Sweet. I had no hope of this ever becoming universal.

    As promised! 🙂

    Regarding the reference track:

Does the reference track by default bypass the mastering chain for quick A/B’ing? Or would I need to manually bypass all the different modules before listening to the reference track?

Yes, the reference track always bypasses the signal chain. That's the main workflow idea -- quickly switching between mastered track and reference by tapping the "Play" buttons (or seeking directly in the waveform).

Thanks for clarifying! Off to the App Store now.
    P.S. Please make more Trance!

Nice! so is it a separate purchase for iPhone?

Nope! It's a universal app, so if you've bought it for iPad or Mac, you can install it for free on iPhone!

Strange, maybe I have to wait a little bit. Because I bought it on iPad when was released, but on my iphone it says 99sek 🤷🏻‍♂️

That's a 15 year old bug in the App Store. If you click on the button and confirm all the dialogs, at the very end (!) it'll realize that you've already purchased the app and say it's free. Unbelievable, I know!

Damn! haha.. well, thank you for clarifying this for me, and for making this great tool universal. 🙂 🙌🏼

    Sure! Thanks for your purchase.

😄 I must admit as the state of the world keeps deteriorating, my vibes for making music are falling through the bottom, but I'll be back! 😜

Lemme know if you want to continue this through a different correspondence channel, but strangely, I’m getting no sound.
The meters are lighting up, but no sound.
I uninstalled, rebooted my phone, but still nothing. I made sure BT was disabled.
Stranger still, the app doesn’t even show up on the app list in settings. I went to go check some settings.

    iPhone SE2
    iOS 15.6.1

    Edit: Will email you

Can you check if the mute switch on your iPhone is off?

😄 no worries. Every app handles this differently, I'd even say most apps ignore it. So... all good!

@Zerozerozero have fun and drop any questions here.

Regarding the iPhone layout: This is probably not obvious and I'll add a help tip for it in an update: When switching tabs between "Low", "Mid" and "High": This switches between the three compressor band settings, however the two Normalizers (above and below the compressor settings) are global, i.e. the same for all 3 bands. This should be made more obvious. I'm on it!

Was having a go this morning and you’re right it wasn’t obvious at first glance but quickly figured out - I was going through your helpful guide on the website. One thing I didn’t see was the Solo buttons per band? (TBF I didn’t look very hard and it wasn’t a deal breaker, I still managed to come up with a great result!)

Another small issue was the white and grey LUFs meter - I changed presets to A/B and the white meter disappeared showing only a full grey bar - on RMS setting it was there but not for any of the three LUFs options.

Great app, very easy to use, straightforward file management, great price - nice work!

  • Was using the app earlier on a track I posted on creations. It really is a great mastering app. Good work @SevenSystems

Hey, great to hear you're getting good results! The Solo buttons should be right here (one per band):

Another small issue was the white and grey LUFs meter - I changed presets to A/B and the white meter disappeared showing only a full grey bar - on RMS setting it was there but not for any of the three LUFs options.

Oh, thanks for the report. Do the LUFS modes stop working every time you change presets? Do they start working again if you stop and press play again? What iOS version are you on?

Great app, very easy to use, straightforward file management, great price - nice work!

    Thanks a lot! 😎

I’m on 16.1.1 - in fact I thought it was maybe because the loop I had selected wasn’t long enough to get an average LUFs reading but I extended the loop and the white didn’t come back. I didn’t actually try to recreate the problem but I’ll have a go and get back to you.

OK thanks! I'm pushing out a minor update this weekend so would be great to sneak that fix in!

  • I bought this on release but have only just gotten around to trying it out - I'm a little blown away - it's producing much better results than I ever got out of Ozone 9. Really great work @SevenSystems.

One question. I tried loading a video file straight from “media library”, and I could never get it to load or even bring up the photos/videos app. I waited about 5-6 mins and eventually ended up converting it to a wav file in Wavebox and uploading it from the files app. Did I do something wrong?

