@Samu Korg apps litter the top ranking music apps for iPad sales (and a scant few on the iPhone side as well) so I would say it’s probably going well for them, even considering the lack of updates.

Another odd thing about the rankings is that FL Studio Mobile always seems to be in the Top 5-10, yet no one here ever talks about using it (from what I can tell). iMPC 2 as well.

This forum is great but we represent but a small portion of the market, in my opinion.

Guess it also depends on which countries AppStore one looks at since the AppStore top lists are regional not global :sunglasses:

Laplace is $2 off at $7.99

I HIGHLY recommend LaPlace. When I first heard of it I thought it was going to be of limited use, but it is WAY more versatile than I initially realized . I posted an album a few days ago in the creations section here , and the track “Cacophony” used LaPlace pretty heavily (especially for the “mandolin” type sound and some of the percussion), in case you’re on the fence and want to hear what it’s capable of

I’ve been wondering actually: LaPlace, StringLab or Tera Pro for Karplus-Strong type physical modeling? Which gives you the most sound sculpting possibilities (ignoring combining with Tera Pro’s other modules)?

Or do none of them really offer anything over Drambo’s physical modeling options?

Any other options other than within Logic?

Also take a look at STRNG. Picked up while on sale and it's amazing. Same dev as Rymdigare so don't be fooled by the the UI, it seems basic but it's super deep.

Yes! I forgot about Strng as well. I, too, picked it up while on sale and, yes, it is amazing.

I think i need to refine my question: do Laplace or StringLab actually offer much greater control over sound design than Strng, Tera Pro, Mirack, Spectrum, Drambo and their Karplus-Strong capabilities?

Building the K-S algorithm up from scratch in MiRack is going to give you the most control.

I’m sure that’s correct but that would be way beyond my Mirack skills unfortunately! What i was really thinking about in Mirack was the Modal Synthesiser and the Resonator modules - they use Karplus-Strong don’t they?

Those modules have K-S modes. They're the same modules as the free Spectrum bundle. Doesn't Tera Pro also use the MI software? Not sure--don't own it.

Yes, as far as i understand it, the BrainZ add on for Tera Pro is based on Mutable Instruments Plaits.

  • @samu oh okay. I use the listing posted on AppSliced, since it’s easier to find than in the App Store app. But it doesn’t say which country. I’m assuming it’s US for me.

Now I want to see the rankings for different countries ha

    Korg Sale Extended

That indicates to me that their sale is going very well. They should be doing more in the iPadOS space.

I think they have done this before.

Marketing trick...you get music press coverage with the original sale announcement - then you "extend" it and get a second helping of press coverage, even though you intended the sale go beyond the original, stated end date.

I’m assuming the US for everyone that uses appsliced. I see peacock as the #4 free app, which makes absolutely no sense for me living in Portugal, if they would do region based rankings.

Very true. Neither of the mentioned apps are in the top 200 music apps in the US store. BandLab and GarageBand are the highest two ranked music creation apps there.

I am also in the US, and I see GarageBand at #18 and BandLab at #10 on the chart. There are separate lists for free and paid apps.

I’ve always found that interesting. Always top 5 paid in the States yet not mentioned that much. Doug @thesoundtestroom did a video not to long ago on FLSM but in general I’ve always wondered about that as well.

Just for a heads up because it’s died down a bit, but there are many good sales still going on:

    Klevgrand
    K Devices
    Amazing Noises
    ApeSoft
    Imaginando
    AudioThing
    SWAM Audio Modeling
    Bleass
    DDMF
    Audio Damage
    VirSyn
    Korg

    So many apps…so little time.

I’m mostly set on apps but am considering the Waves IAP in Tera before it’s over. I have all the other IAPs and they’re great. Being able to combine wavetable sounds even better.

I think all 4 IAPs are must haves. Waveshaper as well is probably the more overlooked of the 4 but I'm glad for that one too. Waves probably my number 1 pick, then FM, then Braidz, even though Waveshaper is my number 4 pick they're all for me must haves.

Thanks. I love the FM and Brainz engines but being able to blend in some WT sounds with alllll those other options is just too enticing to a pass up. Do you have the presets IAP as well? Is it worth getting?

Actually I didn't even think about getting presets, I never do. Maybe I should for some more recipes to reverse. But there's so many already and plenty examples to construct that it just never enters my head as something to spend money on.

True I rarely use presets myself but I was thinking maybe it came with extra wavetables to use for my own patches but perhaps it’s strictly just presets.

I think that’s one that transcended this forum. Never really gathered steam here but I think got a lot of traction outside of the forum. I see it get name dropped a lot elsewhere and the demos on YouTube all have 1 million+ views.

Some Misc Music Sales… looks like Klevgrand dropped a few more apps, and Oliver raised then dropped the Elastic apps up to $12.99 then back down to $9.99. All the Alexey Nadzharov apps are on sale as mentioned but only a few in these pics.

    Listening

SomaFM Radio Player is Free usually $7.99 - I believe all IAPs are tips for the developer.

SomaFM has some amazing radio channels (over 30 in total) that cover a wide range of musical tastes - they're independent, listener supported and chat and ad free - website here: https://somafm.com/. The player only allows access to their channels and IAPs are donations to the station but you can access their stuff on other Web radio players (like the Radio Unit AU plugin)....

Tell us your favorite channel! If you feed it into AUM and play around etc

I don't usually use music based radio channels in my work. I like spoken word stations for sampling, mangling and general manipulation. Some of my favourites are Audio Noir, SciFi Old Time Radio, AudioBook Radio, Business FM and Messenger Church of God but there are thousands out there just waiting to be found...👍

It’s the Dead Kennedys, I believe. Not sure which album though.

  • If I’m just messing around I dont worry about copyright, but if it’s a track or something decent I’m working on I always try to use CC or public domain stuff just in case.

Yea I thought I just struck gold but it has a $19.99 IAP for full unlock.

Unique for iPad is now free but with $19.99 IAP pro unlock. I wonder how previous owners were treated. They should be “grandfathered in” but I only have the iPhone version.

Yea I was super excited for a few minutes, lol. Thanks for sharing, it’s still a free synth to use in standalone.

Here is the picture of what pops up in settings, you do get a lot of patches but no Au.

Looks like Nembrini Apps went back to regular pricing, but these apps were reduced in price again.
