Off!

    Mela 4 is only 14.99

    Mela 3 is only $9.99

    NFM is only $7.49

Is Mela 4 worth it if you have 2, 3, and NMF?

I’m in the same exact boat. So curious what people have to say. I definitely want it, and I think it is based off what I’ve seen, heard, and read, really seems to be a good buy. It has so many modules for the synth, the audio fx, and the midi fx, it’s like multiple apps in one.

Unfortunately i don’t have the funds at the moment, plus there’s 1-2 others that have a slight edge in my wish list. I’m dying to get my hands on Hilda. I know, I know, I can’t believe i don’t have it yet either, lol.

I thought I was the only one who hasn't coughed up for Hilda! When I checked last time he does a sale around Thanks giving.

I’m still holding off of Hilda, Buttersynth, Mela4, and Twin3. Do I want them all? Maybe.

If you don’t feel you need them, you don’t need them. I’m infected with the thought that one of those synths will be my number one, the epitome of inspiration, a voice from heaven. But in reality, a sample made with Koala in some random place can do the trick perfectly. 😌

  • There’s something to be said about app design and interfaces though. I can possibly design almost any app functionality in MiRack or Drambo (or combine both!) but a well designed app directed to a certain use or function can be quite inspirational.

I always say that too and I buy every single one and then over 50% of my music is sample-based mangling of acoustic instruments and weird found sounds and samples lol that said the 4 @EdGG are up there with my all time favorite iOS synths. If I could only keep 5 that would probably be 4 of them lol

This 100%. I know it’s a meme on here to say “Drambo can do” and even though it’s usually true, a dedicated app that does one thing very well can be amazing.

I have Butter synth and Twin 3. Buttersynth still has a few bugs in it that make it crash, but it can sound out of this world. So much scope for sonic creation. Twin 3 is just beautiful sounding.