  • I love Trinity being universal and I totally understand @SevenSystems thoughts regarding pasting in files to be mastered vs having Trinity as an AUv3 effect that can be placed within the master track of a DAW like Cubasis or whichever. I guess I’m asking for consideration for those of us that prefer to tweak mixes and Mastering parameters back&forth depending on what they heard from either area.
I realize they are traditionally 2 distinct steps, but I am not sophisticated and other apps have allowed me to get into the iOS habit of mixing a little and mastering a little back & forth.

I bought Trinity when it released in January. Used it on some tracks and love the versatility and sound characteristics it has. Definitely worth the purchase. There are more all in one mastering apps available that I also own, but they have less options and with one of them I am really questioning the coding of the developer (I will not name the app and developer), because it’s audio DSP engine tend to crackle and is noisy (both inside the app and after exporting). Trinity works for me and I’m curious what Seven Systems is coming up with in the future for iPad applications. Cheers.

  • I took the plunge with a purchase and the User Interface and workflow is beautifully constructed.
I fancy myself as an “optimizer” which is the fancy way of valuing being lazy and always seeking shortcuts.

Trinity is a very pleasurable optimizer for creating multiple mixdowns very quickly so you can use fast A/B comparisons to decide which one to settle on. In a half hour I let it process 6 of my StaffPad creations and generally selected the “stereo widener” preset and uploading a StaffPad Mix generated by @jankun who labors over small details in his work. I was pleasantly pleased with the results.

I can see how someone like @echoopera would be hesitant to turn over the decision making process to
An algorhythm but I suspect there are a lot of “Bark Filter/Magic Death Eye” mixers that might appreciate yet another labor saving app that makes your work sound better and allows you to take all the credit. I wonder if @SevenSystems sneaks a water mark into the files so he can see his Monster’s children in the wild. We would never know unless he sells us the watermark detector app.

I just read this whole thread where it is mentioned multiple times that $5.99 is the permanent price and figured hey, I like @SevenSystems , he seems really cool and I want to support him so I'll drop $6 just to play around with this...but as luck would have it, it went up to $9.99 yesterday. Now I'm not complaining and certainly not saying it isn't worth that but now I feel like I ought to wait until I actually need to master something. That is, unless a money-saving bundle with Xequence 2 happened to pop up...? I don't actually need that either but I do like a good bargain. (For the record, I do own the original Xequence and both controller apps which are ace.)

This change in pricing hit me too but honestly, I slept through the sale and didn’t take any action.

I get it and appreciated your review of it too. To be clear though, it was stated at least twice by the dev in this very thread (3 months ago) that it was not a sale but a"final price." He's 100% entitled to change his mind, probably did underprice it to begin with, and I'll probably buy it anyway when I have a reason to in the future...but happening by the day after the price increased unexpectedly has put a damper on that impulse buy. Heck, it might even be an April Fools joke! Regardless, I'm sure it's still a great tool and more than fairly priced compared to the competition, and lack of AUv3 isn't a deal-breaker in my book either.

I feel the same way. I thought I'd buy the app as soon as I needed it. I was in no hurry because it was written here that the price remains the same. Now I am a bit irritated. From my point of view it is still a bargain but nevertheless the whole thing gets a funny taste.

  • @SevenSystems Please add an AUv3 slot at the end of the chain. There you could use e.g. TB Morphit to judge the result optimally with a corrected headphone.

Or you could use additional analysis plugins like Youlean Loudness Meter.

This would be a great solution that no other mastering tool offers standalone.

Sorry, automatically extracting and re-multiplexing audio from video files is not supported. What you've done is the best you could do.

I agree that both workflows are valid and it would be good to have Trinity as an AUv3 plug-in as well (I used to use your workflow actually). However it's essentially impossible to implement, but if a Trinity 2.0 ever happens (that is, if sales of Trinity 1 increase by at least a factor of 5 😂), then it will likely be AUv3 compatible!

Thanks for the compliments. There's a full roadmap for a Trinity V2 layed out (and it would be awesome!), but unless sales of V1 increase by at least a factor of 5 or I finally win the lottery after trying on and off for decades, it's unlikely to happen 😢
